Hey there, A bunch of us shell collectors were recently told that it is illegal to remove any kind of coral (even dead coral) from Florida beaches. Is this true? We were all pretty upset about this. Now I’m second guessing what we were told, especially since with you being a Florida resident, you would know. Can you clear the air for us? Thanks so much❤️
Well now you have me wondering. I just went down a coral rabbit hole and the information isn't clear. I believe it is fine to collect DEAD coral you find on the beach, however I put a call into FWC to see if I can get a real answer for you. I'm curious as well now too, so I will report back when I hear back from them 🤔
Thank you so much for checking into this for us. I figured if anyone could get to the bottom of this you could😊 None of us want to do any damage to the environment, and our beaches are oh so special to us❤
@@ginniemcdermott9961 Same here! I thought it was a no-brainer, but it’s a bit more complicated than I thought. I will get to the bottom of this and share!
I just checked and it is not illegal to remove dead coral pieces from the beaches of Florida. “The harvest of live-rock, substrate with living organisms attached, is illegal unless harvested at a licensed aquaculture area.” Only live coral and dead coral that have live sea creatures attached.
@@777sgiles I’ve been digging in that same rabbit hole as Sharmon. According to the Florida Marine Resources Act (FMRA) & also the Florida Administrative Code Chapter 68B-42 “declares it unlawful to take or possess any coral dead or alive from the waters of Florida including shores, beaches, and adjacent lands.” This sounds pretty cut & dry to me, I don’t know. Maybe Sharmon will find something different. We all hope so. 🤗
Love all your videos. I have been taking my older son with me to the beach and telling him what all the seashells are that we find. He tells me, mom I can’t believe you know all the names of all these seashells. I tell him I learned from SWF Beach Life. I send him your videos, he loves them as much as I do. Thank You for educating us and taking us along. You are the best!!! ❤
Isn't she just? I, too, amaze my friends by knowing so many names of shells. Knowing the names of things in nature is a family tradition handed down from my maternal grandfather who was a farmer. Maybe a little ahead of his time bc he insisted that it showed respect for the land to know the names of things: cardinal not red bird, narcissi not flowers, flounder not fish, etc. Enjoy your beach time with your son - happy memories.
Well if you are learning along with me, you have the same sense of curiosity and wonder about our world. Thank you for coming along with me on my trips!
It’s pronounced ‘ Day- ni- a Beach ‘ 😉 . Just letting you know that’s all . I live in North Miami Beach and I can’t let a fellow Floridian go around Florida pronouncing the name wrong !
Than you so much for taking the time to pick up the garbage off the beaches you visit, I so appreciate your efforts to help keep our beaches beautiful.

Don’t bother with the state parks by Destin…no shells and I mean NO shells! I asked about shells and was told by a lifeguard that they never have shells.🤪. Good luck!
Good evening, Beach Angel and all present! I think those funky shells should be called biscuit shells, as they resemble unbaked biscuits! I like the yellow to orange oyster shell! Makes me think of the nightly colored scallop shells. Neat seeds and fun to think about how far they've travelled! It's always so sad to see the Man O' War stranded and dead. Their sails carry them where they don't want to go sometimes. A few years before I married my late husband, I had a chance to go to Ft. Walton Beach on the panhandle of Florida. There were hundreds of sea cucumbers washed up on the beaches, their deaths staining the pure white sand violet and purple. Nobody could get into the water, there were so many. The emerald water was dyed purple and stained the skin of anyone venturing into it. It made me so sad! Those spectral bittersweets are so cute! Love that limpet! This seemed like you had a fun day shelling at Pelican Pavilion after all! Thanks for taking us along! Much love to you, Beach Angel, and to all my beachy friends from Rebecca, The Lost Mermaid 🧜🐚🌹💖
I'm glad I didn't have my heart set on being on the beach at a certain time. The state park didn't open until 8am - so I only had to wait about 10 minutes to get out there. I was rather surprised to find out it was a state park at the end of that road! I should have know better considering the lack of homes. What a story of all those sea cucumbers. Very sad indeed. There is a weird thing going on with the fish in The Keys. They are spinning out. Someone has asked me a few weeks ago if I had heard anything and at the time I hadn't. I hope they figure it out. I worry for our coral reefs and the acidification of our oceans.
