I made this video early in 2023, after researching the topic of Temples and the recent changes made to the temple experience.
If you are an earnest seeker of truth, I hope you find these videos helpful. I would love to hear your own ideas and feedback. Thank you for being here.
Here are some links to free online sources of the Book of Mormon. I use these in my studies because they are free from distracting and misleading chapter headings and footnotes:

Almost 4,000 editing corrections have been made to the Book of Mormon since the first publication in 1830. If you are wise, do not count on the B of M. It is the most CORRECTED book on the face of the earth.

This claim of 4000 changes in the BOM is so silly. 1. It counts every chapter headings, numbers, verse numbers, testimonies, explanations and the introduction, etc. the original BOM had no chapters and it counts those. 2. The original printer that used typeset had a number of errors which was common in those days. It counts the page number on the bottom of the pages. the original BOM is on line with the Church you can view that and compare.
Do you believe in the Bible? Which Bible there have been 7000 know translations of the Bible. There were 24,000 changes between 1611 version and the 1769 version of the KJV Bible alone!

The languages of Egyptian and Hebrew had no punctuation, sentence structure, or paragraphs. The word patterns in the Book of Mormon are fascinating if you can figure out how to reconstruct them. I spent a year doing that, and it was a very enlightening experience.

For me...there was a mind blowing gem to answer much of your questions in a talk by RMN. It's called "The temple our spiritual foundation". In that talk RMN clearly states the origin of what has become the modern endowment. According to RMN...Brigham Young told someone decades after the fact...who then wrote it in his diary...that Brigham told him that Joseph...some years before his death told Brigham...with no corroborating witnesses...that the temple rites weren't quite right and asked that Brigham would take them over and systematize them. There is...according to RMN and his crack team of researchers he has to look up sources...no better origin than that!!! According to them...there was no revelation to speak of...just that for some reason Joseph asked a glorified missionary (apostle) who he had limited contact with to figure out the temple rites...of course instead of one of his counselors. Bolded for emphasis. OUR MODERN TEMPLE RITES ARE BUILT UPON RITES THAT BRIGHAM PUT TOGETHER WITH NO KNOWN REVELATION THAT THEY ARE IN FACT THE WILL OF THE LORD.

I enjoy your videos as you do bring to light many of the questionable items in the church. There's one thing I want to mention concerning the Book of Mormon. When Joseph Smith translated it from the plates, it was the most correct and true book on Earth. However, over the years and reprints, changes have been done, by man. But for the most part, it still is the most correct book. (Even the D&C has had parts changed.) Keep sharing your insights.

If one went through the temple pre-1990 and took the blood oaths, aren't they still obligated by those oaths even if no longer required of new initiants? What releases them from the sacred oaths they freely made?
One of the things that has bothered me is the frequent changes to the temple recommend questions. These questions/requirements limit who can progress toward their own exhaltation in this life. Changing them changes who can and cannot avail themselves of these ordinances. Who is the author of salvation a;nd exhaltation - each individual prophet as they are called or should that be revealed by God and stand until a different revelation is given and accepted by the church?

    • @MormonRescue

These are great questions...and I don't see a logical or eternal answer for them. How can God hold my parents to a whole different set of oaths to get into heaven that the ones I took, which are in turn different from those of my children? How can God be the author of so much confusion?

I think Joseph wanted to draw people to the Lord themselves, an endowment of power. Coming to see the Lord was his aim for the members even in the Kirkland days. Moses had the same desire to bring his people into the presence of the Lord. The members generally in his day would not obey the Lord or Joseph so they were under condemnation. The Lord took his name form the church way back in the Kirkland days. We could not or would not live the laws of the kingdom. So like the days of Moses we only have a lower portion. I think some of the Temple work was from Joseph but most was added by Brigham and the fellow craft members. Look at the Kirkland Temple and compare it to what we have. They are fundamentally different. I think the changes come because what was added by Brigham does not mesh well with the followers now. Much of what Brigham added has been removed like Adam God, Blood Atonement and Priesthood ban. Other thinks like polygamy and temple have been altered over time.
1Ne 20: 14 -16 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; who among them hath declared these things unto them? The Lord hath loved him; yea, and he will fulfil his word which he hath declared by them; and he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall come upon the Chaldeans.
15 Also, saith the Lord; I the Lord, yea, I have spoken; yea, I have called him to declare, I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
16 Come ye near unto me; I have not spoken in secret; from the beginning, from the time that it was declared have I spoken; and the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

