I love using my old Fractal AX8 for record direct and jamming through monitors etc. Sound fucking amazing and is so convenient. But when I want to Feel the Feel I always go full tube amp and cab and use the AX8 in the fx loop only for some delay etc 🙏🏻
Actually as a right handed guitarist it makes perfect sense to operate the wah with your left foot. I do too, because the guitar rests against my right leg so if I move my foot on the wah it also moves my guitar.
Have a Marshall Jubilee, also a an JVM 410H and a Friedman BE-100 early version, all great amps. Have a Fractal FM3 and it while not quite as brutal does what is needed for quick setup and quick break down. Just a great tool.
Theres nothing wrong with using both. My live rig lately is a 79 2203 in conjunction with a Quad Cortex. Ive got all my pedals and sounds in the Quad including a copy of my rig to go to FOH. I also occasionally change rhe preamp which is possible in this fashion. You dont lose the "feel" doing things this way. Then you also have two functional rigs in case something breaks, but you also dont need to bring more than the Quad and the amp. If youve got fly gigs, fly with rhe quad and plug into something similar from backline (jcm800, dsl, 5150, 6550, etc) and then even if they dont have a somilar amp, you can go into the power section of whatever is there.
All the modellers including but not limitted to Axe Fx3,FM9,FM3,QC, Kemper,Helix ,GT100.., I have tried but real tubes win! No latency, melting your face with plenty of headrooms~!
How are you controlling two Axe FX III's with one FC-12? With one being a spare for the other, how have you set it up so that you're not using the 'Main' one as a 'MIDI Through '?
Rig sounds really good and would better on the road vs the real deal and even more so if you had the floor version etc... That being said I still prefer real amps because each amp has its own mojo. Sometimes you even have an amp that is technically broken or it runs extra hot or whatever but functions and sounds amazing haha.
Euge, great video! How did Roope have this set in the room? Straight to DAW through monitors? Were you recording the room audio via camera microphone or did you capture the audio via the DAW recording?
I’ve had the AxeFx3 going on my 3rd year I also have plenty of tube heads collected over 47 years I find these things thin, always over effected and live I would get buried, so it was back to jcm800. Jvm410, plexis and my boogie mark iv and vii Real cabs and stomps
made the switch 3 odd years ago for our band to an FM3 (as we switched to IEMs and click tracks back then) it's incredibly effective and consistent week after week, that wide/big 80s clean sound brought back a wave of nostalgia, definitely check one out if you get the chance Euge, killer units
None detectable - specs claim ~1ms. I made the switch a while back and while I expected to be pleased, my expectations have been more than surpassed by the Axe FX III.
Still prefer a real amp but the AXEFX3 with a good stereo power amp through 2 cabs is a pretty amazing thing. I do not like the sound or feel of the modeler through my monitors.
If you use that much delay, I imagine the digital rig like this works well. He went through several amps and they all sounded almost the same with the delay. I hear some chorus in there too with that sound which also can mask the amp. I wonder what it would sound like against a real Marshall sounds like with the effects in the loop. I am a great fan of your channel. I hope no one hates my comments. :-)
I've been a long time digital player, and after recently borrowing an FM3, I was sold on Fractal. All you need to do is pull up and amp/cab and the tone is there, no cryptic dialing in. I haven't used big amps since the early 2000s, I feel like we are already at the point where the finest emulations are on par with their amps, at least post recording, so who knows what the future holds
@@EugeValovirta230V My goodness.. You are my most favourite guitarist on RUclips. I buy gear inspired by your collection. I am getting an amp made with "Euge Mod".. I will show it to you once I get it. :D
The guitarists in Metallica use Fractal gear. Axe-FX III's, I think. The output signal for each guitarist goes out to the audience via the PA and a signal sans cab emulation for each guitarist goes to onstage cabinets for them to listen to for monitoring or getting sustain or feedback. (I saw one of those "rig rundown" type videos on it. Pretty interesting.) If it's good enough for Metallica it might be good enough for Euge, too!
That sounds great! I have a question.....What is the "best" way to get my guitar into the computer? Is it better to use a preamp/effects rack into an interface? Or is it better to use a Fractal?
@@ianmacneil556 i tried the analog preamp engle e530... digital amps don't do a great job processing a distorted pre-amplified sound. just my opinion. if you want a sound closer to analog, by an amp and use two notes torpedo reload and you are good to go. otherwise just connect straight to fractal or a sound card.
@@ianmacneil556 I used to record guitar tracks through a head and cab, miced up into my audio interface. It was inconsistent on the best of days. Now I run guitar > Fractal > USB connection straight to DAW. I can record DI tracks alongside processed tracks, then reamp those DI tracks through the Fractal if I want to tweak the amp tone.
Awesome sounding and more sensible live rig! Hey @rooperiihijarvi may I ask what ESP that is? Looks a bit like a Suhr Standard Legacy recipe on a ESP platform (with 24 frets and ebony fb?).
@@rooperiihijarviawesome guitar and amp collection, congrats! Do you like to share the preset? I think the Fractal community would highly appreciate that. Thank you and all the best!
@@bertimos76 lol nobody said it was SUPER easy to get godly tone...speakers and cabs play 40% of the picture ...most ppl never put effort into trying good speakers but if they did the frequencies it can reach are wonderful. I have good solid state tone as well but for writing and feeling nothing beats handmade tube heads.
For me the AXEFX III Turbo is the best value musical investment I’ve ever made. Its less expensive than most of my amp heads and the AXE can modify all of the amp models digitally to create virtually any sound.
Are they though? How much would it cost to get a tube head, cab, overdrive, wah, volume pedal, pitch shifter, delay, reverb, phaser, chorus, flanger pedals, power supply and cables for the whole thing? I'd be surprised it you didn't end up footing a bill twice the price of a fractal.
it sounds big, but It does not sound like any 80's band!!! its not Ratt, Crue, Jovi, Whitsanke, Poison White Lion, dokken, Van Halen or anybody. Tone is too wet (delay reverb not right) and the dirt is too compressed. I am hearing better tones from other stuff
I doubt the feel was really there. Sounds great, but they'll never be able to duplicate the feel. I had an FX 3 and got rid of it, the Kemper shit all over it. I use the Kemper for jamming to tracks and practicing. Very practical, but it's not replacing my amps. The feel is night and day. They have caught up to the sound though...almost 100%.
Had my Fractal axe fx turbo III since it came out love it.