The colours of the shells were so pretty and bright. Such striking designs. You did find different wonderful things, even though it was slim pickings. You had to try. It is amazing how many goggles you found and a mask, a plastic bottle, a plastic hair bands, bracelet, etc. So that was good to get that off the beach. Last year I went to a beach 30kms south west of Rome. It was packed in summer. It amazes me how much garbage people leave on the beach. 😢 There was a huge piece of plastic, like a sheet of long plastic that I picked up off the beach. They have bins with signs on them for beach garbage. Nobody was bothered by the plastic, not even the life guards. If that got deep into the water on the tide going out, it would have been a hazard. For our marine life and humans. Every bit we do, helps. Thanks for another very interesting video on the East coast this time. The blue bottles sting like hell. That's what we call them in South Africa.😅 See you next week. Waving from Germany 👋👋😁 Take good care Sharmon. 💗⛱️🐚
Hello Germany!!! I feel the same about the plastics and microplastics. Oh what we're doing to our planet! Every once counts. I've seen videos with people swimming in the ocean WITH the garbage. Other people tell me they pick up garbage too, so there is a small army of us trying to make a change! 💪🏻 Thank you for what you do too!!! 🙏🏼
12:20 and 13:40 and 24:20 and 27:30 Chama macerophylla. I had fossil ones the size of a billiard ball. 17:20 Spondylus americanus. It is the pointy valve that's sticking out.
You really are a treasure trove of info. I have a Lazarus jewelbox that I treasure. I can only imagine the billiard ball ones! The shells I've learned I find on a consistent basis - it's a lot harder for me to learn the shells I find only occasionally. Thank you once again!!
I had no idea there were so many different bittersweeks! And jewel boxes! Very exciting. I was surprised at the lack of birds given that you were at a state park.. Amazed also at how many people were on the beach by the end of your walk. TFS. You're the best! ❤
Although there werent many shells love the thorny oysters.. and the east coast still wanted to give you some love in the heart stone!! Thank you for taking us along.. you never know what you can find at any time.. so happy you kept the queen shard!❤
That was another fascinating day at the beach with my beach buddy, Shar. Thanks so much for taking me along. I just love all of our finds! I giggled at the Hamburger Bean,.. it's so cute! That beautiful Sundial shell is awesome! That overnight oatmeal looked very yummy! Thank you for the recipe. The seaglass was lovely as well. Thank you for lifting some of the junk off of the beach. You are leaving some beautiful "Footprints" wherever you go. I appreciate you for all you do, Shar. It was a gorgeous day at the beach. Looking forward to our day at Sunny Sanibel. See you next Sunday, my Beach buddy. 🏖♥
Dear Sharmon, What a lovely morning on the beach! When it was beach time, I closed my eyes, imagining that I was walking in the beach, smelling that typical beach smell...🩵 The sundial you found is gorgeous! I've never seen one before. Same for all the jewel box type shells. Those colors!! Wow! Seaglass collectors call the color of green/ blue piece you found "seafoam." Send some warmth this way! It's cold and rainy, and we all are in desperate need of some warmth and sunshine! I hope you have a wonderful week! Sending you lots of love and a big hug, xoxo ❤, Ilona
I smelled the ocean when I went to the East Coast!!! I don't normally smell it. I'm either used to it or we don't have that salt smell over here but I SMELLED the ocean when I got there. It was lovely. I don't miss the Atlantic per se, but it was nice to give her a visit. She sure does have some lovely shells when she decides to give them up! ❤️
@@SWFBeachLife That is so great--it is like my many eye of shiva shells too Bye the way @24:14 I mussst have in my special treasure box TOO! Did anyone identify it . . did not see any name on the video screen. Shells that have WAVES in their very exterior make up are the bestest
What a fun trip to Florida's "other" coast this week! We were on the beach at Emerald Isle NC over Easter weekend, after a big storm went through, and we found more shells than I've EVER seen in 50+ years of going to that beach in spring and summer. Heaps of big cockle shells, olives, baby's ears, buttercup lucenes, bay and calico scallops, a partial sharks eye that was nearly fist sized, a couple of whelks, lots of spiral ends of pear whelks, and a couple things that I think shouldn't have been this far north -- a helmet shell (with a piece out of it, but it came home with me anyway) and a couple of nutmegs. Still wasn't the equal of shelling on Sanibel, but it was absolutely amazing for this area! I came off that first beach walk just buzzing. What can I make from a big stack of Atlantic cockle shells? Maybe a wreath?
