Eddie Redmayne said exactly the same thing on The Graham Norton Show like two years ago and now he is Newt Scamander so let's just hope someone somewhere is stalking all the british actors who have not yet been in a HP movies to cast them in the FBAWTFT movies
He could've played Professor Lupin ... or possibly Arthur Weasly as someone pointed out would've been great. Ugh now I'm recasting the movies in my head again
There's a difference between the way that Jackson tells a story, and the way Tolkien does it. Freeman nailed it, he'll always make it about the characters, but what I love about Tolkien is that the characters almost feel secondary, they just live in this world that Tolkien's made.
Jackson got at least one character wrong. He did Elrond a great dis service. In the books he was never trying to desert middle earth and stop Arwen marrying Aragorn.
Jackson nailed that character stuff perfectly in LOTR. Then he took a big, steaming dump on both Tolkien's and his own works with that awful hobbit trilogy
Tolkien and rr martin. They tend to put the plot/story first and that ends up making it feel as though characters are objects stuck in a game. It sometimes feel that a couple characters haven't been given justice just for the sake of plot.
Is it weird that Jimmy congratulated him on his kids? Congratulations on having them 6 & 9 years ago....creating them 7 & 10 years ago...or hey, congrats on keeping them alive this long! ?? I have a 17 & 11 year old, no one has ever congratulated me in 17 & 11 years.
+Darth Parallax and before you say ''he's too nice for that role''-- the beautiful wonderful thing about British Actors is you can always cast based on the face-- because each and everyone of the full grown ones is qualified as an actor to put on the whole show one-man or one-woman.
Lupin is one of my faves too, but I never liked the actor in the movie. I remember they asked Ewan Mcgregour or something like that. I always Imagined him as a perfect Lupin!
I'm glad that Martin is opening up more about his personal life a little bit, and I'm not saying that because I'm a fan and wish to know about his family, I'm saying that because, it's difficult to see an actor you like be defensive about a lot when asked certain questions. I mean a year ago, regarding his kids, he'd say, "None of your fucking business," whereas here, he's answering like no problem, "6 and 9."
ConspiracyJuice It was an interview with ZMTV regarding the Hobbit films. He was asked what his kids thought, but the interviewer said, ''What do your daughters think of their dad being the Hobbit?'' ''Well, I'm surprised they've both become girls.'' ''Do you have two daughters or do you have a boy and a girl?'' ''It's none of your fucking business.''
Wow. This man is truly a great actor. In Fargo he seems like a middle aged not the best looking everyday sad dude, but in real life he's completely different and he's actually attractive even though he physically looks the same. Great actor!
Martain is awesome. The Hobbit transports you into this amazing world that you never want to leave. You cry with them, rejoice with them, and feel all they're pain...
Maybe he could be in the Fantastic Beasts Trilogy. Also if he was in Harry Potter, he could have had a cameo role as Dawlish, which could have been a much longer role than the one that was portrayed.
I'd love to just have a coffee or tea with Martin and just chat about how beautiful is the day or life. Am I the only one who thinks that he's that kind of person?
i enjoy watching martin freeman's interviews, this guy with his wit and dry sense of humor... always fun to watch him ...... would be fun if he gets his own talk show....hmmmm...
For those of you that are asking who the other 6 actors that weren't in the HP films I came up with a list of names: 1- Martin Freeman 2- Sean Bean 3- Hugh Grant 4- Rowan Atkinson 5- Ricky Gervais 6- Peter Sellers
Congratulations on that ? What do you mean ? Congratulations on your kids being 6 and 9 ? Seriously Americans... I love you guys but you need to stop with the family thing..
EdHead1974 I do have a heart and I do love children and I've been raised in a big family and I will have children one day. I just think there's too much importance given to the actors' private lives in talk shows - especially Ellen, whom I love - today. Congratulations on your new baby, alright... But in this context Jimmy makes no sense at all. Being applauded for having children ? Come on. He came to talk about his film. Graham Norton does not do that in the UK and we don't either in France.
EdHead1974 As a French, I am also trying hard to understand why Americans need to cry over love and feelings all the time. I love my family, they know it, we don't feel like we have to cry and go "awwww" because we love each other. In the end, the whole thing gets really cheesy. But that's my opinion and it doesn't mean there aren't a lot of things I love in American culture :)
I always heard French people had trouble showing emotion, but I never believed it until now. While I agree applauding for having older children is kind of weird, having an emotional connection to family is not "cheesy." I love my family, too, but we don't cry when we say I love you. I don't know where you heard that myth, but it's not true. If you're just basing it off of American television, you're misinformed. While some families can be over-emotional, most are not. Just like the rest of the world, Americans love their families and would do anything for them. And if it prompts tears, so be it. It only means that we love each other that much more. Showing emotion does not make you any less of a person; it makes you human. :)
Even if you think you may not like them, give one of them a try. They are such good movies. Personally, I think return of the king is best, but don't start with it for sake of spoilers.
