Dead ass that PEQ adjustment fixed my biggest gripe with the 6160 model. The highs always felt too chimey and tinny and I couldn't figure out WTF to do about it. That fixed it. Sounds amazing. Thank you so much
Glad I stumbled onto your channel. Im a huge AFX3 nerd as well. I havent done many videos lately but youve inspired me with your AILD and Unearth tones. Thanks!
Ken thanks for the deep dive! This is really helpful vs some of these where they gloss over the details. We appreciate that you dig in and get into the weeds with us!
You know whats crazy about the AxeFX? I ran this dual out split setup (FOH + Poweramp to cab) 10 years ago with an AxeFX Ultra :D The DSP load was around 40% and back then we only had a small car for transportation - I actually ended up with one AxeFX Ultra doing this setup for BOTH guitars in my band. With reverb I was at 95% DSP load but it worked! I had 4 patches (both distorted, both clean, 1 distorted + 1 clean and reverse) and I did the switching with my pedalboard because we didn't even have the space to bring a notebook to send midi commands. The power of the DSP back then was insane.
Yeah im diggin that direct signal to tha house.. I play through a stealth 3 6L6. I always put a small small low pass, (pultec eq curve) and I cut 4k buzz.
Yea the 4K is a nasty, also 6k. Always surprised how often those are missed. I use the parametric for that on every preset, but have found a little goes a long way. Heavy notching takes off too much.

Also - I run the FM9 into a Mesa 2:90 power amp and then two 2x12 cabs for stereo. I was forced to use a Class D solid state power amp for two months and it was horrible!!! There is no substitute for running a modeler on stage without a tube amp. And a direct to FOH of course.
It’s essentially similar to doing a QC capture or Kemper profile of a specific sound. The key is to start with a similar amp and have good stems to work with.
@guitarfreak2105 after all these years with all the members gone and that lunatic singer they have and all the new metalcore bands that are doing it better, who in their right mind supports that band?
Great tones Man, I'm doing similar stuff with Modelers and Tube Poweramps from time to time, it's super fun nerding around. I'm not sure if you did in your Video but try to turn the Poweramp-Simulation off when going to the Engl Poweramp and Cab so then you have pretty much a Preamp into a Poweramp. This gives you a little extra sonic goodness tone- and feel-wise 😉 At least for me it's super pleasant. PS: try out the Engl Savage Model in the Axe 😉
Sick tone bro. Please make that preset available to buy or something. It’s awesome. I’ve been looking for a live solution for a while. I have a FM9 but I can look for a workaround for the tone matching thing
@@LordofTheRigsTrue but the tone match is doing a lot to help get it spot on vs. copying the amp settings and adding a cab block or IR. I don’t know what percentage of tone is actually amp vs. cab mathematically, but I’d say speaker makes a lot more of the final tone than the amp does.
hey what could I connect to axe to run a real cab? Still real guitar amp or maybe something different? Id like to feel the air is moving around me from the real cab
I’ve had the helix couple times. Can’t get any tones I like. Having the same problem with the fm3. It’s me not the gear. I just can’t get it. I’m just using it with studio monitors
I have a Spawn Head, Mesa 4ch. Roadster Head, Marshall JCM2000 and a Synergy 50watt head with about 4 amp inserts. I have a Kemper Rack mount amplified version. I really would like to get the AXE-FX III but is the company going to upgrade it to something like AxE-Fx 4 soon or will they just keep upgrading it via software? What's your opinion since you have connections at Fractal?
At the 8:21 mark, did he say the Axe Edit doesn't have a REVV? Or is he talking about something else? Because the REVV Generator models are in there. Cool Video and killer tones.
You should ask The most successful touring act in the World: Metallica. They've used Fractal for at least 3 years. Digital is far superior to Analog tube amp(s) in every capacity. Every Capacity. How this conversation: "are fractals good for live use and touring versus real amps" is even a question in 2024 is staggering to me. There are no redeeming qualities for analog amps at this point. Digital is superior. End of story.
Meshuggah and Garbage toured with the old Pod Pro racks well before Metallica started using Fractal stuff. Meshuggah later used the Line6 Vetta amps as well.
I have some holy grail amps but I am planning on making the shift to Axe FX eventually. Ive never used one but yea it seems like a no brainer at this point.
While there is nothing like pushing air with a tube amp. , I honestly will never change back from my kemper. Only regret that I have is that I didn't profile my rig before. I sold everything but being able to automate that thing. Go direct to front of house and in ear Monitors is absolutely A. Game changer, I'll never look back
That 2nd tone is incredible!
All roads lead back to the 5150s iconic tone
Ha ha always😂
Exactly !
Wild that this is still arguably the best and the tech is several years old
Good stuff for sure

Thank you for doing this. Very few people share live presets and applications. I run a similar setup and it works great!
Whats good brother nice to see you uploading again
🎉🎉🎉
Sounds great keep the demos coming!
Dude your LTD is jaw droppingly gorgeous!!!! Wowwww
Love it so much. ❤🎉

Fractal has always been enticing. They were ahead of the market from the first product on.

Good move. Honestly, the tone going to the cab is just as good but different

The sound you are getting through the 6505 power and Engl cab sounds amazing Ken! Tight!
Thanks, it's like any power section of a good amp would work.
Both patches sound great! Tone matching on the axe is something a lot of people overlook.
Totally❤

Love the Sam Black Church shirt. Those guys are sick. See them with Tree. Another sick band live. Great playing and the AXE FX 3 sounds incredible.
Woah mumma! That tone is thicc!! Love it!
❤
Fuck, yeah the live tone from just the cab sounds sick !
Totally, they are both good!
Definitely! No complaints here haha loving this combination
Sounds killer Ken! Miss the weeklys I hope all is well.
Everything has been amazing. Thanks for stopping by
I miss you in Unearth dude. It was a sad day when I heard you left.

Love my FM3 and kinda wish I had gone with the FM9 Turbo for more power but regardless it's the most impressive piece of equipment I've ever used
Were you using this tone with AILD at Hammersonic festival in indonesia? it was amazing, by far the best sounding live band i have ever heard!
100% yes🎉

Hey Ken, any chance you can get that preset up in Axexchange?
It's all here for you to copy except the shadows tone

Gotta wonder how many Sam Black Church shirts are still fitting out there.
What's up, Ken?
Been more than a minute.
any reason for gate block versus the input gate? ive never messed with the block version.
sick as hell brother!
Great vid.
Question, why not just split the same signal chain to power amp with no impulse response?
Saves on dsp i guess.
Great tone!!!
I want the tone match to be in it's original state "album quality". The 2nd I can manipulate to sound great through a cab exclusively.
Ken !!! Good to see you again !!! Cheers !!! 🤩
Yeah Buddy!
Bart knows a good deal about getting good sound to and from the stage like what you're talking about.
In fact I prefer the tone with the amp+cab, nastier in a good way.

Great sounds for sure!
Hi, what's the model of your guitar?
So eq instead of a cab block?
Would you ever put out rig packs with these tones?
Of course
You should share your presets :D

Gotta go with a Fryette power amp for the live rig. Best power amps out there.
I know! Too rare and too heavy❤

Krank Rev1
