Hahaha what do you get when you have a wog, hard trance dj talking about 90's clubbing, a great interview!(gotta love the wog coming out, brilliant). But the thing that makes coming from that blessed time is the authenticity of what he's saying. It makes you not only reflect on those times but reminds you how lucky we were and how amazing life was growing up experiencing it, great classic hits!!!!
I stumbled across this and it was such a great surprise... I met Puppa at his first gig at Paul's birthday... 6 years later I was running the door at ZoS / chases... And watched him run the room like a ledged regularly.. He was always a lovely bloke.
So much respect for this living legend, he took me back to so many awesome memories. The best years of my life was the late 90’s early 2000’s dance scene rave scene ❤
Papa Smurf talks sense. I back everything he says in this video 100%. Giovanni is not just a DJ, he’s a genuine legend. We lived this together - before smartphones. Melbourne is one of the world’s greatest clubbing cities, without a doubt. What are we gonna do in the future? #MAJIK 🗿❤️ RIP Matt Deveson. 90’s proper rave shit bro.
Hopefully, it'll continue. When it becomes safer, more raves can be thrown without any phones. Keeping that magic alive. I don't think it has fully gone away, there are still people out there with the participation to include everyone to have fun.
Papa Smurt, love it, I am 62 and male and brought up in the early 60's and I even had a choof when I was 13 and year did it a few times as my mate was 12 and his brother was a bikie. its was a fun stuff and made you happy these days and I tried it 18 years ago and it made you just do nothing. It was different stuff. I remember so much but , I remember that I learnt be be a Dj but yeah I got stuff right and stuff wrong. just wanted to try my hand. This was late 70's early 80's and Disco was the go at this time, I went along with one of my teachers who was a DJ at the Melbourne Hotel in Bourke street and I watched for about 5 weeks, a whole different panel, and I never got to use it. Him his other Mate started a Disco in Toorak road and I became a member, yeah I got used badly and I signed people in and sat around young women on a table talking about there boyfriends and holidays and boats. I got used badly, yeah I left and never went back. I did a gig at a friends garage and I paid for the turn tables and set up and had the ball ball in the middle and lights and used it too affect and had little party things during the night competitions and every enjoyed the night, cops came and I turned it down then half an hour later her ex-husband rock up and said Wayne get your gear and FUCK OFF. Well that did it and end of party. I never Did a party since then. Never touched a turned table.but Disco was at every pub for awhile, as me and a few mates went to every Disco around in the Northern Suburbs for a couple of years, The only one was the later night was Phoenix st went and was different and was the only night club I heard or new about. Everyone else was high class and only Celeb were allow to enter. I love to dance and one night me and other guy held the floor at a disco and he out did me but I proved my worth, nah no sex, it was a different time and different era.
All the classic parties omg. EPTAS, Summerdayze, Future Music, BDO, War of the Worlds. Such incredible sounds. I miss those multi-stage events, but there is a lot of positives about the smaller more intimate events we tend to have now.
I grew up in South Yarra behind club evolution me and my dad were rocking it hard from when I was 14 mad vibe best memories my dad ran Sunday recoverys in early 2000 and I tell you no violence people connected through the tunes Papa Smurf is the Maradona of the rave seen. God bless him. My dad's in his 70,s now and we still get that fuzzy feeling when we talk about zos Evo,s VM,s and mon morn 161 or mega bar. Pre social media plastic shit. Papa Smurf brings the crowd like Jesus🙏
0:26 I don't have any experience as a dj, but I'm sure I would rock the crowd for hrs. One day I will give it a shot. 1:54 I remember zos days, best club I went to back in the day when I was 17 was the one near the hospital commercial Rd. Can't remember the name the next few weeks it closed down
Man! His vibe is just magnetic, I love it. I want to be around people that are real and fun like him.
