“It just goes to show that we’re always looking for something better, but sometimes that old classic is fine, it’s where it’s at.”
Preach it, Julie! 🥃
Julie wants to start a new channel where she just drinks Michter's Rye, Old Forester 1910, and Belle Meade Reserve on repeat.
@@TheBourbonVan I’m in!
1920 is always on my shelf. I try to keep most of the whiskey row in stock. I love Old Forester. You guys are great.
1920 is hard to beat with that flavor profile. It's so good. Congratulations on hitting 10K!
Agreed, and thank you very much!
1920!! Sam’s club 46.00!! I’m really like the Bulliet too:) great review!
I like that the blind picks were all (usually) readily available bottles.
Another fine, funny show. Julie, you truly crack me up!
Shoot, I'm out of whiskey again..... none of us are shocked
Same old story.
OGD 114 is always in my cabinet. A favorite of mine.
Results make sense to me! I compared Rare Breed, Bulleit BS, Yellowstone (pick), and 1920 recently. Bulleit was good, but felt like RB did everything it did slightly better. Ranked results were RB, 1920, Bulleit, Yellowstone.
Mind you, Bulleit BS is now on closeout here in VA for $30. Tempting buy up multiple bottles at that price!
Loved this "price-point" blind comparison and am looking forward to more just like it. OF1920 one of my fav's. Unfortunately for my personal comparison I have not had Yellowstone and Bulliet to judge upon. However, I was secretly rooting for 1920 & OGD to finish 1-2.
I love how both of you knew exactly what glass 4 was, can pick out Brown Forman out of a lineup, and danced around with saying the banana notes. 😎🥃
Julie's favorite distillery. You couldn't hide that profile if you mixed it with milk, lol.
Phil….if Julie wants to party…. Don’t turn that down!! -lol
I’ve had 3 of the 4 and agree with Phil…
1920 (best attainable higher proof bottle)
OGD114 (great budget friendly opt)
Bulliet (decent neat-great
mixer)
Always pass up the Yellowstone for a store pick at similar price point. 🤷♂️
Great review kids. Reaffirmed my love for the OF 1920 (and the Rare Breed). Congrats on 10K. Keep up the great work.
Ive had all but Yellowstone, 1920 for me, then OGD
Thanks very much! I enjoyed this video, and it looked like you both enjoyed yourselves.
Best, Beretta9MMUSA.
Congrats Phil!! Your lineup is my lineup!!! 🎉 ….still like Julie more, she laughs a lot 😂😂
Haven't had the Bulleit BS or the Yellowstone, but love the other two. These kinds of flights are great. Glad you put these four together.
Thanks a lot, Barter!
Love your videos….they calm me down after a crazy. Work day!! -lol!!
Happy to help!
"Candybar" sounds EXACTLY like something I like....but Julie's profiles usually match my preferences....I am going to have to try it out just to find out! Congrats on 10K!
Thank you, cheers!
I love my OGD, wasn't that a hip hop song, yeah you know me I got OGD yeah you know me .🥃
Gotta give respect to the OGD114 at about ½ the price of OF1920.
What a fun blind!
Looking forward to duplicating the test. I have all but the Yellowstone so I will have to sub with another of similar age and proof.
There are a surprisingly high number of bottles that could fit in with this blind. We previously included Old Ezra 7, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Lots of great bottles, but let us know how it goes for you!
Don’t sleep on the Yellowstone. Store picks can be amazing!
good selection of the 4 whiskeys and good review!!!!
Almost grabbed the OGD 114 when I was last across the border but I decided on the Rare Breed Rye as it seemed a little more exotic. The OF 1920 is the clear winner for me, but primarily because I’ve not sampled any of the others.
We think you still made the right choice. Although...candy bar!
I absolutely love Rare Breed Rye. Unfortunately we can get (regular) RB all day here in Virginia, and (like 1920/1910) it is on my go-to list, but cannot find Rare Breed Rye. I buy RBR whenever I can find it out-of-state. Old Forester Rye is definitely a sleeper, easy drinking, not hard-core. Since I can’t find Pikesville anywhere my rye game has been more hit and miss.
Great video guys! Enjoyed it. Seemed like the longer it went the more I enjoyed it cause you seemed to really relax and enjoy it better. I have the 1920 but hadn’t opened it yet. Enjoying the 1910. Thanks again!!
I have only had the OF1920 out of these 4 and it is great bourbon. I like Buillett and their 10Y so I am sure I would like their BP as well. I have their single barrel that I have not opened yet. The OGD 114 always does well on blinds but is not available around here.
