Thanks so much for this. I only had one chance to take it out last year but I couldn't get the gps set. This will make things so much easier. The tip about orientating the gps is something I've not seen before. Can't than you enough.
Thanks! I am not sure what finally fixed it. The last thing I did was to go through a manual reset of the radio and it fired up. Was doing that in the house with props removed, put the props on, went outside and it wouldn't start. Brought it back in removed the props, it started. Reinstalled the props and tried to start the motors inside and it worked, took it out and it worked fine. Weird. Only have one battery, am going to try it again this afternoon. Now I have to decide the auction I bought this at sells amazon returned items, I recently got a Walkera QR350 with no radio or battery. Tempted to keep both, but probably ought to sell one to pay for the other. Have you flown the Walkera?
Thanks for the video with very clear and concise instructions; however, I do have one question. Does this process automatically set the home position for RTH as well?
If you would like a longer flight go to 9443 for the longest flight times I manage average of 15 minutes with them but I also order another set of 9443 and received the thrust boosted 9450. I lost 30 seconds flight time but my phantom has never flown more stable or quicker.
Thanks for this video, helped me a lot. I just picked up a Phantom FC40 from an Amazon returns auction. It does not appear to have ever been assembled, all blades still sealed, battery still packaged, etc. I put it together after watching a bunch of videos and then when I was ready to go out side in the snow I brought your video on my phone and went through the procedures. The lights blinked properly and it appeared that all was correct. Then I brought both levers down and nothing happend. I can see a green indicator on the quad, but the motors did not start up. So I tried every combination I could think of and nothing fires up the motors. Have you or anyone have any ideas? I am in an areas without other hobbyists so I have to rely on the net! Thanks
Check the compass connector is attatched firmly (the gray plastic wire with a white connector on the end that plugs into the quad and goes down one of the legs). Make sure all baterries are fully charged. Put the quad on a level surface and switch on control first, then connect the battery and follow the steps in the vid. When you are ready to arm the quad be sure to push both sticks downwards and to the centre as shown in the vid and it should arm within seconds after that. If you've followed these steps and it will not sync with the remote then it looks like you have a fault, the only advice I can offer if it is faulty is to get in touch with the seller ASAP. Good luck and hope it all works out for you, let me know how you get on.
super video...have you got one showing how it reacts when it goes out of range? i turned my controller off..it shot up so so high then landed perfectly....rerally impressive
Oddly the other day I went to a local parking lot after having flown at home. Set up the quad, went through the start up, motors would not start. Took the props off again, motors started right up, put the blades back on and flew all over. Is it just a coincidence do you think or am I not waiting long enough for GPS lock?
That does seem a strange one, if you look at my first flight with the Phantom here: ruclips.net/video/ix4cEHFAL3c/видео.html you will notice that it will arm and fly even if not in GPS mode with a GPS lock so I don't think it's that.
I can't figure it out. Gonna try it again in the next day or so. I guess I can just leave the props off every day until flight time. I still have a Walkera in the box waiting if this thing doesn't get more dependable I'll find a radio and some batteries and try it out. Amazon returns auctions makes it cheap enough to do that!
So is just waiting for 5green blinks is not enough to record GPS position? I do thought that circling and switching it from remote is for GPS calibration, no?
Hey there I'm looking at changing my controls,I seam to be in mode1 on controller and want to change to mode 2 but there don't seam to be any settings for this on the software? Any ideas
Sir I have a question, my phantom doesn't give me the green flashing light for home position. And also do I have to set up the GPS everytime I fly it? Thank u
Hey mate, I'm not trying to be funny but please be careful how close you get to those props, I get scared just knowing how close you get your face to those propellers they can bite something serious !
i just bought my phantom fc40 from my uncle n i didnt know this. Thank u!!!

Hi, have you tried the FPV flight?
Yes it's amazing, will get some FPV videos up soon, also been using the FC40 cam on other quads too :)
What gimbal is that?
