- Sound not coming from tv hdmi - If you connect your laptop with your TV using HDMI cable and if the audio is not coming from the TV but instead it is coming from the laptop then here is the solution to fix that problem.

Idk why , but the video is displayed on my TV , but when I opened sounds settings , playback , I didn't find a TV

Same. Even when all sound settings on MacBook were set to the external device. No sound from sound bar - just internal speakers 🤷🏻♂️
OMG THANK U SO MUCHHH😭😭😭 My dad was struggling with this problem since last night, he was going to listen to RUclips with the TV but no sound so he raised the volume of the laptop instead😭 He has been listening to the laptop instead of the TV since last night untill now thank u so muchhh😭
If your tv is not showing in the laptop, kindly restart your laptop, but HDMI cable should b in connected to tv and laptop at that time....my problem got resolved after doing this 😊
OMG! Thank you! I was going nuts trying to figure out what was the issue. I disconnected the laptop from the TV, changed the HDMI connection, looked at the TV audio settings... etc. Then I finally thought to check with my best friend, RUclips, and voila, at the 2:15 mark on your video and the issue was resolved! 😊 👍
Hi. I have the same issue, but my tv isn't showing in playback devices, even if i enable Disabled and Disconnected Devices. I've been battling my way through my laptop and tv settings and rewording many google searches but still nothing and it only happens in my tv, but it works fine on others for some reason. Any kind of help is highly appreciated.

If you still need help, I suggest going to the Control Panel > Add Device > Install your tv. Then it should appear under playback devices, but since you installed it it should automatically have the tv as the playback device. If it still doesn’t show (or decides to disappear, like mine) , restart your pc with the hdmi cord still plugged in. Also make sure you have arc playback enabled on your tv as well! Seems to be an issue with smart tvs. Could also be an issue with the hdmi cord you’re using.
Thanks ya my tv wasn't showing up either, so I restarted my laptop with the hdmi still plugged in and once it restarted voila!! We have sound!!

Although the cable is connected and the picture shows on the tv, tv is not shown as a playback option so I can’t set it as default. It was working ok before I did the upgrade!

i dont see any other option other than "SPEAKERS" in that playblack list. the Screen is mirrored but no sound. ANY IDEA?

Thank you som much! This is the solution I was looking for! No idea why this was only available in the (old school) menu and not teh default Windows 11 sound options menu.
why is the tv option not showing in the settings-after the hdmi is plugged into the tv and the laptop?
i think that means either your tv doesn't have speakers or they are really old

Thank you for your instructions. It really help me to find out the problem. I appreciate it. My problem was that when I connected my laptop to second screen there was no sound but because my second screen was the default output. After changing the default output to my pc speaker it worked.
After changing to PC speaker, was the sound coming from the TV or the PC speaker?

Sound settings looks nothing like that and there is no playback option. I followed your instructions exactly and couldn't even get two steps in... Very frustrating
I got a tv that had been used in a store as a display. There is no remote, so I cannot check the tv settings. It is not a laptop that isn't working here. It is all things BUT the tv makes a sound for when it turns on, and when different inputs are opening. It also tells me it is going to turn off. Purely no audio for device output. The HDMI cords all work. The inputs look fine. I expect that the tv itself needs to be reset, but perhaps not as it was unplugged for months.

Unplugged hdmi cable on the TV side and plugged it back in.. solved the problem.
I had the issue where everything was displayed but no audio did everything from changing the cable to re setting everything nothing seemed to work then i simply just shut everything down (power supply wise) and switched it on after a minute everything was working fine so a simple reset and re-start can work wonders

I have sound when using the HDMI 1. When I switch to the HDMI 2 input I still hear the audio from the HDMI 1 source.

this did literally nothing other than just switch which device its supposed to come out of. my problem is i have the tv selected and it still doesnt play anything. i see the sound bars going up and down like something is happening but i hear nothing

I have a hp laptop with display port. I have taken the monitor because the screen of the laptop is bad. Video appears when I connect the monitor to the display port but the audio output from the audio jack is off When you connect the vga cable, you can see the video and also the audio.

My new Onn TV does not want to recognize the computer if the HDMI comes from the output of the reciever, only if the HDMI from the computer is connected directly to TV. Although come to think of it, in both cases I have connected the Optical cable from TV to the reciever if that makes a difference. I wonder why it would.
Also when I go on RUclips which I spent most my time at, Playing youtube directly from TV and receiver, the sound is 20 times louder, than through the computer. It almost gave me a heart attack today when I happen to stumble on it. I just purchased this tv yesterday.
My previous TV was able to recognize the computer either way. The previous TV had one HDMI. and this one has 4 but that just gives you 4 HDMI options. My reciever has 4 hdmi input.
But what if I want both...I want the sound on my pc to play netflix in my office while I want the TV to play Amazon movies in another room. Right now I get the sound from Netflix AND Amazon on my pc speaker......so annoying.....how do I solve it?
