Exactly right. Plus if it were possible to make more than the 500k, they would. The displays are very difficult to make. The other point is Apple has never released a new product line where on day 1 they were breaking even or even close to it. It always takes a ton of R&D investment to do something truly new. But they have an excellent record of making money, so not to worry.

This is a perfect response. I remember Marquez, Brownlee, and all the tech RUclipsrs with massive followings mocking the AirPods, saying that they wouldn’t be caught dead in public wearing those. They thought the iPad was too big and it didn’t do anything. They would just call it a big iPhone. And when the iPhone came out, it didn’t have buttons or copy and paste so it was a failure. Algorithm understands that hate, and controversy is going to push your videos to more people. I love watching this dude Linus tech tips. 50 Canadian stereotype of just being a nice respectful guy, but his channel hit a wall. And he overcame that and got more millions of subscribers by hating every product that comes out. What I find is hate is easy to do. It requires no research and you don’t have to be intelligent. You could just take a look at something and everything about it, and if something is polarizing, it’s a Gold Mine. There are a lot of RUclipsrs that created a video on the Apple Vision Pro was announced and of course the title of the video was the price of the headset. They acted as if they’re not going to get one. you better believe if they want to stay in the spotlight they’re gonna have to buy one and of course they’re secretly going to love it in secret until a celebrity tells them it’s OK to like it in public. Even if they make 500,000 this thing is gonna sell out faster than Taylor Swift tickets. Lol. And the narrative is going to be “the apple sheep will just buy anything and give Apple their money no matter what. And the product is going to become a cult classic. Remember when Steve Jobs and Apple came out with retina display. He told the guy with the camera not to the screen because the people at home will never be able to understand it without seeing it in person. The narrative was more Apple reality distortion noise. And look at Tech today every single display is high DPI. This is why, whenever a product comes out. I already know what I want, and if this product fits it, I buy it and if it doesn’t, I don’t. Ever since I found out Facebook spaces was shut down, and Apple bought spaces and next VR. I immediately started saving money for Apple’s headset. That was around six years ago. So price is definitely not a problem considering that the product that Apple is competing against cost over $7000. I think it’s called Varljo. And even though I cost $7000 it has $1000 a year subscription. I think the new one dropped the subscription though. Full disclosure, I am a technologist, and I own a couple tech companies .
Yea here in Canada where I'm at I'd say it's gonna be around $4800 or so plus $600 tax. Then after a couple months people get bored of them and try to resell on local marketplaces and get nothing but lowballers trying to get it for $1000... I guarantee it. I'm not even worried about upgrading or switching from the Meta Quest 3 until something comes out with complete FOV.
if apple have a meta quest 3, it would be at least 1k.... that's just how apple does it. vision pro only has 30-40% more gpu power than quest 3 but cost 6x more. apple fans will still buy it and think its so good just because it's apple.
While yes I’m very curious about what the Vision Pro would feel like? I can’t deny that the price tag is super off putting. Even if it was e.g 1000 bucks I wouldn’t get it, especially since there are some VR headsets at like 200 now Also, I’m not someone who has used VR much. But I did test one at a store couple months ago. And while I liked the overall thing of how it works? Just 2-3 minutes my eyes felt uncomfortable. So Travis was right. Regardless of how good or how cheap this could be, for some if it bothers their eyes too easily then it’s not a device for them
Agree this is a public test product with all technology Apple could put in it, this will allow the market to figure out how to best utilize it then apple will push it that direction like apple watch & health

The first blow to Apple Vision are reports that after an hour use the head set is very trying. I also agree there will be some gate like bend gate with the IPhone. I am net saying it will bend I mean something will probably happen.
We are certainly in some ways beta testers for this, but to suggest that Apple is looking at this as a test which could possibly be immediately forgotten and a make or break thing... well, I don't see it that way, and I seriously doubt Apple sees it that way. I'm pretty sure Apple realizes this is the way of the future and the only reason they're releasing in limited supply is because it's a first of its kind, it's expensive, and they are going to be looking for ways to improve. No way in hell they think for a second this technology could possibly be forgotten. There are already many other folks looking to copy this very technology, and many other forms of it exist, just not to this level. This is not a make a break situation. More and more people will be using this technology in the future as the technology improves and costs come down.
I have one more thing to say about the price that’s pretty interesting. I don’t know if this is accurate, but what if another reason for the high price is weeding out certain people. For example, the cyber truck is an amazing product and everyone that has purchased one speaks about it favorably however, you have some non-truck people getting a cyber truck. And they don’t understand that you need to put snow tires on a big heavy truck like this, so some of those trucks are getting stuck in the snow. And as we all know, Tesla doesn’t pay the media outlets for advertisement so they’re hopping all over this. So in the tech world you have the same situations. And for a product like this I think Apple has priced it high enough to wear. If a person really wants to get it they will get it and if a person is on the fence or a “flexer”, they won’t get it because there’s no value for them. I know for a fact that if I’m one of the lucky ones that can buy this because of availability, there are certain steps I’m going to take that I believe other people are going to as well. And for a product being so expensive, you’re probably going to speak favorably about it. This is more advertisement for Apple from the man as opposed to paid actors. Just a thought
The only reason ehybapple can not release more is because Sony has to allocate some of the screen for their own XR headset which they developed with Siemens and it also has the the same Sony screens used in the Apple Vision Pro
I agree. Look at some things that were just beta testing like the Google glasses or Microsoft HaloLens. I tried the HaloLens and the experience was trash. Sure it was just a test but when I tried it there was no way it was ready for prime time, the tech back then didn't have enough power to do what Microsoft wanted to do.
Unless if i hit the lotto, there is no way i am getting that Vision Pro. I know this is like the year of AI and sooner or later robot might run the world, but that asking price is way to much for an introductory device. Kind of reminds me of when the AirPods Max came out
Your final thought is, in my opinion, the nexus event. Once people feel comfortable enough to wear something on their face all day and not feel like a dumbass...there will be a shift. $3500 ski goggles with a battery line...is not it tho.

Great perspective. This looks similar to the Google Glass Explorer program. We all witnessed the public backlash over wearing inexpensive featherweight 3D glasses. Apple knows only their diehard fans will beta-test their expensive, heavy HMD, with 2hrs of battery life.
I am an Apple Developer who has been building a new app that is native to the Vision Pro, and will be in the Vision Pro App Store on Day 1. I’ve personally used the Vision Pro 3 times already and will do so again next week. I am here to say that this guy has no idea what he is talking about. He is wrong on so many points. I won’t waste my time trying to correct him, but don’t listen to what he is saying because he is speaking from a position of total ignorance.
You are not looking at the product with the correct mindset. The APPLE VISION PRO is a stand alone computer, with the possibility of multiple screens in headset. I have literally held off buying multiple monitors in favour of this new computing device… The Meta quest is a VR headset that requires a computer to use it. So they are not at all in the same category or league… I am going to preorder one and have been saving since they announced it… 🤔
