@@Traintin2 go to random places doesn't give you the right idea about the country I mean from what I've seen you did roam a popular neighbourhoods and streets where the rubbish ,the remains of construction and so on not the regular touristy zone that any tourist should go to ..Tunis itself isn't a touristy place it's the hard-core of the country just for work and the amusement place in Tunis are gammareth for example,Hammamet ,sidi bousaid ect so suburbs of Tunis La marsa, Carthage,Lac ect these the places you should go to if you are in Tunis the capital besides the medina but roaming in a neighbourhood in the middle of nowhere oh no hhh Next time try these places instead and the cities I recommend for any tourist are To enjoy the beaches : Bizerte,Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia,Djerba and Nabeul To enjoy historical sites: Eljam, Carthage,Oudhna,Outik To enjoy mountains ,camping,nature and snow in the winter :Tabarka and aïn Drahem To enjoy the desert : Tozeur ,Tataouine To enjoy the thalassoterapy and the mineral waters health care: zaghouan ,qorbos and also Tabarka To enjoy clubs ,nighty life and amusement parks: Gammarth and Hammamet This is Tunisia as any tourist should see ... yeah our country is under the weather since 2011 and the flood of black filthy sub saharans make it worse before their invasion of our country our streets were not this shitty and trushy this is making us crazy
Probably because of your bad experience , i am asian from Montreal as such I sticked out too , but still had an good experience of Tunis . But speaking french helps too.
These places are not the best that we have here you only went to the wrong sides you should go to sidi bousaid hammamet tabarka there are so many good places here just prepare a good list
This is not "an adventure in Tunisia" this is is just you covering the worst parts of the capital Tunis. There could've been a wonderful experience for you if you went to the right places and stopped being cheap. You yourself complained about the international fees while withdrawing money, then are surprised when small shops don't have electronic payment. Its a third world country that's been going through hell and back for the last 13 years because of internal and external issues, you need to stop the Karen in you when you go to a country in the global south..

you're allowed to go inside the mosque with a camera but everybody leave their shoes outside
Many in Tunisia speak english, especially young , try it out