I ran into paradox and contradictions including this one regarding changes to the temple endowment and such, 4 years ago. I feel you on being disturbed by the unsettling findings. It almost felt surreal like an out of body experience at times entering another realm….. It’s trippy and not for the faint of heart!
Since finding my own personal autonomy no longer allowing fear to hinder my study I began allowing those natural organic questions that had always bubbles up but that had been faithfully suppressed by my “faith”, I now would allow to arise and with curiosity and much most logical thinking I studied them out. Just as you are doing here.
All that to say, there is so much more out there. So many ways to Mormon. Let me explain, I attended my first, Sunstone Symposium and it was wonderful! Scholars and Autodidact Mormon nerds like myself all talking openly about any topic, nothings off the table. It was like I’d found my people. I had expected that but what I had not, was all the many many types and branches of Mormon that exist and would show up. It was magical, honestly!
Some of my favorite new connections are members of the AUB mormons. Yes, polygamists! Their history, the pure Joseph time Mormonism, the Mormonism I really resonated with as a member, is what they swim in and it’s lovely to witness them. They have not changed the temple ceremony. 🤷‍♀️
I have made so many new close friendships throughout these years of research, friends that I can talk with and ask anything. Friends like, John Hajicek, a Strangite and one of the top collector of Mormon books and artifacts. He’s so knowledgeable. I sit and listen to him preach and melt, it’s so nostalgic and life giving. Another good friend Darren Perry, who is still mainstream but is so beautifully nuanced. He teaches me patience and long suffering and how to offer grace for the past while still holding it up for peoples to recognize and learn a more honest and full history of the early interactions of the indigenous people of Utah and the Mormons.
I could go on and on.
Point is, there are so many amazing knowledgeable and curious folks as yourself outside of mainstream Brighamite LDS branch of Mormonism and they are mature enough to openly dialogue together in peace and without fear.
These two quotes help express the attitude I approached my study. “Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.”

Laman and Lemuel were cautioned about “looking beyond the mark.” Perhaps the question to be asked is “Are you true to the covenants you have made?” rather than “Are you true to the methods used to present the endowment?” The covenants I made in the temple 60 years ago are the same as the covenants in the temple today.
The five covenants in the endowment ceremony have not changed but merely the method by which they have been presented. In fact the current presentation is so much easier to understand than some of the previous methods.
If the living prophet deems it necessary to clarify doctrines and modify practices, then that is his job. If he isn’t allowed to do so, then we don’t need a living prophet.
The specific covenants we make are not a secret. They are published in the General Handbook for anyone to read. Elder Bednar gave a conference address recently where he specified them in detail.
Why do we need to see a “revelation” written down for every declaration or change that is made? The Pharisees went to great lengths to create endless details (or we could call it “intellectualizing”) about keeping the Law of Moses.

    • @MormonRescue

If you went to the temple 60 years ago, did you pantomime the slitting of your throat and the dismebowelment of your guts?
Coming to the realization that those things were the foundation of the endowment, and as you say, "The five covenants in the endowment ceremony have not changed", is perhaps the single greatest testimony to me that the church is not founded on the BoM or Jesus Christ.
      As it says in Ether:
"Ether 8:19 For the Lord worketh not in secret combinations, neither doth he will that man should shed blood, but in all things hath forbidden it, from the beginning of man."
This is damning to the lds temple for two reasons:
1). the Lord worketh not in secret combinations (i.e. secret ceremonies where ppl are required to swear binding oaths)
2). he has always, always forbidden the shedding of blood (which means that the slitting throats and disemboweling clearly do not come from him)
So, I don't know where these bloody temple oaths and covenants came from, but I know they are 100% not from the Jesus of the Book of Mormon, who I worship.