I love that buzzing feeling!!! And that is why I rush to the beach as silly-o'clock to see what's out there. Seeing those piles juts makes my heart sing!!! I'm so glad you got to experience that!!
Your shell at 2:30 is a Thin Cyclinella. I was there in February and the beach was littered with them. It looks like you found a combination of Wavy Bittersweets and Decussate Bittersweets. You'd have to look into that a little further. Let's Talk Seashells does a great job distinguishing between the two. It's a great resource. 24:18 is a Hoof Snail and 27:20 is a Pretty Jewel Box. Hope this was helpful.
The thin cyclinella looks like so many other little white shells - aaahhhh. And I was wondering about the decussate bittersweets. The umbra looked centered on most of them, but it's likely I got some of them wrong. I will have to try the Let's Talk Seashells website again. I've definitely been there before, but I find it hard to navigate.
The beach is always fun but you just confirmed my opinion...SWF beaches are still the best. Lol! The new interesting finds are cool but I love the oldie but goodies found on the gulf side. The beaches, the sand, even the colors are just so unique and inviting. The east coast is a bit more wild or fierce (for lack of a better term) for my taste. Thank you for reaffirming my love for SWF! Lol! Can't wait for Sanibel!
I think you were right about the leafy jewelboxes and the PA lucines. I believe that beautiful yellowish shell was a thorny oyster. There are so many varieties with them but they're usually all beautiful. I don't see red-brown arks up here. The water really was very clear that day. Cows?!😂 Could that have been a worn albino leafy jewelbox at 24 min? Really cool whatever it was. Very cool variety of corals there. Congrats on the sundial too. Thanks Sharmon! xxoo
I think that albino leafy was a "pretty" jewelbox. There are so many of them! I find those red brown arks down here from time to time. Have a super week G!
Lovely walk on the wild (Atlantic) side! Love the super colorful oysters and different types of jewel boxes you found. Thank you for helping me identify a shell I found on either Sanibel or FMB - it's a spectral bittersweet - woohoo! I was in Cape Cod last week and picked a few scallop shells up off the beach. They're so much bigger and thicker (and less colorful!) than the scallops I've found in SW Florida. Cool to compare. Have a great week! I'll be on the beaches here over the next 10 days. Can't wait to see what I see! 🙂
I really enjoyed this week’s video and the perspective of visiting somewhere new. Great, great video. You just keep knocking it out of the park, thank you so much for the fantastic beach/shelling videos.
I've been to a few Atlantic beaches in Florida and they are all different. Some have more shells than others, as you experienced. I can walk in one direction and there will be so many shells and then walk in the opposite direction of the same beach and nothing. So strange. I've had very good success at Riviera beach in West Palm Beach. Morning walks have been rewarding with scotch bonnets, shark eyes sundials and loads of bittersweets. Would like to see you explore that area. Thanks for the walk, it's always enjoyable.
When my daughter was about 5 or so in Pompano Beach there were some type of jellyfish (they were bluish purplish) dead in pieces) floating on the water right next to the sand and of course she touched it and boy she had a tingling stingy feeling and learned her lesson even after I told her not to touch them. Lifeguard said to use benadryl. East coast surely has different shells then the west coast. I always found great little shells when the seaweed came on shore especially limpids. Still have to get over to the west coast
Some of those really thick pieces of colorful shells are smoothed on the edges and then wire wrapped for pendants I belong to our local rock club in southern utah, and we have some very talented crafting silver, copper and brass wire wrappers I watch your videos and get right into the excitement of finding a new treasure . Thank you sooo much for your fun videos. They make this old lady want to desert snorkel
My local, and favorite state park! Come after a big storm one day and it should be a lot more fruitful lol! I’ve found sozones cones, cabrits murexes, queen conchs, flats, and my personal favorite rams horns!!
Ok, you have me convinced. I had heard Dania Beach was great and it's one of the closer beaches to me being on the West Coast. I will definitely try again after a storm! 🙏🏼 Thank you!
Thanks for the info on dipping my murex, banded tulips, and crowns in acid. They all turned out beautifully. The murex got all their color back!! Love them!! Including some rose murex!
You have found some really wonderful and unusual shells In this video! It was such fun…even the pieces of shells. And the sundial was stunning! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Sharmon! Thanks again for a fun video. I was thinking that you might want to link up with Roxanne from Florida Beach Walks, RUclips channel. She does so much east coast shelling and is very knowledgeable. Maybe she could help with your id’s. Happy Shelling!
