Thanks to NZ’s isolation there’s only limited visitors that arrive by mostly airplanes. Keep in mind that we visited right after the borders reopened and visitors weren’t at previous levels yet. Also, most of the population of NZ lives in the North Island. It does get very crowded during the school holidays or long weekends, but in Oct you’re in the shoulder season - note early Oct has school holidays!
Really helpful video guys. We’re going in late October also. Really interested to hear how long this trip took as we only have 7-8 days. Any suggestions?
The video covers a timespan of only 5 days. I’ve been before and knew where to go. With 7-8 days I’d focus on either south/north island only. Queenstown-Christchurch (and reverse) is a popular route, you can’t go wrong with that. It’s easy to rent a car without return fees (one-way). Would have loved to stay longer in Te Anau to explore the glowworm caves and explore the night skies of lake Tekapo. You could extend with a day trip to Hamner Springs (thermal pools) or Kaikoura (beautiful ocean vistas and whale spotting).
This video is stunning. Thanks for sharing it. Lived in Queenstown for 3 years and was so blessed to do so.

Also surprised by how few cars seemed to be on the road. Is that right? Does not seem crowded at all

Hi, nice capture of the scenery of New Zealand. Can you share your dates of travel? Early October or late October?
Thanks! We went 2nd half of Oct. The cherry blossoms bloom later in Queenstown. Christchurch may be late Sept.
In which month did you go there??
We went mid-October. That’s springtime in New Zealand.

That's not the most photographed tree in the world. That's in a Canadian lake.
