Probably my favorite generation. You get that “old” or somewhat 90’s vibe without being too dated like the 80 series. Plus, finding an 80 series in a good condition is quite a challenge, whereas these can be purchased or are available in the market in almost always near-mint to mint condition. Definitely one of my dream cars.
Is it as good as the modern 200 or 300? it depends. If youre looking for a 4x4 with a more sporty and car like experience. No. 4x4 performance, stock wise, depending on the model, around 80-90% yes, but on typical 4x4 terrain, 100% yes. Remember, the old FJ40 was and is still is capable. Toyots will not make an incapable 4x4. features wise, it’s old. No apple car play, etc erc but you can mod the interiors and put in a modern radio. Mods some do include putting a modern steering wheel where there are control buttons on the wheel, with working airbags. the good thing with the series 100 is it is an already proven platform. Some units have done 1M kilometers without having been overhauled. Bulletproof reliability they say. some even modify their 100s, put in a Baja or LS engine, dynotune, and you have a beast that churns out more nm than the modern cruisers. LC200 has proven itself in many ways but has not reached the 20 year mark where people can truly say it is reliable, but it is getting there quickly. When properly tuned by engineers, the LC200 can beat the LC300. I’ve seen people sell their LC300s and went back to the 200. LC300 - while it is tremendously a great car, there are still problems that toyota has to sort out - just like the first 1-2 years of every new generation. Many do not like the wobbling bonnet, front steering knocking, single back door etc etc including the recall… all google-able. Cheers Matt LC 105 owner of 14 yrs

My fave one is the last rugged gen, well at least for me, the one before this. That looks like pang harabas talaga. We had that back in the day together with the Y60.
Very solid car. For ride comfort a V8 gas engine variant with a/t and for off roading and tough driving conditions, a diesel manual. I place my bets anytime for an LC 100. Great review.
Great review! When you say it's running on springs from a 200, do you mean the AHC system was modded with bigger coils or it's been converted to springs entirely?
Awesome content, i seldom see these types of land cruisers on the road but eventhough that this is an old model it never looses it's style and being under a Toyota badge you know that this vehicle would last a long time 👍
The 1HD-T diesel (the engine in this video) was offered alongside the 1HD-FTE (the 205 PS version) in some markets. Also as far as I understand not all market got the 1HD-FTE so only the 1HD-T was offered.
Despite having a modern SUV, I am still salivating owning one of this SUV’s simply say I love oldskool SUV’s they are comfy and rugged unlike the new ones with so many electronics.