That was a very enlightening video.
I have a question concerning this endowment particularly concerning “Celestial Marriage” and how it seems to contradict the scriptures.
Concerning the resurrection and marriage, Jesus had this to say:
_“But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection.”_ (Luke 20:35-36)
For context see: Matthew 22:23-33, Mark 12:18-27 & Luke 20:27-40
If when the dead raised those who are considered worthy to partake in the kingdom will be like the angels of God and neither marry nor be given in marriage, so what is this “Celestial Marriage” all about?

    • @MormonRescue
      @MormonRescue  11 месяцев назад +9

Rick, I think you raise a great question about celestial marriage. Since I have begun reading the BoM in earnest, I have seen some major problems with the LDS celestial marriage ordinance - especially the wording that we will become rulers and kings over other people, something that goes against every teaching we have from Jesus Christ.
As far as whether or not there will be marriage after this life, I am aware of the scripture in Luke, but there is no such teaching in the BoM.
My personal belief is that every righteous person, regardless of whether they've had a temple ordinance, will be with those they love eternally. This is a free gift from God, and not something that an institution of man can either give or take away. Just my two cents.

You misinterpreted those verses. Celestial or temple marriage, Baptisms, Family sealing, endowment can be performed only in God's temple and church here on earth in this life. After life there's no more marriage, endowment nor baptisms. All those saints who haven't been in the temple marriage or haven't been sealed they will become angels of God. That's what it mean of those verses in the bible.

    • @The_Last_Rick
      @The_Last_Rick 11 месяцев назад +2

@@foottanghyena5620 I think that you had better read that verse in context. If you read what Jesus is saying, he is talking about no one being in a state of marriage at the resurrection.
_Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question. “Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless. The second and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children. Finally, the woman died too. Now then, at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”_
_Jesus replied, _*_“The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels._*_ They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”_
_Some of the teachers of the law responded, “Well said, teacher!” And no one dared to ask him any more questions._ (Luke 20:27-40)
If there was a “Celestial Marriage” at the resurrection, why didn’t Jesus say just that.
      Clearly he did not.

In case it might be of comfort: Much of reality is oral, not literal (written). The reason plain and simple things cannot be written is that they are realized spiritually, not that they are secret. It does not make something true to write it down. Change in the times (in the audience) might require change in the presentation so that the spirit is NOT changed.

I’ve attended the temple, faithfully, as it’s the center of my membership in the church over a life that has spanned
    2 centuries (Ps 24,3,4).
I made the temple my neighbor as I am 10-20 steps from the temple property line! It’s literally my lifestyle!
I’ve been a temple ordinance worker & patron usually achieving for my family tree 🌳 at least 1,000 ordinance / year.
My most productive night was when the Lord opened the way on one of my Thursday night temple shifts to accomplish
    42 ordinances w/in 6 hrs a good ordinance / hr rate.
I can testify to u that all the changes have made the burden on the patron very light - we should all be very thankful to live in this temple era !
Honestly, ur title was deceptive I thought there were changes to the temple endowment , in the last 10 hrs , as I noted re: the age of ur video or I wouldn’t of cared to listen to a rant - zeal w/o knowledge only brings captivity (Mosiah 9.3).
I would encourage u to stay with the Book of Mormon & remember that is tangible evidence that J S was a true & divine prophet of the Lord & that Jesus Christ is still in charge thru all subsequent prophets since then.
I’ve had many powerful revelations given to me in the temple if i were to share most of them w/ u I can tell u ur hate would increase more than ur frustration already is !
A reason Jesus spoke in parables as the only real & true gospel is concealed not revealed !
Every time the Prophet Joseph tried to share a new truth it shattered like glass upon the ears 👂 of his hearers only wanting them to defy (seek the blood 🩸 ) , dc 76.31, of the Lord’s anointed even more !
Both of those champions of faith (dc 135) were murdered (2 Ne 10.2,3) anyway, sadly!
When u prove to the Lord (Abra 3.22-25) He can trust u further then the manner of language will increase (Lk 2.52) commensurate with ur real (Jac 4.13) authentic understanding (dc 1.25,26) to justify (Moses 6.60) it!
Until then, let patience have its perfect work (James 1.4) - the hallmark of any TRUE disciple (Heb 12.1)!
    Jac 6.12,

