Do not enter the Dog Park. Do not think too long about the Dog Park. And absolutely do not look for any period of time at the Hooded Figures. The Dog Park will not harm you.
I do not have any friends irl who listen to nightvale but you better bet I'm going to throw them into a campaign and we're gonna have fun I am so unbelievable excited
Been a fan of this show for over a decade now (sheesh!) The idea of using this as a setting for any nimber of systems is a great concept. CoC, Kids on Bikes, Tales From thé Void all seem like great systems to play in!
Would have loved this when trying to learn the Power Rangers TTRPG with some friends. Figuring out the rules ourselves by just reading the book lead to so much confusion during the couple of sessions we had. Essence20 made zero sense at the time. You explained everything really well!
I was thinking that would be a great way to transition into a game break! For example, "You all now stand before a librarian, you were not quiet enough and they have sensed your presence... and now for the weather *plays a song* we'll start back in 5 minutes guys so get a drink of water or run to the bathroom if you need to... ect"
1:06 I don't know what I imagined the Desert Flower Bowling Alley & Arcade Fun Complex sign to look like, but for some reason I never expected it to look this... intense.
Renegade Games came out with a crossover book for Transformers, GI Joe, and Power Rangers. Would be fun to see an updated book that includes My Little Pony and Welcome to Night Vale. "More than meets the eye?" Welcome to the place where that's REALLY true!
Thanks for the review! It sounds like a fun system (and I love the setting of course). I'm not sure how I feel about using a coin for the d2 - it seems like it'd be awkward to incorporate compared to dice (although I know d2 die shapes are hard to pull off and would probably have been more expensive.) Anyhow, looking forward to it!
Mostly here to see what options this will add to Essence20 overall, so I *would* make a joke about how farthe cross compatibility with Power Rangers, GI Joe, Transformers and My Little Pony might drive your Night Vale campaign off the rails... but from what I know of Night Vale, colour coordinated superheroes fighting kaiju, ninjas on military payroll, transforming alien robots and magical talking horses would probably be some of the least weird things the citizens would have seen that day. 😂
Why would they make this a d20-esque game? A narrative system likeFate, PbtA or Brindlewood would work so much better than a D&D derived game. The mechanics of "roll to see if you failed the task or not" works fine for adventuring in a dungeon, but do nothing for pushing the story forward the way a Night Vale episode goes.
This video also serves as a handy reminder that I've fallen several episodes behind on the podcast in question.
@@dupersuper1938 I'm very behind, and now I'm scared. WHO IS THAT WOMAN AND WHERE IS MY CECIL?!? Lol

But this is an RPG. The first thing players are going to do is explore the Dog Park and talk to the Hooded figures.

Becca Scott is awesome! And an amazing board player

Please also host a game of this because that would be both educational and informative.

Yeah I've had similar experiences trying to figure things out at first, but now I'm a pro at it. :)
And now....the weather

Didn't know i was waiting so much for this game, love some night vale.
Interesting. These breakdowns are very helpful. I think I will wait and see on this one, but it’s a fun concept.
This was really helpful! I wanted to back it, but I'm not one for be a DM 😅
I cannot wait to get mine lol. This'll definitely be fun to present to the board game club at collage
I'm sorry but it's The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home.
Cool podcast and the game looks neat. But I must say the backdrop for this video is super awesome!
Mz. Scott and welcome to night vale in one video how lucky can we get.
I see Becca, I click. 😊
ahhh I'm so happy about this, you have no idea

Sounds like fun but I don't know any other WTNV fans to play with ._.
Oh boy, I have no hope of ever understanding these game rules, I just want all that great art in there. 🥺
I'm so excited for this, but also ahhhhh why is the eye uneven, what does it mean????

Not familiar with the podcast tbh, but this sounds very interesting! Gotta give it a look

I really hope Becca got a run down of what night Vale is before she had to do these lines, absolutely bonkers stuff to sight read off a teleprompter
Well, I suppose that depends on where you live..

Because #Renegade has no ambition nor imagination when it comes to actual game design and just uses #Essence20 for all their licensed RPGs.