I just enjoy your videos so much I look forward to them every Sunday. It really does help relieve my stress. As soon as those studios are working again I'm going to become a patron
That one round white shell looks like a fostered sea horse, the one you didn't know what it was, one OK the last ones you picked up right before you found the limped
Such perfect timing. I'm heading to Fort Lauderdale on Thursday and was looking for some nearby beaches to shell before heading over to the SW coast a few days later. Thank you!
I didn't get to watch this until late Monday night. Fun that you were able to go somewhere different. Someone suggested you may have been thinking of Hereford cows, but I think maybe Guernseys might be closer. They're a softer brown and not quite as solid in color. You found sea glass and I was thinking of sea glass this afternoon! I'm going to do some glass fusing tomorrow evening and decided to "create" using some of the sea glass I've found. Totally an experiment. I'll let you know how it comes out.
@@SWFBeachLife Alas...the beach glass can't be used for fusing. All the glass in a piece needs to have a certain COE (coefficient of expansion), and one wouldn't know the COE of random glass from the beach. Darn. I'd hoped I'd found a way to make something beautiful out of garbage, but I'll just keep working on finding another way.
Love that sundial. On my list to find. Recent trip to the out islands in the Bahamas and found some great treasures on the Atlantic side. Also found a few long spine star shells with the spines intact on the Caribbean side. Love your weekly videos of my favorite hobby!
I'm still hoping to find a good long spine star shell with all its spines. I wish someone in the Bahamas would start a shelling channel so I could learn where to go!
Holstein cattle are black and white. I think you might be thinking of Herfords which are a rich redish brown and white. The shells you found, especially one of the last ones definitely remind me of Herfords. Have a great day!
Loved the beach trip, especially the sundial and leafy jewel boxes. Thanks so much Sharmon! You’re amazing at identifying sea treasures, and just a little challenged at identifying fruit! 😆
Ha!! I know...I kept hearing "strawberries" and seeing blueberries! Funny how we totally don't hear ourselves when we do that sometimes. (Sharmon, truly...we're not laughing "at" you, at all.)
Glad to see you exploring the east coast. I’ve only shelled the gulf coast but will be trying the east next February. I love the gulf shells but, like you, yearn to discover new stuff too. Looks like you have to shell longer and walk further to find things. Thanks for sharing your awesome finds. I always learn so much from you.
Thanks Sharmon, lovely walk on a beach similar to mine here in NE FL I think shelling in the water is almost always frustrating on the East coast, the waves are bigger and faster. I don't really want a North Eastern storm, but that is when the ocean gives up more of it's treasures on the East coast. Have a wonderful week, I look forward to Sanibel next week.
I'd like to put in an order for a storm to just swipe us to give us shells, maybe a tiny bit of street flooding and that's it! Zero damage or evacuating. Hey, a girl can dream right? 🐚
@@SWFBeachLife Man, we had our one beach week of the year last week in northeast FL. It stormed all week and there was literally NOTHING on the beach. The last day, as we were packing up, the sun came out, and shells started appearing - FINALLY - but I had to leave :(
Hi Sharmon! Delightful adventure on the east coast. Kind of like my trip there last year. Everyone was posting all these neat shells and I could not find anything except spectral bittersweets. But I'm not complaining. It was fun and different. Love the coral. You are right, beaches are very different than SWF which I love. Any adventure with you is fun. Thanks for taking us with you! Have a great week.
I'm hoping to get a little better at my East Coast shelling so I can actually find shells next time I go 🤣 I was really happy with that sundial though!
@@SWFBeachLife - yeah I would have been too! I love the rose coral and lions paws on the east coast but still on my bucket list😣! Oh well someday! At least I can watch you find gorgeous shells every week. Have you ever watched Florida Beach Walks on the east coast. She just posted 2 videos from renourishment project at Palm Beach. They piled millions of shells by the dump truck loads and let shellers have a hayday. Oh My Gosh. I have watched over and over squealing!!!!
@@fredamoore1743 Where do you find those videos? I googled Florida Beach Walks and got videos of walking on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, etc...lots of bikinis and skin but no shells. LOL. Thanks!