Russ, thank you for sharing your experience being a temple worker. I can sense your dedication and your belief, which are both admirable.
However, nothing you said in any way answers the questions I pose in this video. And the questions are real, sincere, and essential. Talking around the issues does not solve the issues, and these are very serious issues.
I love the Book of Mormon. My daily study is uplifting and enlightening. The more I read the words of Christ in it, and the prophecies of true prophets, the more the temple endowment and everything it is based on don't appear to be from Christ. There is no way the Jesus of the Book of Mormon would command, as the pinnacle of our religious experience, people to huddle in a secret room wearing strange clothing, making covenants to slit their own throats, tear our their hearts, and pull out their intestines. Those tokens and covenants come from a very different person than you and I have been taught our whole lives.
We can talk all day about how beautiful the chandeliers in the temple are, and how quiet and peaceful it is inside a billion dollar luxurious building. But the substance of the endowment has nothing to do with the God I worship. And it is taught no where in the Book of Mormon, except to warn us against such secret abominations.
Good luck in your studies, and I hope you read the BoM with an open heart and mind, and try to learn of the true Christ it teaches.

Try to understand the aspect as to the endowment (of power) has a lot to do with purification -> dc 50.29!
What your seeing or listening to on the screen is only the atmosphere to help u try to focus (Lk 9.62) so the Lord can distill revelation (dc 121.44-46) to help u grow in ur understanding

Those past 9 recent prophets have been phenomenal how they have helped the presentation which is thought of as the endowment session to help us so much as time has unfolded.
You would of had to live through the many past decades to appreciate that; yet, I can tell u their inspiration has been heaven - sent so very wise & very helpful both to presentation & clothing
It has been a very exciting adventure of the spirit all of these years!

When Moses went upon the mountain and received the higher law that would allow the children of Israel to see Him (God), he came back down and saw them not ready for the higher law. He went back up the mountain and received the lesser law. Hence we have the book of Deuteronomy, meaning “Second Law.?
Did God change his mind? No, he gave them a law they could live as a “schoolmaster” to bring them to Christ. He adapted His plan to what the people were ready for.
Unfortunately, they figured that it was that “lesser law” that would bring them salvation. But is was the higher law taught by Jesus Christ that would eventually bring them salvation. We still have trouble today living as Christ would have us live.

All you have proven is that the LDS church’s doctrine does not not conform to the supposed idea that the Book of Mormon is the fullness of the gospel. I have known this for years. But the question remains. How does the first prophet, the composer of the same book, remain not responsible for the remaining years of his “church” teaching opposing aspects from his original “divinely revealed fullness” ?

It all comes down to two questions. Do you believe in living prophets? And do you believe in personal revelation? Did the people in the Book of Mormon have the Book of Mormon? Did the people in the Bible have the Bible? No. They had to rely on the living prophets, and personal revelation. Does the Book of Mormon not talk about temples? Of course it does. And let's not forget that there are 2/3 of that book that are currently sealed. Should that not tell us something about trusting the Lord in bringing things to light in His time? These changes have purpose. For example, in the fall of 2019 the change was made that couples did not have to wait one year to be sealed, after being married civilly. Less than 6 months later all temples in the world were shut down, because of COVID, denying hundreds, if not thousands of worthy couples of their scheduled sealings. Should they have to wait once temples re-open? Is that not "seeing around corners"? I guarantee that all of these things you talk about are written down. I pray that we will all have the faith to trust the living prophets, and more importantly the Lord, and His timing.

