July was my best month ever. Got 2 RR15s (one SRP, one for 300), EH Taylor SiB, 1792 sweet wheat, W107, Rio all at SRP and Stagg 24a for 125. Was also gifted Old Rip 10 and Michters 10
Cool story... the rest of us are getting rapped on these. Ive given business to liquor stores in KY for over 10 years. Not one of them has ever "taken care of me". I would love to find just one that does. Of course I dont have a RUclips channel with thousands of followers either.
July was good for me. I got 2) EH taylor Small Batch at msrp. 1) wellers antique 107 just above msrp. Old Forester 1924 just above msrp. 2) Bookers 2024-2 ar msrp. Knob Creek single barrel store pic at $60. Old Forester single barrel store pick $90. Ezra Brooks cask strength store pic. Woodford Double Oaked Store pic. Hard Truth weated. Yep good month.
Huge month. 2 Russel’s 15, 3 Stagg, Thomas Handy, 2 OWA, 2 Weller FP, 2 Weller CYPB, JD12, JDSBBP RYE, Blantons Gold, Little Book and JD bonded Rye. Also got the CJBS pick of Rebel and the Adelphia pick of Rebel, forgot about the RHF and the John J Bowman store pick from Adelphia also picked up the Bloody Butcher and an EHT SB and a couple of Redwood empires grizzly and screaming titans. I’m broke, but happy
3 different Rare Character bottles, Rare Character Exceptional Series, Baby Jane, Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye,Kings County store pick,4 Roses SB 122 proof store pick, Pipe Dreams,Found North store pick 13 years old finished in maple barrels, Weller Antique 107, Uncle Nearest SB store pick,JD SBBP rye, OGD114, 2 Russel SB store picks, Sagamore DO and a BT 375 bottle.
Definitely think it’s a bit of a bold statement to say that “ most of the taxes whiskeys are putting out not good stuff” just because you don’t like the flavor profile doesn’t mean it’s not good. That’s why Texas bourbon gets such a bad rep and people won’t even try it is because it’s so different than traditional bourbon and it doesn’t go with most peoples pallets. We all know the difference between a just flat out bad bourbon and one that doesn’t jive with your palate. I just wish most bourbon reviewers would elaborate and say why they don’t like certain kinds of bourbons instead of just saying “it’s not good”. To some people, like myself, I love Texas bourbon and Garrison Brothers is one of my top two favorite distilleries. It doesn’t bother me that most people aren’t a fan, buts it’s normally because it’s not the flavor of bourbon that they like, not because it’s just strait up “not good stuff”
Ive been going to various liquor stores at least twice a week, every single week for years. The only thing I ever see is Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, or Blantons. Weller FP is always secondary prices here, same with Stagg, EH taylor, and any special blantons. I saw EH taylor small batch once maybe 2 years ago and I was so far back in the line it was all gone before I was anywhere near it.
Everyone in this comments section seems to have scored unicorns. I landed some good bottles but nothing crazy. Springbank 15, Kilkerran Heavily Peated, couple 4 Roses SBBP's I was missing (each 11+ years too), OWA pick, 6 EHT Small batches (but I bought them for other people), KC10 Rye, Indri Cask Strength and 5 or 5 other store picks. The highlight of the month was a bottle of a 37 year old single barrel bourbon. Outside of what I bought I was able to try pretty much everything worth mentioning. At bottle shares I sampled RR15 (great, but not worth $250-300 IMO), Presidents Choice, Last years Lot B, this years M10 Rye, Found North 19, and a dozen others. Lots of great stuff sampled. For the month... the best pour I sampled (excluding the 37 year unobtainium) was Indri Cask Strength followed closely by Russels 15. Indri Cask Strength is a very good bottle and people should not sleep on that one.
@@EverydayDrinker 2 HH grain to glass ryes and 2 wheaters (only kept one of each). Found North Batch 009. Blanton's SFTB. KC Bourbon x Rye. Rare character store pick, 140 proof. ER store pick. Penelope Tokaji Rye. The 1911pick we did with Bourbon school. A subscriber gave me a bottle of J Henry & Sons Patton Road Reserve. My Goodtimes autism pick came in the mail. The only thing I grabbed on vacation was a Lot 40 Dark Oak rye. Oh, and a Russell's pick. I hooked up 2 people with a Michter's 10 Rye. I've been busy!!
I find it hilarious when people praise the palate of someone who picked a Weller Full Proof or any Weller pick... You get like 3 choices. It's not like they take you into the rickhouse and let you find the perfect barrel. You get such a limited selection when doing a Weller Pick that it really doesn't matter who picks. You'll get something great 9/10 times even if you just said "send me whatever you got".
Picked up the EC B524 and B522, Bookers 2023-03 and Little Book 8, Russell's Reserve PBS, Old Forester 1925, Old Emmer Toasted, Blue Run Emerald, Blood & Oath 10, Evan W SB 2015, and the Green River FP. The GR has a great nose but all I got was bourbon and alcohol taste. I wish it had the same fruit taste as the nose. My WT RB was much better.