I find it hard to put anything Beam in blind flights. You can put it against some HH products or Lux Row, maybe maaaybe some Turkey. But man does that peanut stand out. 🥜 Although that banana too. 🍌
Candy bar. Candy bar. 😆
“It’s alright.” 😂❤
I love how Julie says “it’s not a profile I gravitate towards.” Don’t you love ODG bonded ?!?!?!! 😂 I know I know they are different than each other.
Julie nailed it with the description of OGD114; It’s proud to be what it is. 💯
“I’m going to party it up”
You two were on 🔥 today!
Haha, thanks Terrence. Beam stuff is tricky in flights. We think the Yellowstone stuff tastes a lot like Beam too, plus Old Forester always stands out. It is tough to line up flights with really distinctive profiles, but we're glad we gave it a go. It was still fun!
@@TheBourbonVan The Yellowstone has a Beam-esque flavor profile for sure. They source don’t they? Just not sure where but considering it’s a Beam at the helm… I mean… 😆
Lean a bit on the Julie side on this one. Just finished my first bottle of 114, and maybe my last. Just wasn't my jam. Would rather have OGD bonded. I've had Yellowstone single barrel from a Total Wine in Kentucky that was underwhelming for me as well. Not had a Bulleit Barrel Strength. Not the biggest Bulleit fan but been on the fence about trying it. Local store here just got batch 5...lol...guess we a little behind. Nice to see 1920 still standing tall :) I liked this comparison...well done...Cheers!
OGD is polarizing as a line. We both still prefer the Bonded to the other variations, but it was surprising how much sweetness I found on the 114 this time around. 1920 is still amazing though.
@@TheBourbonVan Being that I have that "I'm down with OGD" shirt, I guess it a good thing I like at least one of them 🙂What a great shirt! 🤩
Anytime I've blinded OGD 114 vs other higher priced high proof bourbons - it just doesn't hold up. For me the lack of finish is what gives it away. For the price it is still good, but if you go up in price a bit, there are many things that are better. Cheers, and happy drinking!
This was fun to watch, especially when Julie was 'out of whiskey again' LOL. Is Mavis now taking baths in the dishwasher?? #cats
Mavis is crazy. She loves the bathtub, she loves the dishwasher, and she loves the sink. She likes to jump up on the sloped part of the bathtub and slide down. So fun.
😂
Great video ya'll 😂🤣😅
Thank you, Lezlie!
Hello, my name is PeachCoke, and I don’t like 1920.
*hello PeachCoke*
I know that not liking this prince of bourbon makes me a pariah of the bourbon community, but so it shall be. But the bottles I’ve had haven’t enticed me enough to return for more. Especially when 1910 is right there.
Anyways,
Congratulations on 10k.
Everyone make sure to like and subscribe. Don’t skip the ads. Send cat treats.
And remember, it takes a lot of balls to golf the way I do.
Kudos on getting the help you need, PeachCoke. Talking about your problems is the first step to solving your problems.
You whiskey tubers and 1920! I don’t really get it and like 1910 much better. I’ve purchased 1920 twice (hoping I’d like it the second time around) and ended up giving both bottles away. To me it’s sharp and thin. I don’t get caramel notes. But you know what they say, different strokes for different folks and drink what you enjoy. 🥃😄
And I loved OGD 114 at a recent tasting.
Im in love with julie !!!
Lol I can’t wait for to try my infinity blend and tell me what you think is in it.
That could be the most insane 5 Sip Friday ever if you wanted.
Just text me if you do it for 5 sip and I’ll tell you.
I think Yellowstone tries to punch above it's weight. You can find better sourced burbons in their price range, to me it should be about half of what they msrp.
This much fun during a tasting should be illegal! Sneaky barrel proofs lol!😅
LOL we'll try to have less fun in future tastings.
Review 7 year knobs creek rye
Peanut ya say? Shades of Jim Beam.
I would go for Baker's 7 and JD barrel proof instead of all of these
I don't get candy bar on the palate with OGD114. For me, it's hot cinnamon bomb and oak.
I agree. I have tried so hard to like OGD 114 because it has such a friendly price tag and the proof point is right in my sweet spot. However, it is just nothing but fiery cinnamon to me. 😢
I really want to like 1920 given how you and several other channels talk about it tasting desserty. I would like a dessert profile, but for some reason I just don't get that. I don't like 1920 at all. I do like OF 100 though.
Wow - don’t know that I’ve heard that from anyone’s. That’s Four Roses for me - everyone says I should like it, but it just hits me all wrong…
No reigning champ - Rare Breed?
I’ve always been curious about the Bulliet BS.
Once we get a few more of these flights done, we'll bring back some of the better competitors.