    • @MormonRescue

"I guarantee that all of these things you talk about are written down."
Where? Where are they written? Who wrote them? And why aren't they published in the D&C if they are essential to our salvation?
Have you ever read Animal Farm? In it, the pigs would write rules up on the barn wall in chalk. And mysteriously the writings would sometimes change during the night. The sheep didn't notice - and whenever anyone else did notice they were drowned out by the bahhing of the sheep.
In our church, the leaders never publish things in permanent form, so that they can change and alter them - such as the temple endowment. On top of that, they instruct us to never talk about the changes so over time, everyone forgets. That is not the process of a true and unchanging God or his true church.

Having doubts, questions, concerns, needing to clarify a few points is healthy. It means you are seeking your personal revelation. I would suggest we all need to follow the prophets voice when he says "Hear Him". If we go to Him with our doubts and questions, He will reveal them to us when we are ready.
From personal experience I can tell you after a few decades of being a member, I still have doubts and questions, but I have always looked to Him for answers. The essence of the ordinances remains the same, the promises and covenants we make remain the same. The way they are being delivered does change from time to time but that too is healthy as well.

You say "The essence of the ordinances remains the same". That is true - even though in the endowment when we make the sign of the knife with our hand, we don't now actually draw it across our neck and covenant to have our blood be shed like we did pre-1990.
But the very fact that we still make the signs of all the weapons of our own deaths in the endowment ceremony - doesn't that disturb you just a little?
And most importantly, do you truly believe that Jesus Christ is the author of an endowment that requires us to make the signs of our own violent deaths in order to receive salvation?
If such a being that wants you to die violently is your god, we worship very different beings.

I don't think the argument about "change" is a very useful one. While we may understand the scriptures that say God is unchanging to mean, the ideas we have are set in stone, I think that is a very slippery slope. Even if God's ways or specifically his doctrines are unchanging, I think it's quite presumptuous that our interpretations are not subject to maturation and change. Although God may know all things, it's inaccurate to suppose that he, through revelation, has fostered his omniscience onto us. In my study, I think the primary way in which God does not change, is his commitment to his children. God's loyalty, love and covenant commitment to his children is unchanging, while the methods and interpretations may vary through the ages.