If you like LOTR then you will like these, they aren't quite as serious as LOTR, but they are great! But nothing will ever beat LOTR, those movies are pure epic perfection.
I just can't --and believe me, I try-- get to like Jimmy Fallon. I mean, he's not the worst host ever or anything like that, and I do find him very occasionally sort of funny but... he's just bad.
To any Wizarding World staff: PLEASE HIRE MARTIN FREEMAN. (IDC WHEN. MAYBE IN A REMAKE???) Roles he would nail include: - Lupin - Quirrel - Arthur Weasley - A male version of professor sprout (Yes cuz he’s a true hufflepuff) - Hagrid

I know he's joking but was he that good or well recognized to possibly just get offered to play parts in HP series? Most of adult actors in HP are already famous and have been respected in UK for a long time. Yes he was Tim in Office but that's all. His career started after Sherlock.
picklepie orangemeat plus there's no major character suitable for him that i can imagine him in that the current actor doesn't already do well... maybe barty crouch sr
I don't agree at all. Grrm does not have the epic battles and adventure that Tolkien has. I feel that asoiaf is a more modern epic Shakespearean type of series. I like asoiaf a lot but he concentrates on too many viewpoints that the general public really could care less about.

FBAWTFT lmao
HP to FBAWTFT wow
Colin Farrell was also asked by Graham Norton whether he had been contacted by HP's casting people...
sarah854r4h I think Benedict Cumberbatch also mentioned about not being about Harry Potter too but didn't go deeply into it
Euclase Artist
benedict's good he got himself into the Marvel universe.
maybe Martin will be in FBAWTFT
He could've played Professor Lupin ... or possibly Arthur Weasly as someone pointed out would've been great. Ugh now I'm recasting the movies in my head again
+MiracleMira Ah yes I could see him as Arthur Weasly. In fact, he kind of looks like the actor that did play Arthur. Little resemblance.
+Terri Kim Noo Athur Weasly is described as very tall and very skinny. Freeman is a geat actor, but he is too small..
I would have loved him as Lupin so much..
+MiracleMira Dedalus Diggle tho
the-creative-lieThat is SO true!
I know right?! He should have been in Harry Potter! There were plenty of anxious, hesitant wizards he could have played.
he would have been an awesome Lupin and Benedict would have been perfect for Sirius.
josabby474 gary oldman is 100 times better than cumberbitch
Zico Kun thou shalt not spew hatred about doctor strange
josabby474
No and No
***** I doubt you even knew who dr strange was before cumberbitch was cast as him.

+Pendragonthegreat omg you're so right hahahahaha
+Pendragonthegreat haha spot on
:P
he could have played Professor Sprout😂👌
+Paula Omg! this fucking killed me
Harry Potter re-make with Martin Freeman as Remus Lupin and Benedict Cumberbatch as Sirius Black! I'm in! :D
Or Snape. Benedict would kill it as Snape. (And now with Mr Rickman gone he can play him in Cursed Child aswell)
Cumberbatch as Young Tom Jedusor.
+kevin niang Hermione is not an attractive character.
Trust me they could have done way better.
its.lorry with a bad French waiter. They need to have a bad French waiter in the new one

??
I have a 17 & 11 year old, no one has ever congratulated me in 17 & 11 years.
Congratulations
Judge Claude Frollo
Aww, thank you!!! :)
yes, congratulations
+tkmaz I'm so proud of you, CONGRATS!
WOW...it feels like Mother's Day. ;)
This is by far one of the best Fallon interviews I've seen
yeah completely agree;)
True. I only cringed 158 times instead of the usual 234 times.
he's so squishy and adorable. he really does have a cute flickable face haha
Be careful where you say that. Sherlock might shoot you in the face.
dont go there!
I wanna flick his nose to see his reaction.
SparkzMxzXZ
Niceeeeeeeeee, SHERLOCK FOREVER
squishy?lol
Martin Freeman looks like a hedgehog
He's always looked like a hedgehog. One made of kittens and cutesy creatures. He hates being called an adorable hedgehog, but it's true.
