  • My improvised solo at the end of this video shows my more sensitive side! I first created a backing track based on Tears in Heaven which has some great twists and turns. Improvising a solo to this is a bit like driving down an unlit country lane with one headlight out and one eye closed! It's come out pretty well, though and I think shows off my musicality better than most of my other videos. I hope you like it.

Man - I've been trying to read your 2nd comment but every time I click on it it disappears! I think I got the gist though. Some kind of explanation as to why I'm doing what I'm doing. Yeah - I like that idea.

@@SimonCLees ahhhh yeh sorry dude i totally made an error thinking you were playing loads of passing tones over triad chords but i had missed the fact you actually recorded those weird chords 😂😂😂but seriously man if you have time any tips on chords progressions and playing a bit outside the ususal diatonic would be amazing

@@SimonCLees or maybe like how to come up with decent chords for modal playing? Ive written a few lydian chord progressions but more by accident than anything 😂

@@Planet9_music Each chord in a key has a mode associated with it. If you wanna create a chord progression to practice jamming in a certain mode you need to organise the chord sequence so that it resolves on the chord that relates to the mode in question. If the chords in your progression change slowly (maybe 1 chord lasts 4 bars) you can easily change to a different mode for each chord.

brilliant choice sie loved the bass on this I'm tipping towards bass for one reason only one bassist in a band so easier to learn the parts I'd say bass easier to play but would probably get negative replies saying bass is this and that don't want to go down that road its about the music good luck on your projects and in video 51 do something with more bass take care be lucky and hopefully time will pass quickly till we get the next video oh how about a pro tip for bass lol

hi sie just wondering when we can see you back if you do pro tips in the future can you explain why its better to plug effects into the send Jack instead of direct into the front I know you use a multi effects board are they in the order you would put individual pedals hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see you again hope you are well and having a great time whatever your doing I'm waiting for my new guitar its only an epiphone les Paul tribute plus but heard good things read good reviews about it take care mate

Hi Richard - thanks for asking, mate. I've gotta build my new web site first but once that's done I should be able to start up again. Any set neck Les Pauls are great - best design of guitar ever. Generally I would never use Send and Return jacks. As long as the total signal coming from your FX pedal chain is no greater than what comes out of your guitar then using the amp's input is perfect. FX loops were invented so that you could get a more pure sound from your delays reverb and chorus effects. Great idea in theory but they forgot that the speaker in a guitar amp is not exactly hi-fi. Plus the fact that since the 90s most people have been searching for "vintage" sounding gear - putting delays reverb and chorus effects through the amp's input makes them sound more "vintage" than using the FX loop. I should point out that I dont use amp distortion - my distortion comes from my pedals. Maybe if I was using amp distortion the FX loop might be more worthwhile.
