at first I listened to this and I just really loved it. Just loved the melodies, the usage of harmony, the tremolos, everything, just simply loved it. And then I learned that this was written for his beloved sister who died that year... Wow... the emotions he went through... the things he went through... expressed through every strong, urgent note, every soft, trembling one... He loved his sister very much.
This was a lament for his recently passed sister, to whom he was very close, and whose passing he shortly followed. I feel these movements this way. 1st Mvt: Disbelief and shock 2nd Mvt: Asking God why 3rd Mvt: Fond Memories 4th Mvt: Despair
Excellent unity. Great pacing and phrasing. Commitment and dedication by the performers make the music live. For me, a thoroughly satisfying experience. Bravo!
