- Kit Dale shows shows one concept that can change your whole game when applied to BJJ.
Learning jiu jitsu is a skill and an art. You have to approach it the most effective way and unfortunately all schools don't do that. some of you may be exposed to random techniques from your instructor, a lot of warmup and little to no positional sparring. You may also feel that your conceptual understanding of jiu jitsu could use some structure. In that case you may be interested in my master project.

✍🏻TESTIMONIALS
“It's honestly by far the greatest content I've seen on BJJ and I've bought, watched, and read over 50 hours of content in just this year alone.” Antoine B.
“Kit Dale’s conceptual approach really works for me. As someone who only started training late in their early 30s it feels like a much more efficient way to learn. Which is important considering I have to scrape together hours to train each week between work and family commitments.” Cam G.
"I watched volume 1 of The Art of Jiu Jitsu. Then I went to class and instantaneously performed effortless sweeps and maintained my base in every roll. I am shocked at how 3 principles stated out loud improved my game." Sean R.
"The approach to Jiu Jitsu outlined in your videos are pure gold. Kit Dale is the Tim Ferris of Jiu Jitsu! Thank you for putting this out. I have a new plan for learning and to teach my wife & kids." Mike K.

Bjj is a transitional attack and defense discipline based upon physical condition and time/space knowledge. The moves are easy but how, when and where apply then is the personal secret to be revealed. Excelent advice. Good teacher!
Legendary exit!
it is the kit
I keep coming back to this. I recently started writing down what works for my body type and im shooting for three transitions (only at one or two in most positions). Great concept. Keep posting videos bud, they help and are very appreciated.
Excellent advice, Mr. Dale.
I just started Brazilian Jiujitsu last week. I go to classes, learn techniques but the best way to actually apply what you've learned is thru rolling with someone. Trial and error is the best way to learn, no matter what the subject is.
Thank you so much for the video! I am enjoying the deep dive into these ideas you are presenting across your platforms
I agree. Train smart. techniques that don't work for your body are a waste of time. You have to either modify them or find another route.
good tip. thank you
Hey Kit thanks for advice. i will definitely use it to build and develop my game. I talked a lot of smack about you and your breakdown of eddie bravo's lockdown. I was ignorant. I would like to apologize for that. Tho its funny but after that breakdown video i decided to watch more of your videos to make sure i find more proof for my smack talking. And i found completely opposite to my opinion. I watched a lot of videos of yours and read stuff you shared about bjj and my perception about you as an instructor and a bjj black belt changed 180 degrees. respect and keep posting.
too bad you got caught on metamoris but im sure youll be back better and stronger !
I like the perspective you presented. It seems like you are saying there is so much more to jiu jitsu than just the *techniques*. I would present that there are an infinite number of techniques from an infinite number of positions so the training should be approached holistically, not just focusing on the sweeps, submissions, etc, but also on all the nuances in between that determine success or failure.
This makes a lot of sense to me - Blue Belt in Jiu Jitsu but been in martial arts since the late 80’s - I think 🤔 you explained very well what I’ve been doing & helped me to understand it at a deeper level...
Excellent concept. I remember watching this years ago now rewatching & learning new things.
Really helpful! Love it. I've already started my first branch. If I'm on bottom I get spider guard, sweep to full mount and that opens up either an ezekiel choke or cross choke.
Three answers for every situation. Great idea!
This video confirms a lot of what I have been thinking about over the last couple weeks as a "floundering" white belt ;)
this advice will work across the board in all your training. Great advice!
So good, thanks for sharing
Great ideas. I'm learning bjj in Japan. Language barriers are getting smaller and I'm getting better every week but I'm still in that scattered part. Will try and apply some of this concepts tonight
Cheers Kit! Love your work.
Hi man, yes and tks, big rgds from Serbia 👍👍👍
i like the way you teach brotha, your Art of Jiu Jitsu DVD was huge for my game
Awesome advice. Thanks Kit.
completely agree! thank you!
Yes, we can make links between dots, but we can also expand the size of the dots with further concepts of movements more and more general.
Good vid, this idea has been on my mind a lot lately when It comes to my jujitsu approach. thanks for the articulation
Great video and I agree which means that I have to change up some things.
Awesome advice! I needed this... thank you!
As a White belt I enjoy having the random techniques given every lesson. This allows for me to learn and understand where I am at and my opponent. Building Kit's "web" is very much the process of a blue+ belt.
