Hi!!! I’m actually the co-creator for this game and I SUPER loved this video!!!!! I’m honestly a little disappointed you didn’t talk about some of the starbies you liked besides the starters, but it was very tastefully done so I can’t be too mad Fun fact is that Embrain is the first Starbie I ever made actually, and the fire on his back is a fire tail! I can’t say too much on the story/moveset side of things…. I’m not a coder, I just did a lot of art and suggested features to be implemented like the EXP Bar and such, but yeah a physical/special split would probably make Sudzy wanna die trying to add but he definitely likes that Gen 1 jank, so even if he could change it he probably wouldn’t We ARE planning to add a lot more cooler stuff for Star Beasts: Comet Version, and videos like this help us understand a vision!! It’s just very cool I appreciate it so much Please if you have ANY questions I would be happy to! Thank you!!
Oh, WOW, that's awesome! Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'll start off by thanking you for assisting in the creation of a wondeful hack! I had a great time playing it and making this video! I do wanna say that I had originally planned to talk on all the Starbies that I really liked, like a top 5 or 10, but I wanted people to enjoy the hack blind like I did. Maybe in the future I'll make a list of my favorites or whenever you all release Comet version. Also on Embrain, I thought it was a tail, I just didn't want to assume and be wrong. For my comments on the the hack staying a pre-special-physical split experience, I personally have no issue with it since I'm used to it (also why I called it gen 1 magic rather than gen 1 jank in the video), I more or less wanted to forewarn those who might be used to it being patched in like most ROM hacks do. I'm SUPER excited for Starbeasts Comet version! I'm happy that my video can assist you all in it's creation. I hope all of development goes smoothly for the entire team! Thank you again for stopping by and watching the video!
Oh it's nice that they changed the sprites from Meteor, plus some more original mons. Those were reused from the Vast Fame Pokémon-likes (Shi Kong Xing Shou and Shui Hu Shen Shou, except for the backsprites since these games didn't have them). It's still easy to see which monsters they're based on for those who are (Quincy is SHSS's Prodigal with less leaves and a palette swap, Jelleye is reworked from SHSS's Demon Face, and Embrain is SHSS's Fiery Thunder, though redrawn completely and with less of a cheeky smile). Though some of the sprites you showed here still are just... SKXS/SHSS mons. (e.g. the little potted plant guy is literally just unedited Gardener, with more colors than the og sprite). I'd recommend playing both Shi Kong Xing Shou and Shui Hu Shen Shou, they're really good games which kind of feel like an in-between of Gen1 and Gen2 (even through SKXS suffers balancing issues and has a broken accuracy check in battle which makes OHKO moves absolutely ridiculous), though they are unfortunately untranslated (chinese only). I'm trying to transpose Shui Hu Shen Shou with all of its mechanical differences into Pokémon Essentials to make it more accessible for people, but that might take a while to get done unfortunately.
@WaddleBih That's interesting, I think I remember reading about how Meteor version was linked to Shi Kong Xing Shou before I played the hack. I wasn't aware how linked it was to those games though. I'll have to check them out in the future. I'll also keep an eye open for your project whenever you complete it, best of luck on it! Thanks for all the information!
The reason the types bugged out is indeed gen 1 shenanigans. Gen 1 calculates which effectiveness message to use individually, meaning it looks at ground THEN steel, instead of combining them. Since steel is the second type, its message is displayed. Has no effect on gameplay
@whoknowsanymoreiguess Ah, okay, that makes sense. I figured it was some gen 1 magic, but it's nice to know that it doesn't affect the gameplay itself. Thank you for the explanation!

8:58 That's a sprite from the Gameboy color Hamtaro:Ham-hams Unite
Yup! I love Hamtaro, especially Ham-hams Unite, I'm using Cappy cause he's my favorite character.
