01:06 Animé et très décidé
08:00 Assez vif et bien rythmé
12:21 Andantino, doucement expressif
20:42 Très modéré -- Très mouvementé et avec passion
This is the first piece of chamber music I ever seriously listened to. Beautiful rendition here.
Wow. From the very first beat every gesture is so perfectly aligned and in sync. Beautiful music, but specifically great ensemble playing.
Beautiful treatment of this piece, they really know what they're doing. You can see the music moving through them like waves of energy.
7:10 to the end might be the coolest ending in all of classical music. Pentatonic scale baby!
Merci pour ce beau moment...et Bravo pour votre très belle interprétation.
je suis d'accord, on se régale
allez bonne continuation
Exquisite playing. This is one of my favourite quartets, and you really brought it to life
sweet and sublime.
Spectacular performance, appropriate French playfulness in the second movement. Plus the adorable violist at 10:45 with her pizzicato.
Wonderful performance.
The writing of Debussy's quartet is indeed special. This quartet renders it in a splendid way. Congratulations and thx for posting.
fantastic performance... though I wish the person who edited this focused less on shots of each person and more of the group together. often when the camera is on one person, they don't even have the important part
Beautifully done! I'm moved.
The cellist plays in the Berlin Philharmonic, right
Wonderful!
Beautiful performance, so passionate and present.
I'd like to say something about the videographer. They seem to be taken by surprised every time someone has a major solo.
Do they know the score at all?
6:24 what a moment; what a look
Fabulous ❣️
oooh i like it.... some really nice melding going on.. the synergy is electric
Super!!!!!
There is Young Debussy playing the Cello? Kkk. This performance is amazing!
He looks so much like the young Debussy!
@@josephmagil1149 Except he doesn't have Debussy's wide forehead.
And the guy playing the 1st violin is Edward Norton xD
6:28 ❤
This work shows one aspect of Debussy's diversity
So RUclips breaks in with a commercial just before the end of the first movement.
Extraordinary in every way! So awake, so alive. Debussy's first masterwork.
And this performance is the best group sex I have ever seen. What it must feel like to have performed this organically and wakefully!
what

@@keirabarber8705 😭
aBSOLUTELY, I'd like to see another kind of quartet with them xD
The cellist looks like a young Debussy :)
Bravo
On the viola Marie Chilemme, who's now in the world's nr 1 quartet, the Ebene. On the 2nd violin (here) her brother Guillaume.
1st violin
@@cornetgabriel7806 Edward Norton
hot french baby, got herself a Stradivari xD
had to stop watching them play about five minutes in because of all of the annoying camera angle changes... but otherwise this is one of the better renditions of this piece i’ve heard!
I came to the comments just to see if anyone else was annoyed with the video angles!
slow zooming and all that . it's the camera guy and editor who fancy themselves artists, and doing interesting things. unnecessary.
it's the editing that's really bad. the cello has the important part and the camera's on the violins, then the 2nd violin has the interest and the camera switches to the violist etc. Distracting.
16:30 is so good
Is it Edward Norton playing 1st violin?
fantastici
Wow...
i am looking for such a quartet that treats debussy sound.
my favorite 3greats are beethoven mozart and him
No doubt we live in a musical embarrassment of riches...so many talented musicians in all areas...
Hi !
(sorry for bad eng)

10:28!
10:35!
J ai beaucoup apprécié cette interprétation lyrique et toute en finesse, non exempte d humour!
9.5/10 Very good
but Debussy isn't romantic, it's 100% pure constructivism.
When asked about his compositional method, Debussy is said to have replied "I take all the notes that there are, leave out the ones that don't fit, and write down the remaining ones." That's a subtractive method, not a constructive one.
Impeccable ensemble playing in the performance. I prefer a more ethereal atmosphere in the early movements, but the enthusiastic interpretation is totally right for the last movement.
Thank you, that's interesting and I've learned something new. I would still call this a constructive method, instead of other motivations such as mood or feelings, romantic expression and so on. Today, many people who use a DAW/MIDI software work in a similar way. When you look at the notes of a Debussy composition in a MIDI program, you can see how patterns are rather constructed in a way that reminds me of drawings from constructive painters.
All Your critics don't matter . just listen to the music - that's southern France und it's Storms during Spring - Mistral and so on - Light, Lavender, Smell, Colours - truly a jubilee to life
Wikipedia says: "[..] he was one of the most prominent figures associated with Impressionist music, although Debussy disliked the term when applied to his compositions."
Debussy is also known to have influenced constructivism composers like Bartok a lot. "[..] his use of non-traditional scales and chromaticism influenced many composers who followed". Not even the scales are romantic.
Debussy hated the word 'Impressionism' and said: "It's a swearword. What certain morons call 'impressionistic' that on the contrary is the réalité !" (CHRISTIAN BERGER, "Debussy und die Französische Musik um 1900", page 4)
Amazing! Their bow needs work though... hahah!
bro the cellists neck though...
OMG. I just noticed it.