Iam Gargamel not really
✋
Great concept I think even when I had an instructor back in 2004-2005. I used this concept for all my growth however it wasn't a fast track through the belts as I've been a blue since the summer of 2005. Lol however I think that more of an issue of consistency and not being part of a local bjj club then the concept of trial and error :)
Awesome video!! Thank you.
Great Advice, thanks Kit
If i had not just figured this out it would have been sooooo helpful
Great suggestion
Savage stuff kit love it! Keep it coming you fucking legend !
lol awesome video Kit, made me laugh, and more importantly... made me think :D thanks bro! OSS!!
i thought this was going to be a joke vid but it was actually very good, thank you for this insight
Nice Vid Kit, keep it up.
thank you very much for the explination man, i dont practice jujitsu... i play guitar, but your whole concept about "the family tree" is amazing
Mind. Blown.
I love your ideas dude! Awesome! :-D
Bravo sir
Excellent video. SBGi has been propagating the same idea.
This advise works for learning generally. If you are dictated answers to problems without first trying to solve the problem, you do not grasp an essential element, which is why the other solutions did not work.
Really interesting, a different perspective
GREAT video!!! GREAT advice! GREAT BEARD!!!
AAAAaaa
Z
your exit tho..... LOL
Cupboard handles = easel. I love BJJ people! great vid, you have a new sub!
Awesome topic for the vid keep em coming. You just might be the first jiu jitsu psyc guy, I'm sure there's heaps but we don't wanna see them. Keep it up
Great vid. However, most bjj instructors I've had were good enough to teach the moves in connection / sequences right away. But it's a good concept to keep in your mind. Cheers, Daniel / Carlson Gracie Amsterdam
Ty
Good stuff mate
I now understand Algebra.... OSS
Best exit ever.
This is the best Non- Ryan Hall video I have seen in a long time. Not saying ti's worse than Ryan's though
Amusing.
Please keep these coming. That was powerful. Actually, nah, I'm going to stick with random techniques.
fantastic explanation of the big picture concept. It may sound obvious, but Isn't this the way all gyms should be teaching their students?
Great vid, I am 3 months into learning BJJ and our instructor lacks the ability to deliver simple step by step instructions for his new white belts. Thank you and keep up the vids please
Finally, a logical explanation to what otherwise, is a giant jigsaw puzzle of techniques, with no understanding of linkages. How does kitdaletraining.com tie all of this together?
Great way to look at it, couldn't agree more... presentation though, could do with some work.
Maybe an Australian family tree going back on itself and linking branches lol
I liked the exit.
4 years? damn that's awesome.
+Danniel Giraldo it all depends on who its from m8. Some give em out like candy
+BrillionRadio he obviously earnt his and is a legit black belt
+BrillionRadio Lucas Liete???
Didn't Kit get his black belt from Yuri Simoes..? He's legit af. If he's legit and he awarded Kit his belt then Kit's legit. Great video! learned heaps mate
Excellent concept. Would it work well if the instructor taught in progressions like that as well?
ok. again .great video
but what do i do in regular classes?
what to do in rolling?
how to practice different by your advise
TNX
thanks kit! OSSS!
EH! awesome advice! next video please
Nice! I try it ;-)
Cool vid
Kit Dale Thanks for the video Kit. Is this applicable for higher belts or can a white belt with much fewer techniques use this approach as well?
Thanks Kit. Do you suggest doing more Randori (open mat) rather than going to classes and then work on aspects of your game? For me, it's about trying to maximize the time I have to train.
Hi kit, got my blue belt over 2 months ago took me like a year and something almost two, dont know if I could like you reach to black that fast though im in no rush, but would like to get my purple in year or at least maximize my mat time quality and there for results so with or with out new belt I can get better faster, got any tips on that to add to this video you showed? thanks OSS
I'm not sure what's going on, but I tried to watch this video and doesn't have sound.
I do not do 10th planet but do you think that is why they have had so much success? The work with a "work flow" that they follow?
Awesome shirt
Fractal bjj love it!!
Kit you got your black in just over 4 years?
That's an amazing shirt
Dat exit.
an alternate way to accomplish the same thing. if you have good coaches they give you a well rounded defense at white belt and teach you to take the linear chain link from there at blue belt.
Are you using an iPhone to film?
Am I missing something or is this just the concept of learning? You don't know something, so you work through it using trial and error. Or are you essentially criticising the practice of some BJJ training, in which the techniques are unconnected from one another.
It’s obvious but not what a lot of people emphasise
nice shirt
Trial and error is the ONLY form of learning.
Hi
no sound
hey mate are you still sponsored by KP? just wondering..
I almost can't hear you.