I got a few good bottle, since I am in VA all bottles were at MSRP. June- EC B524, Bookers 2024-2, Wilderness Trail Wheated Single Barrel, KC SB, Rebel FP SB,1792 FP, 1792 BiB July - Stagg 24A, Green River FP, WT Kentucky Spirit, Jim Beam SB 108, JJB SB, Sagamore Rye Double Oak, 1792 FP Single barrel
Old Charter French Oak, Eagle Rare SP, EH SiB, EH BP, Old Fore BS, Old Fore BS RYE, Old Fore black label store pick, Michters 10 year Rye, Bombergers, Green Rvr FP, WR SP. So blessed and Lucky.
With help at the drops in VA I got a Russell's 15 x2, Old Fitz 10yr x2, EH Taylor small batch, Makers Mark new wood finishing series and 2 Weller 12 liter size bottles and a few others for June and July. Awsome!!!
Holy crap! What a haul! My July haul was pretty basic: Uncle Nearest Single Barrel, Barrel Bourbon batch 36, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit CN-E, Jack Daniels Bonded, New Riff Single Barrel, Heaven Hill BiB, and Old Grand-Dad 114. I had my wife pour a blind of Barrel 35 & 36. The 35 came out on top, but the 36 is still very good.
There are only three things I got in the last two months is a Eagle Rare at MSRP, Baby Jane at MSRP, and a OWA as a gift. And a friend visited and brought up close to 30 samples most being rare to unicorn status.
Great haul! Would love to try Hard Truth, not a chance here in the UK. Bought a lot of scotch from a trip up to Speyside (distillery exclusives) Glen Moray Peated, GlenAllachie Fino Sherry Finish, Ballindaloch ex-bourbon cask, Aberfeldy 25 Bourbon Cask, Scallywag Cask Strength (Highlander Inn) and Linkwood 11 (Fiddichside Inn). Bourbon: Bookers 1E, Ben Holladay (bourbon, wheat and cask strength) - interestingly these are european releases all 700 ml bottles (rather than the 750 ml US bottles), Jeptha Creed 4 grain, Frey Ranch straight bourbon and a 1792 Bib (auction). That'll do until xmas time.
Just got the makers heart release! Super good! Was at a store where they had all the btac as well as bday bourbon from o.f. Tried to wheel and deal for an Elmer but the guy wanted 350 I told him I’ll buy it now for 200 because I have never had a bottle of it and he said no. One day I’ll get one
Picked up the Glenn’s creek café Olay. And tumbling dice cask strength. I also got the woodford double oak.I didn’t get to buy one but I got to try the double double oak wow is it incredible
Nothing special for me in July. Drove through SW Kentucky and was able to pick up some JTS Brown BiB, Ancient Age 90 proof, Larceny C921 and C923, a Michter’s rye at 84.2 proof and a SiB OFo rye whs K 141.3 proof. Store owner had the Trace and OFo birthday behind the counter at prices so high I didn’t even attempt to haggle. As an example, Weller CYPB was $850. You, on the other hand, absolutely nailed it! Nice grab on the Weller 12 yr store picks! Obviously, I need to plan a trip to the Jersey Shore! Oh, I forgot about my Rebel Full Proof Va ABC store pick and if we go back to June a JD 12 yr batch 2.
300 for a purple top!???!!!! Bruh. I have yet to see any age purple top for under 800. If I could find one at 300 I’d jump on it. And for what I found. Also a RR13. Actually got 2. One for a friend though. At msrp
Purple tops are a terrible buy. The pricing on those for a 10 year is sad. The juice is OKAY but not $300+ quality. The MSRP is basically 300-400... which is triple WLW or GTS. Yes, those are nearly impossible to find at MSRP (until you develop relationships), but just think about what you are telling enthusiasts when you price your product at 3x WLW.
GB is a great distillery to visit. Heading back in September to see the gang. Just completed my GB Cowboy collection with a 2013, 2015, and 2017. Plan on sampling all the years soon to see how the juice changed over the years from a small distillery to what they are now. Cheers
@@molemanftw of course! One opinion to another. For what I like the price isn’t worth. $140 for a single barrel cask strength is not in the budget for me.
Jim Beam Black 7 year is absolute horrible... It has one of the worst finishes of any bourbon I tried over the last 40 years... Don try that neat at home. Bad finish pretty much goes away when mixed in any drink - so not a complete waste of money...
July was my best month ever. Got 2 RR15s (one SRP, one for 300), EH Taylor SiB, 1792 sweet wheat, W107, Rio all at SRP and Stagg 24a for 125. Was also gifted Old Rip 10 and Michters 10

Why would I lie about a price? I had a 20% discount coupon at the store for any purchase so 250 down to 200
My birthday month was pretty insane : 2 cypb , eht single , stagg 24a and …. OFC 2005 !!! Yes all msrp

You need to try Garrison brothers whiskey. Easily the best juice coming out of Texas.

I disagree on GB. With their price they are not worth it. I prefer Still Austin or Milliam & Greene. Even balcones I feel is better

No way you’re finding weller full proof at 65 in nj… no way
Nah no way you’re getting half those bottles at those prices without some bullshit. Fuck this channel unsubscirbe
Gov controlled liquor stores have it at 58.99 so add the usual $20 for a store pick and it makes you go hmm 😂
