- What drives someone to become a monk?
Jovdoosanjid tells us how he took the step to become one of the monks of Erdene Zuu, Mongolia's most ancient Buddhist monastery.
A spiritual voyage to the heart of Mongolia, in the middle of the steppe, where this ancient and sacred site transcends time…
From the film "Wonders of Men - Mongolia, Erdene Zuu Monastery"
Direction: Véronique Legendre & Serge Turquier
Production: ZED & ARTE France
I’ve never been to Mongolia but this place has a vibe that makes me feel at home. I live near the New Mexico / Colorado border, where a lot of Tibetan refugees settled decades ago. They built several stupas in this area, including one just down the road from me. We even have a similar climate and land form to this, not many trees except in the mountains, lots of wild horses and big skies.
I don’t believe in Buddhism whatsoever but the architecture and the peace of these places is good to see.
Beautiful spiritual life.
It'd be so nice if the full documentary could be viewed, or the whole Wonders of Men series. Can't seem to access it anywhere.
Underrated video
