Just came across your channel yesterday. Your lessons are great! While of course, music theory is important to understand any instrument, but your approach of teaching the what to do,rather than the why at first is appreciated.
Greetings Master Blue: I am humbled by your guitar teaching and generosity to empower guitarists like me who want to learn more although i am 67 years old. I am going to pass this skill that i am learning from you to the youth in my community - Glencoe Town - South Africa. Thank you and God bless.
This was another great lesson! I play most of these turnarounds all the time by rote, but I never relate them to the notes! Light bulbs just went off! This will really help me improve! Thank you!
Keep 'em coming Blue. Having variations of turnaruns not only makes it more interesting for the listener, but also the player. Now I need to practice hybrid picking, without dropping the pick!
Another new subscriber here, enjoying the lessons, the RUclips algorithm showed me your videos and love what you're sharing. Hope your channel grows, it's brilliant to see knowledge shared to the community and looking forward to progressing my own journey at 50 👍🏻
Great video lesson. I am an intermediate player and have been practicing many of these turnaround licks for an couple of years now, but you have given me some more to play with. I also like to use a turnaround as an intro. Maybe you could do a video on bar chord turnarounds as well. Nice guitar! I've been eyeing the Tribute Les Pauls especially because of their satin necks.
Nice context man! Also, what would be great to see is different chord progressions along with different strumming patterns (rhythm) followed by melodies on different scales. Pretty much a rhythm and lead guitar jam practice ideas video.
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver awesome. Oh and ARPEGIOS! Proper way of doing arpegios would be also super useful. Im 2 years in guitar now, and I still struggle with ARPERGIOs a lot.
In these videos I use a UA Dream 65, basically a fender deluxe reverb. That will be brighter than a blues junior. I find those a bit dark. Maybe try turning the treble up a bit. It depends on so many things
there's 2 parts to a turnaround, beginning & ending, are you descending on the beginning @ ascending on the ending of the turnaround. I'm trying to find a way for a lead guitar turnaround instead of rhythm playing. thank you
There are so many turnarounds that ascend or descend and vice versa. Most important thing is that it highlights the chords at that moment. In a blues that's usually I chord to V chord at that moment.
The best turnaround instruction on RUclips! Thank you, Sir.
Thank you!

PS your suggested exercise at the end is a great suggestion. It too will really help me improve!
Great thanks Gordon!
So I watched this months ago and I thought it was great, however coming back to this... IT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE now!
Awesome! A lot of music theory and technique needs repetition for sure 😀

Awesome, thank you!
Hey Blue, could you please tell me where you got that guitar strap you’re wearing?
Levy's guitar straps... very common at stores here in Canada: levysleathers.com
And great lesson thanks!
Thanks D CHUCK!

Great, thanks for watching. I do plan on doing another turnarounds video, for different keys.
A perfect example of how to use this as an ending is Jimi Hendrix's Driving South - BBC Sessions or on Radio One (a complication album)
great job thanks
Thanks for watching!

Thanks, good suggestion. I'll think about adding something like that.

@@gandalfg1479 Thanks for the suggestion. Arpeggios is a good one. I'll add that to my list of videos to make in the future.
Beautiful stuff
Thank you!
Hey, that last B7 position( 5-4-4-4) is great! Easier than others. Cool shirt! How can I get a Blue Rodeo T in medium?
Thank you! Blue Rodeo shirt I got at one of their concerts. Seen them many times, always a good show
Appreciate the explanations that don't sound like mumbo-jumbo theory.
New here ... what amp are you using and the settings I have blues junior and I can’t get the blues sound right... novice of course

Is there a follow-up lesson for doing T.O.s in other keys? Like A minor or G major?
Not yet but that subject is on my list 😀
Cool beans 😊
👍🎸
Great stuff Blue. I'm in White Rock. We should jam some time.
Cool thanks for watching. Nice to see lots of locals on here

One I made up that ascends and descends at the same time:
(Low string 1st)
0x2xxxx
Xx01xxx
X4x2xxx
X3x3xxx
X2x4xxx
Thanks for watching everyone! You can download the tabs from here: www.bluemorris.com/post/blues-guitar-turnarounds 😀🎸
Or play Ab major instead of A minor to get that C natural note
Try to play short fast lick of Master of Puppets as a turnaround with 220 bpm. You will get weird gazes, applause and some just pass out.
Put a copy of your instruction book on the bookshelf in the background, not too prominent but subliminal.
That's a good idea thanks.💡 I'll try that in some future videos
Just a word the turnaround is called a" syncopation"
