    "I love it when a plan comes together" is my families motto! I love George Peppard and I love Mr. T so I am glad they hid any problems they had with each from the fans. I have not always gotten along with co-workers but that did not make me right and them wrong and the same goes for actors-people have issues with each other. They got the job done and they did splendidly! The A -Team was just a great, fun show that I never get tired of watching. I agree Dave, George Peppard reaching out to Mr. T was total class. I really miss George Peppard. We lost him way to soon.

    Both Peppard and Mr. T were superb in the show. Tension between the two didn't surface in any episodes, so they were professional enough to do their job. No Serial Killer.

    George Peppard gave a beautiful speech during Mr T’s dean martin roast - I mean it was absolutely touching. So I think they were more friends than enemies because no one is going to make a speech like that for nothing.

      It was the next season after that roast that Don Rickles's jokes about "I'm not going to say George is jealous, but when you go to bed tonight, listen for a clock" became reality. They were still on great terms at the time of the roast.
      I mentioned that on the roast video about the two of them not getting along and was kinda surprised by the speech George gave myself knowing that. Someone explained it to me that it was a half a season later or something like that when things went sour.

      Right, no matter how bad the roll-over, the bad guys were always shown climbing out of their vehicle. I do recall one episode where HM Murdock was shot and the team had to find him medical help asap. That's the closest they ever got to someone being seriously injured.

I remember a TV roast for Mr. T and George Peppard said some very nice things and they even embraced although it was televised so things could’ve have been different off camera. The A-Team was one of a very few number of series in the '80s that I watched through their entire run, every episode. Knight Rider, Three's Company, and The Greatest American Hero are about the only others I can say that about. I had heard rumors of this friction, and I'm happy to know there was a peaceful ending to it, because those two stars had a great chemistry. As did all four, really.

    It's no secret he didn't care much for Mr Ts success on the show.
    Robert Vaughn who came in the last season of A Team said in an interview that MR T would not stop talking - in the makeup chair etc.

      I always wondered about the "Face" character - what's the back story on him? How does a guy with everything going for him like that get into U.S. Army special operations? These guys know how to hunt wild prey with a pocket knife and dig up grubs for sustenance. I don't see a character like "Face" fitting in with that.

    Shows true professionalism on both their parts that this was hidden from the public for so long. Just like Ed O'Neill and Amanda Bearse with their feud. Unlike the situations with John Ritter and Joyce Dewitt vs. Suzzanne Sommers and Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepard, the behind the scenes drama didn't derail the entire show.

    I was never a fan of the show, though I was a Peppard fan from Banacek. One thing I noticed about Mr. T, whether it was a boxing movie, professional wrestling or The A-Team, he always played the same character, which was himself. That may by fun in small doses, but I can see how it would get old real quick in real life.

    • @JW...-oj5iw
      @JW...-oj5iw 3 года назад +1

      Copy that! I can picture George getting perturbed at having to do too many takes due to T causing errors. Anyone who's been in the production end of filming scenes is aware of the extremely long hours on set, doing numerous takes of a single scene because the director saw something amiss, or felt he or she needed to see the scene from different angles and lighting. It becomes dreadfully tiresome. And this is from someone who has barely been involved tangentially. Think about ego ridden actors all wanting to do scenes the way they think are best. Voilà! Feuds.

    GP was notorious as being difficult and argumentative. There is a video of him here on YT arguing with the host of Password Plus in 1979 over the definition of a word. He also had been hired as Blake Carrington on ABC's Dynasty but was fired after shooting began due to his difficulty. This is well known by many people who have dealt with him.

      I believe that there are historically more stars that are known as being difficult at times than being really easy to get along with. Peppard had been around and known a lot longer than his co-stars so he had a longer track record. I believe Mr T might have had a ego problem as well..

    The formula was always the same: the A-Team would win round one against the bad guys. The bad guys would always fight back and win round 2. The A-Team would then end up locked up around lots of parts and tools. Then they would have just enough time to build some amazing contraption to fight back and win the final round. The icing on the cake was always Hannibal saying "I love it when a plan comes together". That pretty much sums up every A-Team episode ever made.

    Yeah, I was later made aware of the tension between George Peppard and Mr. T. Maybe what irked Peppard about Mr. T was feeling that he received all that mainstream attention without paying his dues, and it looks like Mr. T was a little bit preachy. I'm glad they put their differences aside to create a fun show with (considering the action) a laid-back vibe (I consider The A-Team a great team, with every member equally valuable). And those action figures? Very cool!

    The reboot movie with Liam Neeson just didn't hit the mark. For one thing, the main characters' military background was period-shifted to the Gulf War. The original "A-Team" members were from the Vietnam War era. That just fit better in the 1980's when it was finally recognized what many Vietnam War veterans were dealing with back home. The audience could better empathize with the "A-Team" as they were each probably dealing with stuff from their military service and became outliers in society.

    • @TheLAGopher
      @TheLAGopher 2 года назад

      The movie A-Team pretty much were in the same situation at the start of their movie as the tv guys were in the fifth season. They were pretty much
      independant contractors working for the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan who went on the run when framed by rogue CIA members.
      The A-Team movie just couldn't hit that mark of cartoon -level violence with little consequences that was popular in many live-action and animated
      shows of the 80s.
      The 1980s was a time when the US Military in general and Vietnam veterans in particular, became mainstream heroic figures. In the 70s and early 80s
      the Vietnam vet in pop culture was an unhinged timebomb. In the early 80s that changed to where most action heroes of the period had to have Vietnam combat service in their background to establish their cred as bad-asses.