***** Why?
God has spoken, and so it is.
God said we need a hedgehog!
i approve this
is it just me or he looks like Arthur Weasly?
I just about to comment this, he does look like him a lot :p
dinda g haha ikr
He could play a young Arthur Weasley :D
try Arthur Dent
***** me too.....but then.....google..
Don't cast him as a role that's been taken. What about a role we Didn't see?
How about LUDO BAGMAN?
+Darth Parallax and before you say ''he's too nice for that role''-- the beautiful wonderful thing about British Actors is you can always cast based on the face-- because each and everyone of the full grown ones is qualified as an actor to put on the whole show one-man or one-woman.
YES
Baggins to Bagman
omg mind blown
He would have been perfect
Frodo Sagbag
He could've played the older version of Neville Longbottom, or Professor Lupin (who's my fav character in the books)
Lupin is one of my faves too, but I never liked the actor in the movie. I remember they asked Ewan Mcgregour or something like that. I always Imagined him as a perfect Lupin!
SandyTheMaster lupin died sillygoose
Tovah Reed exactly :)
Tovah Reed who are you my English teacher? Lol jk
I love how honest he is, he's such a sweetheart
"...like orphans in a Dickens book" LOL
I just love his nasal british accent
I was thinking the same
Yeah, I love it too. There is something about his voice.
If I had only one percent of his accent, I swear that I'd never shut up.
i have his accent and i never shut up haha
Can he PLEASE be the 13th Doctor
God no. He's way too talented for that average at best show
Jacob McMillan Doctor Who is nowhere near an average show!!!
I agree.
omg yes
Jacob McMillan +1 bro XD
I'm glad that Martin is opening up more about his personal life a little bit, and I'm not saying that because I'm a fan and wish to know about his family, I'm saying that because, it's difficult to see an actor you like be defensive about a lot when asked certain questions. Blais six and nine 69 lolololol
Elijah Hughes Grow up. These are his kids. You're disgusting to think that.
lol man i am just messing around...... take a joke (69 is over in the media i was just having a laugh)
Basil When did he say "none of your fucking business" in response to that question?
ConspiracyJuice It was an interview with ZMTV regarding the Hobbit films. He was asked what his kids thought, but the interviewer said, ''What do your daughters think of their dad being the Hobbit?''
''Well, I'm surprised they've both become girls.''
''Do you have two daughters or do you have a boy and a girl?''

but seriously, could martin freeman ever do anything wrong??? the guy's perfect actor!!!
2:04 I love how Martin can make show hosts speechless with his quick wit
WHEN WILL THE NEW SEASON OF SHERLOCK AND FARGO COME OUT!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT MUCH LONGER!!!!!!
YOU AND ME BOTH!
Sherlock has a christmas special!! ...in 2015 :/
lilcummy BUT THAT'S A YEAR AWAY!
not sure but I dont believe freemans even in the new season of fargo. If I remember right, the only actor thats staying is mollys dad...bummer :(
mathhihus0101 This is correct. They are going back even further in time next season.
Waiting for Martin and Morgan Freeman to meet or have an interview together.
Lilaina - or him and Emma Watson 😂
he's already in the hobbit and sherlock holmes, i think it's ok if he's not in harry potter
Martin Freeman is awesome! He's one of the best actors in the business.
Wow. This man is truly a great actor. In Fargo he seems like a middle aged not the best looking everyday sad dude, but in real life he's completely different and he's actually attractive even though he physically looks the same. Great actor!
why am I always watching these while folding laundry?
I'm also upset I wasn't in Harry Potter. But no one cares about that, do they ?
GeekGodess No, no they don't.
fs87 this cruel world aha
GeekGodess Well as long as you care, that's all that matters :)
Martain is awesome. The Hobbit transports you into this amazing world that you never want to leave. You cry with them, rejoice with them, and feel all they're pain...
"Martain" who is this Martain you speak of?
Cheyenne Douthitt Who the hell is martain?
Cheyenne Douthitt Who the hell is martain?
+Cheyenne “awesome-sause” Douthitt the Movies are shit. Read the books to truly transport yourself to middle earth
their*
He did such a fucking awesome American accent in Civil War...
Martin Freeman is so kind and amazing! I met him in person in London this holidays, he was just the sweetest :3
You are so lucky! It is my dream to meet him! He is my favourite actor!
Maybe he can be in the new Fantastic Beasts series at some point instead! :D
Lady Alfhildr of the Forest of Violet Mists I hope so. Benedict Cumberbatch should be in them too.
