I love how he gained tasteful imperfections in his playing. Like guys, I have already mastered the craft, now it's high time to leave the hand sync off here and there, or to add shitload of delay. I love this man
His melodic playing sounds great, his shredding is just... well, shredding to me. I simply don`t like the sound of a billion notes per second being all played by picking.
@@sharkmanyt4431 What? Exactly why am I a poser? Because I don't happen to like ultra fast alternative picking that much? Genuinely don't know if I would have picked up guitar without listening to a LOT of Dream Theater. I love me some Haken and Periphery, maybe even more than DT, but Petrucci outmatches any other guitarist I've heard except maybe Tosin Abasi
I love hearing Petrucci play. I’ve been hooked since the first Dream Theater album…LoL. He never ceases to impress the Hell out of me. That MusicMan guitar he plays is a thing of beauty. I would love to own one myself.
Back when the internet was becoming the obvious place for musicians to interact with fans he used to pop in on his forum and chat a bit. I remember being surprised at how terrible his grammar was. That and he used the girliest of emoticons. Emoticons was for the tech illiterate back then. :D Dude had the online etiquette of a grandma and the grammer of a teenage boy that failed English. 😅
@@CynHicks He's always been a very reserved, calm man. I wouldn't be surprised if he found typing difficult Or he used bad grammar to feel more authentic on the net
I noticed that too. He also uses much thicker picks now, 2.0mm instead of I think 1,3 or 1,4. He used to play a lot cleaner than he does now but he's still better than I'll probably ever be lol
He turned into economy picking in around their Systematic Chaos days. His style morphed into a more legato sound He always was good at economy picking, nowadays, I think he find economy picking more fluid than straight up alternate picking
I saw a 7 year old little Chines girl playing a Dream Theater song on guitar the other day, She played it note for note with her tiny little hands. I was Absolutely Mesmerized! Watch out Petrucci, the Chinese are coming after you too!
Great to see Petrucci & Portnoy together again. 🙏
They have always played together just outside of dream theater
@@russell2890 This is also outside of Dream Theater FWIW (song is Petrucci's Glasgow Kiss, and video upload is prior to Portnoy re-joining).

Coollllll
He is such an INCREDIBLE guitarist. And in interviews, he gives the impression that he's really a pretty good guy, too.
And look who's on the drum 🥲
And there I was thinking Mangini finally got into the role :D

Mister Mikey
I Love Mike.
This is probably Liquid Tension Experiment. The 4 original LTE members got back together to do a 3rd album.
Seeing John smile and nod while he plays is like seeing Santa laugh in old Coke commercials. It's just heartwarming.
Definitely has that Santa vibe lol
That guitar is doing its very best to obey his fingers
And the universe arround
I think it needs a cigarette 😁
He is literally a guitar WIZARD!
Song is Glasgow kiss for anyone wondering
God bless ❤
Thank you
I knew it was Glasgow Kiss before I opened this video
Which solo album is this from? I can't think of the name.
Suspended Animation

My first concert ever: Dream Theater at the 9:30 club in DC. God bless my older brother for taking me out that night.

John Petrucci really defying physics, would be eating a plate of spaghetti without getting any stuck in his beard.
Rock on, John! 👏
That strumming at the end was a HUGE relief on his wrist. 😂

God of Shredd.
Portnoy and petrucci understand each other very well
