So, if you start with one dude married to 4 full sisters, you can reduce the loss of genetic diversity by only pairing the resultant offspring with their half-siblings instead of their full siblings. There's actually formulas that let you calculate how inbred the resultant offspring of any related pairing will be, as it's very important for trying to prevent endangered species from winding up like the Hapsburgs, so if you aren't afraid of some math those could probably help Edit: The one most likely to be of help here is called an "inbreeding coefficient" Edit: I was wrong, half-siblings are about twice as related as first cousins, but still not as related as full siblings, so while the loss of genetic diversity would still be reduced, it wouldn't be to the same degree as I had originally predicted
