  • Kit Dale shows shows one concept that can change your whole game when applied to BJJ.
Learning jiu jitsu is a skill and an art. You have to approach it the most effective way and unfortunately all schools don't do that. some of you may be exposed to random techniques from your instructor, a lot of warmup and little to no positional sparring. You may also feel that your conceptual understanding of jiu jitsu could use some structure. In that case you may be interested in my master project.

💥THE ART OF LEARNING JIU JITSU 💥
🥋By x2 World Pro Champ & BJJ Black Belt Kit Dale

    ✍🏻TESTIMONIALS
“It's honestly by far the greatest content I've seen on BJJ and I've bought, watched, and read over 50 hours of content in just this year alone.” Antoine B.
“Kit Dale’s conceptual approach really works for me. As someone who only started training late in their early 30s it feels like a much more efficient way to learn. Which is important considering I have to scrape together hours to train each week between work and family commitments.” Cam G.
"I watched volume 1 of The Art of Jiu Jitsu. Then I went to class and instantaneously performed effortless sweeps and maintained my base in every roll. I am shocked at how 3 principles stated out loud improved my game." Sean R.
"The approach to Jiu Jitsu outlined in your videos are pure gold. Kit Dale is the Tim Ferris of Jiu Jitsu! Thank you for putting this out. I have a new plan for learning and to teach my wife & kids." Mike K.

Bjj is a transitional attack and defense discipline based upon physical condition and time/space knowledge. The moves are easy but how, when and where apply then is the personal secret to be revealed. Excelent advice. Good teacher!

I keep coming back to this. I recently started writing down what works for my body type and im shooting for three transitions (only at one or two in most positions). Great concept. Keep posting videos bud, they help and are very appreciated.

    Excellent advice, Mr. Dale.
I just started Brazilian Jiujitsu last week. I go to classes, learn techniques but the best way to actually apply what you've learned is thru rolling with someone. Trial and error is the best way to learn, no matter what the subject is.

I agree. Train smart. techniques that don't work for your body are a waste of time. You have to either modify them or find another route.

Hey Kit thanks for advice. i will definitely use it to build and develop my game. I talked a lot of smack about you and your breakdown of eddie bravo's lockdown. I was ignorant. I would like to apologize for that. Tho its funny but after that breakdown video i decided to watch more of your videos to make sure i find more proof for my smack talking. And i found completely opposite to my opinion. I watched a lot of videos of yours and read stuff you shared about bjj and my perception about you as an instructor and a bjj black belt changed 180 degrees. respect and keep posting.
too bad you got caught on metamoris but im sure youll be back better and stronger !

I like the perspective you presented. It seems like you are saying there is so much more to jiu jitsu than just the *techniques*. I would present that there are an infinite number of techniques from an infinite number of positions so the training should be approached holistically, not just focusing on the sweeps, submissions, etc, but also on all the nuances in between that determine success or failure.

This makes a lot of sense to me - Blue Belt in Jiu Jitsu but been in martial arts since the late 80’s - I think 🤔 you explained very well what I’ve been doing & helped me to understand it at a deeper level...

Really helpful! Love it. I've already started my first branch. If I'm on bottom I get spider guard, sweep to full mount and that opens up either an ezekiel choke or cross choke.

As a White belt I enjoy having the random techniques given every lesson. This allows for me to learn and understand where I am at and my opponent. Building Kit's "web" is very much the process of a blue+ belt.

  • @rivercityninjas

Great concept I think even when I had an instructor back in 2004-2005. I used this concept for all my growth however it wasn't a fast track through the belts as I've been a blue since the summer of 2005. Lol however I think that more of an issue of consistency and not being part of a local bjj club then the concept of trial and error :)

This advise works for learning generally. If you are dictated answers to problems without first trying to solve the problem, you do not grasp an essential element, which is why the other solutions did not work.

Am I missing something or is this just the concept of learning? You don't know something, so you work through it using trial and error. Or are you essentially criticising the practice of some BJJ training, in which the techniques are unconnected from one another.