Hope you can take an overnight stay to Palm Beach or Juno Beach one of these days. I really like your videos. We are hoping to move to FL in another year. Oh, I forgot to say...I’d put those goggles on the wharf or give them to the ranger at the park. You’d think someone would patrol the beach and pick up the garbage. Guess they would have to charge more $ to have someone actually do that. Best for people to pick up their stuff instead of let the beach absorb it. I wonder how many people lose it in the water then can’t find it🤷♀️
I held onto all the goggles and hope to "recycle" them to some kids at the beach in the future. I'll have to check my schedule and see if I can swing an overnighter on the East Coast. That would be so fun!!
On a trip to Port Aransas I picked up quite a few of that rose coral and didn’t know what it was. A hurricane hit a few days before and had really stirred up things
I think many of the little white clams you saw are the dosinia lucines (also called dosinia-like-lucines). The star shell is definitely a long spine one, still a bucket list shell for me. I also think those jewel boxes are the leafy species. There's just so much variability, and most of the shells look at least a little bit different from each other. That shell at 24:15 looks like some sort of anomaly. I would guess jewel box and not an imperial, but it's really strange how the ridges aligned so similarly. I think given the variability it's not impossible to find "one of a kind" shells like that once in a while. Those east coast shells are so tricky when they all get worn down like that!
I think if I found those jewelboxes regularly I wouldn't struggle so much to ID them, but when they're a little worn down it gets pretty tricky. That stacked weird shell was indeed a neat find. And I spent a bit of time with my bivalve book with this video - I couldn't believe there is a dosinia lucine! I really like the cross-hatched versions 😃
My dad lives in central Florida and heads to Vero Beach. Last time I was there I had a decent shelling experience. Maybe worth a trip the next time you’re on the East Cost.
*@**24:14* oooh I mussst have in my special treasure *box* TOO!!! Did anyone identify it . . did not see any name on the video screen. Shells that have *WAVES* in their very exterior make up are the bestest
Hiya me again . . . I was just thinking and wondering if you have ever made a *JINGLE SHELL* hanging mobile of sorts given their sound and translucent exterior is so stunning.
Thanks for trying another beach on the east coast! I know you don't always find tons of shells, but I love the colors of the shells here on the east coast. I had never heard of a pretty jewel box or wavy bittersweet, so thanks for new things to google!! I have heard Brian from Solace in shelling calling those decussate bittersweets, not based on the pattern, but on the umbo, but I noticed they all had what I thought of as a dalmation pattern, and what you saw as a cow pattern --yup, I can see that! I couldn't find the pretty jewel box, but what about the atlantic jewel box for those larger oysters/jewel boxes? I found it on the Bailey-Matthews site? Any way, I love those shells, and the coral, but ESPECIALLY love the sundial!!!! Congratulations on that one!
That sundial was such a great surprise! And the colors of some of those shells are just out of this world. I was happy to find different treasures. I hope the next time I decide to go there will be more treasures to find!
Happy Easter, Sharmon! Well this was a different shelling adventure. All those goodies you brought home were so different. Yet as I remember, you didn't find any gastropods, only bivalves. I must say that when my husband and I go to Florida we will definitely want to shell on the west coast. The gastropods are my favs for the most although I can picture myself collecting plenty of beach bowls and calico clams. Thank you for sharing your adventure with all of us. Question: do you ever get Man O Wars or dangerous jellyfish on the west coast beaches? If so, what time of year do they show up?
I have never seen a manowar on the West Coast. My understanding is on the East Coast during the windy January and February months all sorts of neat creatures, including manowars, will end up on the beaches. I know on the West Coast the summer is typically when you'll see jellyfish. I have seen jellyfish I would not want to be stung by, along with rays and other stinging creatures but thus far, I have yet to be stung by anything 🙏🏼 Well, except for that time I went to Jamaica and I got stung by an urchin. That was ZERO fun!
thank u for coming to the east coast again! Shelling during these months has been ROUGH ! not a lot to see, lots of wind, lots of things washing up (that are not shells). I went by the beach and weirdly there were tons in the afternoon, the patterns with this weather have been weird. sure enough winter will come and bring lots of goodies, sorry the east disappointed a bit this time ; 0 ; but as always i love ur shelling adventures!
Yes, I had to drive almost 5 hours for the goodies, but it was worth it! My goal was to see a different ocean and different treasures so I got what I came for 😃 Hopefully next time there will be more shells!