Lady Alfhildr of the Forest of Violet Mists
Not exactly as cool. :p
+Hannahpauline What's not as cool? The Fantastic Beasts Movies or Benedict Cumberbatch? Either way, I am inclined to disagree... :)
YES
He can play Rubeus Hagrid sr or a young Cornelius fudge
That little 'oi' he made at 2:16 is too cute
He would be an amazing professor Lupin
But the current Professor Lupin is amazing, too. What should we do? )
I think he would have played Lupin less like a gay junkie.
Or a cool Peter Pettigrew... And also, I kinda see him as a Death Eater, like Crabb, Goyle or Yaxley.
To be fair to David Thewlis though, Alfonso Cuaron did tell him to play Lupin that way
This is 2 yrs old, but major lupin vibes in him...CONFIRMED
Benedict Cumberbatch was never in Harry Potter, was he?
No I don't think so.
Lauren Conrad no, but he wasn't famous at all at the time.
was martin freeman?
Leonard Fahrwald Have you seen the video ^^
i meant was martin freeman famous at the time
When ever Jimmy says he has seen someones work, I NEVER believe him.
me neither
How actually cool would it be to have your Dad play Bilbo in The Hobbit?
I love the sound of his voice and the melody of his words
I love his accent ;-)
I have already watched The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and omg IT'S AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
martin freeman's level of cool, intelligence, honesty, realness, etc., is so high up fallon can't handle it.
Guys, one word: Peeves.
OH my god YES!
PERFECT!!
His role as Watson in Sherlock is tremendously good!
Maybe he could be in the Fantastic Beasts Trilogy. Also if he was in Harry Potter, he could have had a cameo role as Dawlish, which could have been a much longer role than the one that was portrayed.
Martins grandma works at the hospital in my town. The was a line going all through the hospital just so everyone could see Martin Freeman
Love him and Benedict in Sherlock!!!!
Am I the only one who really loves Martin Freeman's voice and and British accent??
Martin Freeman fits the character of Bilbo Baggins PERFECTLY!
aw watching Martin interviews on his birthday I love this guy 💖
If he wasn't in Harry Potter movies, he can still play a character in the next Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them
He has the most unique voice ever, I just imagine "Sherlock" when I hear his voice
Martin freeman is so humble... :)
I just... I mean...
I just really want a hug from Martin
Martin Freeman wearing a Mark Powell Suit! IM IN LOVE
Jimmy Fallon seems to have a hard time talking to intellectuals during interviews.
I NEVER REALIZED HE WAS A DAD. LIKE ARE HIS KIDS FREAKED OUT THAT ALL THESE WOMEN LOVE THEIR DAD?!?!
And guys-
He seems like such a nice guy and a fun Dad.
Saw all parts of The Hobbit in IMAX when they came out and it was amazing!
+DarkGlacies I will rent or buy the movie, I didn't see it yet.
+Nellie K. Adaba - Yeah well i will buy an IMAX and a movie because i did not see it yet. There.
He's really got hobbit/ pixie whatever mythical being ears and and yet manages to be so handsome....how?!!!! Proud of his crossover success.
I so want him to be in a comedy film.. He can knock it out of the park
For those of you that are asking who the other 6 actors that weren't in the HP films I came up with a list of names: 1- Martin Freeman 2- Sean Bean 3- Hugh Grant 4- Rowan Atkinson 5- Ricky Gervais 6- Peter Sellers
Sinan Sipahiler -Hugh Grant was on the list for Gilderoy Lockhart
he didn't curse that whole time. Who is this and what have they done with Martin Freeman
No but are there any audio books read by this man cuz i need them
His voice is so calming somehow
He did Douglas Adams' books, I think.
I'm just seeing John
2:02
And here, class, we witness the king of sass in his natural habitat.
I'm upset for the same reason :((( I still wait for my letter from Hogwarts
I was actually half expecting at the end of Hobbit 3 to see up on the screen "Hobbit part 3 part 2, coming next winter"
Congratulations on that ? What do you mean ? Congratulations on your kids being 6 and 9 ? Seriously Americans... I love you guys but you need to stop with the family thing..
Congratulations on having two ejaculations and keep them alive:)
Children are a blessing. So congratulations aren't strange. Some people that dream of having children can't have them. Have a heart. :'(
EdHead1974 I do have a heart and I do love children and I've been raised in a big family and I will have children one day. I just think there's too much importance given to the actors' private lives in talk shows - especially Ellen, whom I love - today. Congratulations on your new baby, alright... marten is great , humble simple funny and talented
WHEN IS SHERLOCK SEASON 4 COMING OUT?!?!?!?