I think you know the answers to all those questions you posed.
If you are a student of the Book of Mormon, then you know the ordinances necessary for salvation. Jesus taught them in 3 Nephi 11, and Joseph Smith listed them in the original Articles of Faith:
We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
We believe that these ordinances are 1st, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; 2d, Repentance; 3d, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; 4th, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    Period.
The temple endowment we are familiar with is not mentioned, as you said, and it is not an ordinance necessary for salvation. The last time I went through a temple session was pre-1990, and there was still much a person could learn, by way of symbolism about coming into the Presence of the Lord, which is possible even in this life, and this is taught in the scriptures, and can be revealed to you individually. Yea, by the Law of Obedience we do accept and learn the Gospel. Wherefore, it is called the Law of Obedience and the Gospel. And it is by this law that men begin to set aside the natural man and take up that which is spiritual. It is also by this law that men begin to understand that the natural law is part of the celestial world, but that man’s knowledge of it is woefully insufficient. Wherefore, he does begin by performances to exercise a little of the spiritual into the material, and in so doing he discovers God in everything.
    55) And we are not beasts unto the Lord. For, though He loves and saves all the creations of His hands, we are the sons and daughters of God, even His Father and Mother which are in Heaven. Behold, He does surely desire that we emerge out of this corruptible and arise into an incorruptible. Yea, just as a potter does not wish that his apprentice should make wares that crumble in the kiln, so also does the Lord desire that we shall aspire to His stature and become as He is. Wherefore, He does give commandments the obedience to which shall cause us to arise even unto His stature.
And it is obedience to the observance of these things whereby we become like unto our Lord. And behold, it is called the Law of Sacrifice because of the great sacrifice that He made for all of us. By it we are made more perfect, being able to set aside our needs and wants in order that we may more clearly see the wants and the needs of others. Behold, if we can become as He is, and sacrifice for the sake of all living, then have we learned to live this law more perfectly.
    64) Yea, the Lord did make a sacrifice and did give us this law that we might become like Him in all things. For, women do make this sacrifice for the sake of all living, and in it and through it we have our being. Even He, the greatest of all, did make an emblem of the type and kind of His sacrifice, for it was like unto that rendered for us by all mothers. And so we see that the sacrifice of women is the emblem of our physical sacrifice. Even so is the sacrifice of the Lord an emblem of our spiritual sacrifice.
    65) And behold, the Lord did tread the wine and cleanse the press after Him. Yea, He did make the sacrifice that shall purify us every whit. But we must avail ourselves of His great sacrifice. Yea, we must commit ourselves to become like Him. Behold, if we are the wine of His sacrifice, then let us be pure wine of His own making. Let us do all that we can to do what we see Him do. And does our body suffer ought from the purification after the manner of the Children of Ammon?
    72) And it is obedience unto these things that does begin to change the man and the women into something which is unified. Yea, by the Law of Chastity we do also accept and learn the Gospel. And it is by this law that men do bind themselves unto women and women do bind themselves unto men. And this is a thing that must be, if they are to become truly as the Creator. For, without the binding of the Mother and the Father, there is not anything created that is created. And again, by this law men and women begin to understand that the natural law is part of the celestial world, but that man’s knowledge of it is entirely insufficient. Wherefore, he does begin by performances to exercise a little of the spiritual into the material, and in so doing he discovers God in everything.
    73) The same is the family of God. The Eternal Father gives that endowment of power which does provide place. The Eternal Mother gives the endowment of power which brings life unto all the place. Together they create, and without the two endowments of power there is no creation.
    76) Wherefore, when a man and a woman make a covenant bond one with another, when their corruptible becomes incorruptible, yea, when heaven and earth pass away, yet shall that bond wherewith they did bind themselves pass not away. For behold, by that endowment of power given us of the Holy Ghost, yea, even that which seals all things unto the Lord which are His indeed, verily we are sealed up also unto Him and become His. Wherefore, that bond by which the man and the woman do bind themselves, and that covenant, are also sealed by this Holy Spirit of Promise and their contract becomes durable, being that it does belong to one who is eternal.
    96) On the contrary. Behold, the Lord does provide all people in all times the means whereby they might seek His face personally. And He does give four great tasks and commandments unto the children of men. And, if they do avail themselves of these commandments, observing to keep them and to strive to perfect them, then are they taken speedily upon the Way. And behold, you may believe it, when you shall walk upon the Way with the wind beneath your feet, you shall see even the very face of God. Yea, you shall have come even unto Him as He has always beckoned His children to do, and you shall receive of Him all things that shall be necessary for you. Yea, when the Lord is your guide, and when the Lord is your mentor and teacher, do you believe that you shall lack any thing? Do you believe that any other person might be the bringer of greater light and greater truth than that which the Lord and the Holy Ghost together might bring you? Nay, but believe it not. For, mere man has not all things before him, as the Lord surely does have. Wherefore, we must come unto Christ in order that we might be presented at the veil, in order that we might converse again with the Father face to face.
    97) This is the plan, even the great purpose of the Lord our God, and shall any man, no matter his priesthood, bring us closer to the Father than Him? Shall any man have greater doctrine or teachings? Shall any ordinance do more to demonstrate that we do draw ourselves nigh unto Him than that we stand in His mighty presence? Behold, where can such nonsense be believed?

@@mustanggun I really wasn’t trying to talk down to it… I thought it was a fair question. I understand why the BoM says we don’t have it (we are not ready for it) and what is supposed to be in it (vision of the brother of Jarod, which is what I like to call the ‘vision of everything’ that it seems many prophets of old end up having at some point).
I was just wondering how you justify that while dogging on the temple ceremonies at the same time. The reason is basically the same, though maybe to a lesser extreme. Until somebody is ‘ready’ it might not be best for that information to be at everyone’s fingertips at a moment’s notice.
My question wasn’t why we don’t have them, it was “what do you make of it?”. How do you justify one but not the other? I was hoping that you had a well thought out answer that would make sense.