We have gone in March, summer, and October and we have done well unless there are double red flags! If the wrack lines are weak, we scoop in the surf. We are typically there for 3 days so it gives us multiple opportunities. I do hope you have great luck when you go there!!
I just looked up Chama sp. and they are so neat! I know from experience I'll need to find those shells regularly to introduce them to my "brain library." Hopefully I'll find more next time!
Happy Easter Chick. The sand on the east coast looks like rock salt. Love those leafy jewel boxes, they are big in comparison to the spiney ones. Our beaches are way different too and we have a much smaller distance - the biggest being 24 miles from one end of the island to the other lol. Lovely video as always. Hugs, Drive carefully and stay safe xx
I loved your excitement about the Sundial! I'm a SWF sheller and that's a bucket list shell for me (rarely found on Sanibel where I shell the most). My stepson just got married in Costa Rica March 21st, and I got to go shelling at the resort a few of the days we were there. I found 3 beautiful colored Sundials, I freaked out!! I also found a cowrie shell which was another first for me. I really do appreciate SWF shelling though, nothing compares! I'm heading to the JW Marriot on Marco for work in June (which I will shell past the jetty on South Beach if I can get a low enough tide), and then I'm extending my trip and heading to Sanibel for a few nights. I can't wait to be back in SWF shelling!! My last visit was in December to Tween Waters, found my first whole lions paw, a bright orange/red little baby! Congrats on the beautiful Sundial, and thank you so much for sharing videos, I look forward to them every week!!!
The only lions paw I've found over here was on Captiva! The water up there must be deeper or something to get those other treasures. The lack of parking over there keeps me away but I should give try it again one of these days.
I went to Caspersen quite a while ago to look for teeth. I actually enjoyed looking for them a little better up on the East Coast at Mickler's Landing.
Sharmon, if you haven't please check video by Florida Beach Walks on Phipps Ocean Park in Palm Beach!!!!! They're dredging & dumping shell piles in the parking lot for shellers!!!! Unbelievable!!!!
I@ cking8776. I watched Part 1 and Part 2 which were a day apart. In part 1, she says the dredge pile was from 2021 but it does look like it was posted only 7 days ago. Online the last I can find that shells were dumped at Phipps was 1921 although some were also dumped in 2016. I am a little confused. Are there shell piles there right now? Thanks for any information you can give me.
Sharmon, do you think that the shells on the East Coast are a little bit thicker than they are on the West Coast? Maybe they are because they have to get a little tougher to come in on the waves that they do or maybe I’m just crazy. I sure love your programs!
Maybe the East Coast shells are thicker? The ones I find on both coasts, like olives and turkey wings are typically similar in thickness, but the East Coast shells are normally more beat up 🤣

“The harvest of live-rock, substrate with living organisms attached, is illegal unless harvested at a licensed aquaculture area.”
Only live coral and dead coral that have live sea creatures attached.

That's awful!
From what I found in my Florida Seashells book, I think those shells are Leafy Jewelboxes.
Thanks!!
That sundial is fantastic. Love it.
Agreed! I don't care if I had to drive almost 5 hours to get it 🤣
The colours of the shells were so pretty and bright.
There was a huge piece of plastic, like a sheet of long plastic that I picked up off the beach.
That's what we call them in South Africa.😅
See you next week.
I love when you come to the east coast! 😍 your videos give me so much joy, thank you for taking us along with you on your adventures!💕
Thank you for watching!
My friend went to Ireland and brought me back a little scotch bonnet shell.
Very nice. :)
That's awesome!
Lovely video, all the different shells were gorgeous, nice change from all the same ones that you regularly get on the southwest Florida 💖
Love overnight oats-glad you are in on their greatness. Gotta have that sustenance for those epic beach walks!
Except when I kept calling the blueberries, strawberries 😂
Although there werent many shells love the thorny oysters.. and the east coast still wanted to give you some love in the heart stone!! Thank you for taking us along.. you never know what you can find at any time.. so happy you kept the queen shard!❤
So fun being somewhere different right!
Yes! It was time for me to see a different ocean!
FROSTY SEA GLASS!! Winner, winner chicken dinner! Happy very belated birthday. I love the way you chose to celebrate.
Thank you so much!
It was a bit of a drive, but it's always nice to see a different beach!
Dear Sharmon,
What a lovely morning on the beach!
When it was beach time, I closed my eyes, imagining that I was walking in the beach, smelling that typical beach smell...🩵
The sundial you found is gorgeous! I've never seen one before. Same for all the jewel box type shells.
