    Do you know about bafang? Have you ever had a bafang? My 1200w bbs02 would go about 30 kmh up that offroad hill, top speed 60kmh on flat. Bbshd is 20% more torque and power. Also waay more miles from same battery You dont know what are you missing till you try, just dont be so grannysh- half throttle on low rpm. Its big motor it won't break it won't spin it won't overheat! You're just in some fears

    • @necroticavalon5176
      @necroticavalon5176 2 года назад

      Fear is justified when the chain snaps under 160nm of torque. Mid drive is all well and good, but it has a single point of failure. Hub has redundancy. And with 2000w it about matches the bbsh2 mostly (does drain more power, true). I've got both hub and mid ebikes now. I use mid for casual riding, but for day-to-day delivery job when I have to ride for 8 hours all over the city, I need something simple and reliable. Hub drive is it. I don't want to think about the chain and gears, while having a 100 other things on my mind.

      @@grahamgeorge1130 you'll need 60v to get 45mph but I really would not recommend that on a mountain bike conversion, because the stresses on cornering alone at that speed are beyond what mtb's are built for. I had a carerra that I converted to 52v @ 30amps and nearly killed myself leaning on a turn. If you want to go over 40 get full suspension, strong disc brakes and tyres that can handle the extra lean you'll use on corners. Hope your build goes well and you get what you want. ll the best.

    • @pauldonohue7536
      @pauldonohue7536 2 года назад

      New to all this, but from my understanding a MTB conversion shouldn't really go that fast due to strain on the bike, anymore than that you should be looking at full suspension ebike, something like a Talaria, Sur-Ron, or build/buy an Enduro frame or stealth bomber ebike.

      With so many different riding conditions it’s good rule of thumb to routinely check and tighten your spokes. Very easy to do yourself. Tool is a couple of dollars. As far as the battery if unable to mount on frame like u say then have some type of secure cushiony mount. IMO batteries life might be shortened with all the shock from the bumps if mounted on rack. Welds can be broken. The perfect place is in the triangle but we work with what we have.

    question, about what would be the weight difference between 3000w motor compared to a 2000w? would you consider the power difference a lot? should i go with 3000 w without even thinking about it? the 2000w seems like it really struggled up the hill, damn, i expected to crush it actually, is this the battery's fault not providing a lot of power?

      i was wondering same thing about battery. i swear my 2kw motor at 52v lifepo4 fat tire. does better at hills than this.

      Got to factor in this guy is pretty big and muscly, he wouldn't be light... Maybe different for average weight guy. I just order the same kit and im 105kg so i am not expecting peak performance up hills HAHA @@devlin2011

    That's why people complain about ebikes go by him at 17 plus miles an hour too fast be going by pedestrians. I didn't have my leg cut wide open because of an e-bike cutting too close to me at too high of the speed. I own any bike myself I'm very cautious about going around people only takes a second to f*** somebody up

    Struggles with the hills I’ve got a 250w bike and I fly up hills at 15mph

      You wouldn't fly up these hills with no run up on 250w they are huge hills and long. Not without peddling hard, I wasn't hardly peddling

      It's a direct-drive hub motor. What did you expect? And he didn't give the hill ANY run-up at all (if he had a running start, I guarantee you that thing would have shot up that hill). Frankly for a DD hub, it did well. Those things are NOT meant for hillclimbing from standstill, but high speeds on the flat. Mid-drive is for hillclimbing. For a DD hub to climb, you need to pedal a bit to get it going first.

      @@necroticavalon5176 Wow, almost a year later to respond..what did I expect? Torque… I expect torque. Of course by now things may have improved slightly.

      @@theunseen8054 Then your expectations were misplaced. You want torque, go mid-drive. I've ridden a Bosch CX ebike that puts this thing to shame on a hill, with only 250w, because it's mid drive and has hillclimb gearing. Or put a 72v battery on that hub. But as it is, it did pretty good, for what it is.