Jamo, I love the question you raised: "why are the sealed plates kept sealed?"
In my opinion, to understand the difference between secret ordinances and covenants, and keeping a revelation sealed, have to do with the difference between "gospel" and "prophecy".
Christ's gospel contains everything we need to be saved: faith in him, repentance, baptism, holy ghost, and enduring to the end. Those things Jesus has taught openly and publicly and personally on at least 2 continents. There is nothing secret about them - they are free to all men. On the other hand, the temple endowment pretends to be gospel, but is exclusive and secret for the LDS church alone. This does not fit Christ's pattern.
Prophecies and revelations are different from gospel because they are not essential for salvation - they instead give us an understanding of the history and future of the world. Those things - history and future - are cool to know, but are not needed for salvation. Some day the Lord will bring forth the revelation of the Brother of Jared that will show us the history and future of the world, but not until we are willing to live his true and simple gospel which is the only thing necessary for salvation.

    • @Jamo12
      @Jamo12 11 месяцев назад

@@MormonRescue thank you for your well thought out response.
The next question that comes to mind would be related to the idea of salvation vs. exaltation.
Are the tenets of exaltation part of gospel or part of prophecy? Could they be some third thing that fits in the middle of prophecy and gospel? I’m not pretending that I have the answers to these questions, but it does appear that God has a history of having important information on a ‘need to know’ basis. Moses and the higher priesthood comes to mind.
At the end of the day, I don’t think these things matter all too much. Eventually, everyone will have had a chance to get all of these ordinances done, either directly or by proxy, by the end of the millennium, and will make their choice to accept them or not. In the end before the final judgement, nothing will be secret as Christ will make all things known.

@@Jamo12 The idea of being "exalted" is an interesting topic. As a member, it has been drilled into me my whole life. But as i study the BoM, I see that the goal of being exalted is a false goal, one based in "iniquity" (being unequal or raised up above others).
The word "exalt" is used 9 times in the BoM. Here are two essential verses that illustrate it:
2 Nephi 12:11 And it shall come to pass that the lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.
      And speaking of Lucifer:
      2 Nephi 24:13-15
13 For thou hast said in thy heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Nowhere in the BoM does it speak of us being exalted. Only God. Just like Jesus teaches in his prayer, "For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever." No where are we taught to take glory to ourselves, except by Satan, and I believe this idea of exalting ourselves is going to come to a rude and abrupt end soon.

    • @Jamo12
      @Jamo12 11 месяцев назад

@@MormonRescue I would say, by itself, trying to exalt yourself is a bad/immoral goal. However God’s goal is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. Our goal should always be aligning with God’s will. Doing this seems to bring about the inevitability of exaltation. So I would call exaltation more a happy side effect, than it should be a goal to achieve.
We all as members need to realize and remember that we cannot do anything to save or exalt ourselves and thinking we can is a dangerous road.

The endowment did not change. The presentation changed. The endowment is not secret; it is sacred. Cast ye not your pearls before swine.

We don't have to agree on this channel, but I do expect people to tell the truth. When you say, "The endowment did not change," you are clearly either uninformed, or lying. Every part of the endowment has changed over the past 110 years. Do some research on what all three hand tokens originally meant, what the original law of chastity was, the original oath that women had to take, the original role of Adam in the creation, etc.
Again, you can have whatever opinion you want, but coming into the comments and just outright lying is not welcome.

Just work hard to obtain purity, and you will know what an endowment is. You are wasting your time.

It would appear that by the way you have presented this that you would feel the need to eliminate Faith altogether, that everything should be written and intellectually evaluated. Be very careful with your public slandering of prophets of God.

I recommend a youtube video by theologian Margaret Barker, who has researched ancient temple worship, and temple worship by early Christians. ruclips.net/video/aGUsjJe6Fz4/видео.html