Those colors!! Wow!
Seaglass collectors call the color of green/ blue piece you found "seafoam."
Send some warmth this way!
Yaas! You finally haven found a sundial! You just mentioned to me that you wished you had that in your collection. 🐚CONGRATULATIONS!!!🐚
Yes! Thank you!
@@SWFBeachLife That is so great--it is like my many eye of shiva shells too
Bye the way @24:14 I mussst have in my special treasure box TOO!

@@SWFBeachLife I thought of you this morning -- I found a bright purple-pink "flat" scallop shell, a little chipped but kept it anyway!
@@JILLCritterologist Those flats are hard to come by - keep all the pieces 😂
You have much more interesting shells and way more variety in your neck of the woods than we have on the east coast of Florida.
It's true. Not all Florida beaches were created equally.
I concur! 😩
Brian from Solace in shelling identified bittersweet's that looked like yours as Decussate bittersweet's
I was thinking of him while I was editing. Mostly wishing I would have his East Coast luck 😅
I’ve had to re-subscribe 4 FOUR TIMES in the past month! It’s so frustrating! But I know to go search for you every Sunday. And subscribe AGAIN. SMH❤
This is so upsetting to hear! I will make sure to mention it again in the future just in case. 🙏🏼
Show me a beach and I'll find something to be interested in! Happy hunting beach friend!
I really enjoyed this week’s video and the perspective of visiting somewhere new. Great, great video. You just keep knocking it out of the park, thank you so much for the fantastic beach/shelling videos.
With people like you supporting me, I feel like I can do anything! Thank YOU!!! 🙏🏼
Thank you for the beach tip! There are several beaches on the East Coast I would like to visit. I'll add Riviera Beach to the list!
Those wavy bittersweet are so cool! The patterns on the shell love like cave art.
Look, not love.
Silly spell check right? I like that so many people see different things! ❤️
And another beautiful day on the beach ! Can't wait for next week on Sanibel !! Thank you !!
Hello. Good Evening 😊😊Happy Sunday 😊😊Happy Easter 🐰🐣
Oh I'm so sorry your daughter got that painful lesson!
Some of those really thick pieces of colorful shells are smoothed on the edges and then wire wrapped for pendants
I belong to our local rock club in southern utah, and we have some very talented crafting silver, copper and brass wire wrappers
I watch your videos and get right into the excitement of finding a new treasure . Thank you sooo much for your fun videos. They make this old lady want to desert snorkel
Can I tell you that if I weren't looking for shells, I think I'd enjoy hunting rocks? I just love the hunt!
It's all about the search!!!
It was great to SS different shells and things. It keeps you on your toes.
Thank You for another beach combing day. Always amazed at what you find !! 🙏
Thanks for the info on dipping my murex, banded tulips, and crowns in acid. They all turned out beautifully. The murex got all their color back!! Love them!! Including some rose murex!
What a wonderful way to end Easter Sunday. Thank you’. ❤
Thank you for watching! Happy Easter!
You have found some really wonderful and unusual shells In this video! It was such fun…even the pieces of shells. And the sundial was stunning! Thanks for sharing!
I've been seeing those jewel boxes for years but I didn't know what they were.
Hi Sharmon! Thanks again for a fun video. I was thinking that you might want to link up with Roxanne from Florida Beach Walks, RUclips channel. She does so much east coast shelling and is very knowledgeable. Maybe she could help with your id’s. Happy Shelling!
Cool... leafy jewel boxes? Love the colors!❤
I just enjoy your videos so much I look forward to them every Sunday. It really does help relieve my stress. As soon as those studios are working again I'm going to become a patron
I appreciate you watching and coming to the beach with me!!! 🙏🏼
Love all the cool shells that you found and especially when they aren't some you normally find! All the best for more great shelling days!😊
Cool shells! Beautiful beach too. Happy Easter! 🐣
Happy Easter to you too!
Thank you!
There are restroom facilities near Pelican Pavilion too!
Thanks for taking us on a new adventure! What fun seeing new shells!!
Love the video! So excited I fly to Fort Meyers Beach tomorrow for 10 days!
Good shell luck to you! The weather has been GORGEOUS!
Yay for a new video! I’m recovering from foot surgery so i haven’t been shelling in a month. Always fun when you visit a new spot!
I hope you recover soon!