Probably when our corpses have been decomposed
Not until early 2016 . And there doing a holiday special coming December 2015 , and they don't start filming until early 2015 .
IKR!
3:00 big spiders? how about the nevromancer, sauron or any of the fighting scenes?
And now he can go back to Sherlock, WE'VE WAITED LONG ENOUGH!!!!!
He's saying goodbye to everyone....... but Benedict. Im sure he's like, "Goodbye Ian, goodbye Orlando, see you in like two weeks for Sherlock, Benny."
Are the movies any good? I have completely dismissed them thinking they are probably too boring.
If you like the Lord of the Rings, you'll probably like the Hobbit, it just doesn't have the big action scenes that LotR has.
I've never managed to stay awake through the lord of the rings movies, but the hobbit is much more entertaining. Less boring fight montages.
I don't like them at all, they got the tone all wrong. But then again I like "boring fight montages." :p
Even if you think you may not like them, give one of them a try. They are such good movies. Personally, I think return of the king is best, but don't start with it for sake of spoilers.

This came on in the background, so I just kind of listened to it. Was sitting here when suddenly this caught my ear... 2:20
Anyone else for a little hobbit surfing?
So it was me and 6 others not in Harry Potter... oh Martin :'D
AT 1:34 IT LOOKS LIKE JIMMY HITS MARTIN! LOL THE WAY HIS HANDS MOVES AND THE SOUND AND HOW MARTIN MOVES HIS HEAD. WATCH IT!!!!!!
I love him on Sherlock!
Get Martin to be Newt Scamander in the next Harry Potter film series!
Lol you are The Hobbit and Sherlock's helper! +Sherlock is the dragon! No Harry Potter can have that!!!
I love Martin Freeman! He's awesome.
Im sorry but where is the musical guest Yusuf Islam/ Cat Stevens? Hope we see the video up soon.
I just can't --and believe me, I try-- get to like Jimmy Fallon. I mean, he's not the worst host ever or anything like that, and I do find him very occasionally sort of funny but... he's just bad.
Whichever way you put it, he's better than Kimmel...
Don't watch him.
omg i love martin freeman! he still does that awkward thing where he purses his lips. watch him from 0:47
"Mild peril"
To any Wizarding World staff:
PLEASE HIRE MARTIN FREEMAN. (IDC WHEN. MAYBE IN A REMAKE???)
Roles he would nail include:
- Lupin
- Quirrel
- Arthur Weasley
- A male version of professor sprout (Yes cuz he’s a true hufflepuff)
- Hagrid
I mean i liked the first hobbit movie but i feel they stretched it out too much its a small book and definitely didnt need 3 films 1 or 2 would have been enough
Just saw the last hobbit movie, Really good.
i love him so much
"is it sad that it's ending"
of course not he's probably relieved that he doesn't have to make any more of these
I know he's joking but was he that good or well recognized to possibly just get offered to play parts in HP series? Most of adult actors in HP are already famous and have been respected in UK for a long time. Yes he was Tim in Office but that's all. His career started after Sherlock.
and tbh his looks are just not right to be in HP world.
but right for Hobbit?
+86upsmaya that's why they casted him.
+mintz vo i actually think he would look good in HP as Arthur weasly or lupin maybe lol
picklepie orangemeat plus there's no major character suitable for him that i can imagine him in that the current actor doesn't already do well... maybe barty crouch sr
Wow. Most people on this show mess around with Jimmy..... but Martin is so sophisticated...
What could be worse than jimmy fallon's fake laugh?
At which minute he does that? Lots of people are saying it im just curious though
phil27hardie 0:12 is one of them, but he can do WAY worse than that
+Katahn Hardy Jimmy Fallon speaking over Martin's punchlines.
Martin Freeman was the perfect guy to play Bilbo, because he basically just looks like a Hobbit! ;-)
damn baggins
From the side Martin looks like Dermet O Leary😂😂
Bilbo Baggins > Harry Potter
Tolkien > Rowling
eblalgen George R.R. Martin > Tolkien
I don't agree at all. Grrm does not have the epic battles and adventure that Tolkien has. I feel that asoiaf is a more modern epic Shakespearean type of series. I like asoiaf a lot but he concentrates on too many viewpoints that the general public really could care less about.
How?
And now, every other argument will be invalid. The Doctor has spoken.
