Every time I tell Americans about how much different and better 7-11 is in Japan (having been to Tokyo in 2019), they can't believe what they're hearing. The onigiri and the sandwiches (the egg salad and the chicken sandwiches in particular) were amazing and the Morinaga Jumbo Monaka ice cream sandwish was heavenly. Next time I go back (and I WILL return there, dang it!) 7-11 will be the first place I go to after I get settled into wherever I'm staying.
Shinichi, you can also place a stroopwafel on a cup with a hot drink to make the waffle warm and soften the syrup. Makes it even more delicious. Thanks for the video!
The way you react to mitarashi dango makes me want to learn how to make it myself! It isn't sold here as I live in a place that's very culturally limited due to how secluded it is, so making it myself sounds super fun and fulfilling

I love taking cucumbers and putting them in seasoned Rice wine vinegar and leaving them in the fridge for the longest time. I just simply love that punchy sour flavor they get the longer the cucumbers float in the vinegar.
I hear Shinchi "ummming" and "uhming" while savoring the food and I want to pack a small bag and rush to Japan. When I do make it to Japan, I know I'll be feasting on food from all 3 combis, on real authentic ramen, on sushi (not with raw fish though), different types of mochi, and lots and lots of green tea.
I have become a fan of you both. I hope Satoshi is feeling better soon. All the yummy foods you get at your convenience store makes me so jealous. Truly wish we had that where I am from in Canada. They recently closed our 7-11. 😞

I enjoy Dutch waffles with my coffee. Usually I'll place a waffle over the hot coffee mug and let it sit for a few minutes so it softens before biting in. Than chase with coffee.

whole wheat seems to get more popular recently. Few years back you could hardly find anything whole wheat. Waaaa they have stroofwafels now at 7-11??? Yes in stroofwafel the batter does contain some cinnamon, depending on the brand here some taste more cinnamonny. I'm trying to remember what I always got at the konbini, mostly the pre package side dishes, and the sweets. From this I would choose the soba and mitarashi dango. My favourite onigiri is kombu. I also buy the yomogi mochi and sometimes the parfaits.
Almost dropped my chopsticks when you said you haven't had katsudon in a couple of years. If I lived in Tokyo, that would be a weekly meal but not from a combini. Too many great little places to get it fresh from the kitchen.

I did enjoy the video. My favourites were the Tuna Mayo Onigiri for t Lunch and the Spam Musubi/Onigiri warmed up on a cold day for lunch.