Please do let me know how it comes out!
@@jantaylor2034 That makes sense! Who knew you had to be a chemist to figure some of this stuff out 😂
Love that sundial.
We were on Stocking Island. Stayed in a little houseboat. Small island with a marina and a few resorts. Very rustic and low key.
@@rcjcough4636 Sounds heavenly!
Holstein cattle are black and white. I think you might be thinking of Herfords which are a rich redish brown and white. The shells you found, especially one of the last ones definitely remind me of Herfords. Have a great day!
Thanks for the cow ID! I really like critters, including cows 😃
🤣🤣🤣 OMG I never even heard myself say it wrong - LOL!!
Laugh away! I have a great sense of humor! 😃

So glad you posted today ❤ Happy Easter 🐇🐣 I do find bittersweet shells here in panhandle of Fl 😊
Good to know! I want to see those beaches too one day!
The last day, as we were packing up, the sun came out, and shells started appearing - FINALLY - but I had to leave :(
@@AnnaRosalita 😫Come back for more 🐚
@@SWFBeachLife I want to so much! But at least I have your videos to watch 💕

@@fredamoore1743 I saw the video but I haven’t had time to watch it yet 😀
@@SWFBeachLife - girl, watch part 1 & 2. You will love it!!
I find sooo many imperial Venus clams and sun dials in the panhandle !
Where??? What about flats? I want to start planning out all my other Florida beach travels!
I did !!!
My dad lives in central Florida and heads to Vero Beach. Last time I was there I had a decent shelling experience. Maybe worth a trip the next time you’re on the East Cost.
Thanks so much for the tip!
*@**24:14* oooh I mussst have in my special treasure *box* TOO!!!
Did anyone identify it . . did not see any name on the video screen.
Shells that have *WAVES* in their very exterior make up are the bestest
No one was able to ID that special shell - yet. Perhaps someone in the future will know but what a cool shell right?
Hiya me again . . . I was just thinking and wondering if you have ever made a *JINGLE SHELL* hanging mobile of sorts given their sound and translucent exterior is so stunning.
I have not made anything with jingles but they seem like they would work in so many shell projects!
That was ZERO fun!
your strawberries looked like blueberries to me....Love you videos
LOL, they were. ;) Looked good though, she must use strawberries in them sometimes too. :)
LOL! They were blueberries! I swear I do know the difference 🤣
It is a Key hole lumit.

Thank you so much 😀
thank u for coming to the east coast again!

You can find sundials and lots of imperial Venus clams and giant bittersweets at Navarre.
I am going to Navarre. Now I just have to figure out the best time to go! Likely in winter which just passed us 😭
We have gone in March, summer, and October and we have done well unless there are double red flags! If the wrack lines are weak, we scoop in the surf. We are typically there for 3 days so it gives us multiple opportunities. I do hope you have great luck when you go there!!
@@susanbarkley7357 Great advice! Thank you!
Maybe the jewelbox's you found are the Corrugate jewelbox's (small ones) ? Large ones maybe the Chama sp. of some type?

Happy Easter Chick. The sand on the east coast looks like rock salt. Love those leafy jewel boxes, they are big in comparison to the spiney ones. Our beaches are way different too and we have a much smaller distance - the biggest being 24 miles from one end of the island to the other lol. Lovely video as always. Hugs, Drive carefully and stay safe xx
The grains of sand are so much bigger on the East Coast! I wish I could come explore you island. I'd likely freeze to death though 🥶
Happy Easter! Love all the shells you found.
@SWFBeachLife I agree on the lack of parking! The only time I shell on Captiva is when I'm staying at Tween Waters, or I shell at Turner Beach.
Happy Easter! ❤
Happy Easter to you too!
Have you done a video on Caspersen Beach yet? It’s North of you in Venice.
I went to Caspersen quite a while ago to look for teeth. I actually enjoyed looking for them a little better up on the East Coast at Mickler's Landing.

East Coast sheller here….. have you tried the Satellite Beach area in Brevard County yet? That seems to be a really great spot over here.

Sharmon, if you haven't please check video by Florida Beach Walks on Phipps Ocean Park in Palm Beach!!!!! They're dredging & dumping shell piles in the parking lot for shellers!!!! Unbelievable!!!!
I'll check it out!

@@Bev-c8k The area is about 4 hours from me so I will not be able to find out. Sorry!!
