This song makes me cry. Because my friend was an Aquarius and I was a Virgo, so when I first heard this song I had to show her it and she loved the song. Me and her would always sing this and dance to it and all. But one morning I got a call from her father saying that her and her mother had got into a car crash that morning, and that she passed away. After that horrible accident I always listened to this song and remember her and me dancing and singing to this song. I will never forget her.
Another example of being glad what you have because you never know when it might fade away.....

Just watched Star Crossed on netflix and loved this song so I had to find it, great work.
I've been doing some research, and the Age of Aquarius was supposed to be a like a utopia. for those who don't know, a utopia is a place where evertything is almost perfect. btw I LOVE THIS SONG!! 😄
You have to remember that the original song came out at the height of the hippie movement in the 70s. 'communist ideas' are gaining foothold. Fittingly, many wished for a utopia with love and harmony. We all know how it ended. Things are taken too far extreme with free love->sex. Drugs became involved. Especially LSD to awakening spiritualism.
A few ideals that are left over from that era: idea of open communal-ism (internet and social networks), peace and enviromentalism are very much main-stream now. But capitalism proved to be the necessary evil. Note the the song actually didn't talk anything about capitalism at all. People just take it to themselves that they could and should be able to live on their own, free from the constraints of '9-5' jobs and the mainstream work>family. That one can live without any of those (work, family, material belongings) is not being realistic. (you still need to eat food and a place to live some-how)
And while drugs are not pure evil, they are not completely innocent either. They are still a lie and still mess with your brains.
The real hippies don't really exist anymore. Real homeless are neither favored nor recognized as a alternative way to live. We enjoy relative peace than any time in history and yet people still fight and kill each other over terrorities, religions and political beliefs. That idea of fully-realized utopia is all but unattainable.
That being said, this song reminds me of the essence of humanity: community spirit, sharing, harmony, love and trust in each others. And make me believe that we are slowly getting there.
In terms of actual age, in Astrology a new era takes place once every 2000-2150 years, known as a shift. We were in the Age of Pisces which is about hierarchy and order, and attaching your identity to an ideal/ideology/religion/etc. There are of course a bit of discussion on when this age started but around 2011/2012 is when it did and we are currently in the early years of the Age of Aquarius. This is supposedly a new "golden age" and characteristics of this age is rampant and widespread use of knowledge and contacts. The age of information and the age of self-discovery and enlightenment. Many Buddhists and Hindus believe in a concept of the Ages.
But these are just some fun facts. It is said a shift in Ages will cause the earlier Age fear of change and retaliation. Some the beginning of this age is hectic but will ease down through the course of this century. Whether you believe or not is up to you, but I for one can say there is truth to this.

Without going into too much detail, for those of you sincere in seeking to experience higher states of existence begin by studying the pineal gland and from there you should be able to follow the rabbit whole to whatever beautiful experiences you desire whether through internal or external means. Peace and love. Unity and respect. Bliss and happiness.

@@mademoiselleabbey Basically, there has been a lot of control on Earth fpr thousands pf years. The age of Aquarius means the golden age. The age in which we can all live in harmony. There is a mass awakening happening on Earth. The old control systems that didn't work are breaking down. To make way for a better way of life. One in which we can co-exist with nature.
We have transitioned to the age of aquarius (Dec 21, 2012) ;)

ppl it is not about the aquarius sign but if you get happy thinking that it is fine. But it is about astrologic time, an age of light, peace and love that comes after the age we are in
I adore the HAIR musical which is where the original Aquarius track comes from. I have heard literally dozens of versions of the song, but this definitely comes in the top three. It has so much emotion, so much power, and it is so beautiful... I particularly like the fact that you can actually hear the lyrics and appreciate their meaning, whereas in other interpretations of the song it can sometimes be difficult to actually hear what is being sung. Fantastic! And so, so appropriate for the theme of the show, as well, and the way that it was used in that scene.
