I always think the mascot is the one getting the strongest launch at the moment. (sometimes its Ellie, sometimes its Kratos, etc...) But Astro is a really nice addition, and a great homenage to the whole Playstation history.

As both a Nintendo fan and VR fan not only am I very happy that PlayStation fans now get to experience the magic of well designed platformers but astrobot is still one of the only few VR games where it's not in first person and you are playing a pair of floating hands.
There are a ton of first person game with full body IK and a tons of third person vr games. Example for 3rd person Vr games: - Moss 1+2 - Max Mustard - Ven - Lucky Tale - down the rabbit hole - hellblade - Chronos - Edge of Nowhere With the UEVR Injector/ VorpX / Luke Ross Mods you can basically play every third person game this way in VR

I never heard of Astro until i got my PS5 and played playroom that was installed. Even then, i thought they should make a full game of it because i thought it was really fun to play...now here we are

I love Astro Bot, but nothing will compare to the feeling of Rescue Mission. The new game has all the cameos and stuff that were introduced in Astro's Playroom, but Rescue Mission's unique level design and intuitive mechanics make it my favourite platformer of all time.
Playroom was literally the first game I ever played on my PS5, and one of the first games I ever completed. It was also the first game I ever played on a home console since a X-box when I was like 7. I didn’t even realize he got a full game until now and I’m so proud of my little guy

Wow, i never played astro vr… never wanted the psvr headset… but i have a psvr2 headset, i wish they made an astrobot game for it. On a side note the graphics in the new astrobot looks almost identical to the vr one on ps4
demons souls is still the best looking ps5 game. Also returnal was insanely good. And god of war. also spider man, forbiddon west, ff7 rebirth were super good too.

Because the previous astrobot games were more like mini games or demos. They cost about 20 $ or was at free and you can finish them in about 3 hours. Also some of them were for the PS VR 1 and not a lot of people had the VR 1 at home. Astrobot for the PS5 is the first big 70 $ more than 10 hours playtime astrobot game.
maybe it's the fact that it took 5 generations for Sony to finally decide on a mascot, maybe it's the fact that it took 11 years after his debut for it to be Astro Bot, maybe it's the fact that Astro's Playroom is all about showcasing PlayStation's lengthy history including some of the things i missed out on that i'll never be able to experience, or maybe it's the fact that deep down i know for a fact that there will never ever be another game quite like Astro Bot, or maybe even the fact that by the time its next sequel comes out i might unironically be "too old", or maybe it's a combination of all that.. but something about Astro Bot just gives me existential dread.. i was born in 2000 and grew up with PS2 (although we did have PS1), so to see this whole history of this cute little character and his amazing PS5 game just throws me off guard.. it especially kinda upsets me that not more PS5 exclusives make use of the controller's unique features the way this game does.. and Sony shutting down games to make them unplayable.. like, Astro Bot makes me want to be excited for the future of gaming, but realistically it can only go downhill from here.. i truly hope the next Astro Bot game will address everything that gaming is currently missing and deliver on that, and i hope it happens some time next year.. either that or i'm just getting old
