Buona esecuzione di uno dei migliori pezzi di Mendelssohn, scritto sull'annuncio della morte dell'amata sorella maggiore. Impressionanti, a mio parere, il secondo movimento, dall'accesa drammaticità, non comune negli scherzi mendelssohniani, e il quarto, a sua volta di una drammaticità che si avvicina a Beethoven, di cui è evidente il modello, il quartetto op.95. Buon ascolto a tutti

This is the Esme original personnel and an immaculately balanced string quartet of exquisitely celestial polish and texture. This was as fine a quartet as could be conceived. By comparison Esme "version 2" sounds so mundanely earthbound. I guess changing the personnel was sadly God's way of saying there is no real lasting perfection in this world.
