Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
Took my sister Laura to see her at The Shubert in Century City/Los Angeles. She has an energy in person. No other I've known can make you laugh uncontrollably with just simple jokes or expressions. It's a true phenomena! And so contagious throughout the audience. You, along with everyone, just keep shaking with laughter. Wish I could see her again!!!
I had the very good fortune of seeing a performance of Dame Edna in San Francisco a number of years ago. We were cautioned not to get seats too close to the stage or you could end up on it as part of her act. Because the performance was sold out we couldn’t sit next to the other couple we came with and they had seats near the stage. Sure enough, our friend was called up by Dame Edna and I guarantee it was a night that poor fellow will never forget. We almost fell out of seats with laughter at his misfortune. She is such a fantastic talent.
I'm thinking of many many years ago when I and a mate of mine sat in an audience at a London theatre and dreaded that she would pick on one of us, and, I tell you, absolutely wept with laughter. Edna is a genius.

Madame Dame is, was, and will be a Forever Legend!!!!! Make 'em roll around the clouds. She changed lives with her comedy. Food and laughs are natural bonding ties.....

I had the misfortune of being dragged up on stage by Edna during Barry's farewell tour of the U.K. and "married" to another audience member! The perils of being on the front row at a Barry Humphries show ! It was hilarious and glad I got to meet him as Edna and have a photo to prove it! Relieved it wasn't during the Les Patterson sketch as my friend got spat on by him without leaving his seat!!!
I once purchased a ticket for "Back With a Vengence" at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne. When I asked for a front-row seat the ticket seller warned me, stating that either Dame Edna would select me to appear as a guest on 'Chit-chat with Edna' or I would cop any amount of spittle from Sir Les. Loved the shop. Dame Edna will always be an icon.
Oh Dear Dame Edna - how great to see you!! We love you!! And how funny about the scarf from the Queen: "she should have given it to Camilla" - OMG!! too funny!! And yes, Dame Edna - we do need laughter more than ever!! And thankfully we have you!! God bless you!!
It's interesting because there's the exact SAME ROUTINE that she does for the Canadian comedy program 'Just for Laughs' at that same Montreal comedy tour (same costume even) in 2005 and she does the same jokes with an old woman named OLIVE. So it was nice to see the same material used on a different person. The other video is posted by the account: Firenzeta here on RUclips.
When dignitaries kiss you and treat you as the character , you know that the character is real . Brilliant brilliant man. If youre fortunate enough to obtain a copy of Sir Les Patterson’s “ The Traveller’s Tool” read it and cherish it. Beyond compare.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
Oh dear 🙄A world without the Dame and Sir les 🙄🙄Won't be the same 🙄🙄A true Artist of the art of comedy ☺We really won't see the likes of B H ever again sadly 🙄But, thank God we have the memories ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺😃😂
The other rendition of this routine is much better with Olive. Edna seems uncharacteristically hesitant at times during this performance. I wonder why the "Guinness book of records" joke she was about to make was discarded. She attempts to start it twice and then decides against it. The other version for comparison: ruclips.net/video/YV6Q4Q9u1pU/видео.html
“Dame Edna” played the Goblin King in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Or her creator, Barry Humphries or Humphrey. FYI. Hard to put the two characters together, eh?!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
You obviously ha ent a sense of humour, Jean probably enjoyed being centre of attention, Barry Humphries is a genius with comedy and he would know no whether he is pushing someone into to an uncomfortable situation
My mom told me about her last night, said she reminder her of my great grandma, I guess she and my auntie nene would watch her growing up in horror lmao 🤣 and yes I know its a man in drag
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
Dame Edna always singled out an audience member. Inevitably, someone in the first two rows. It was part of her performance act. If you knew this, you would try to seat yourself far away from those first two rows. Otherwise, you were fair game. 😂
If Barry Humphies is an Australian, why does he speak like an Englishman when not in character? I can understand for the character but not when not in character.
Doesn’t sound remotely English to brits or aussies, yanks have no ear for accents. Also Edna’s an Aussie character from a particular place, why would the creator have her accent? He lived in England most his life.
People may say that she is legend but for me nah her voice itself is so annoying and irritating . She goes to stage and says one word and people laugh just because she has comedic name and status but makes no sense . There are other drags who are far far better and more character than her .
Honey her jokes make perfect sense. They are just a bit more indirect and elegant. No offence, i do have a friend that does not get her jokes. He is a footballer...if you get my drift.
RIP Dame Edna/Barry Humphries - so many years of great fun and laughter. We were blessed to have you!

Indeed!
Watched Dame Edna for the first time last night. I was up all night laughing. Hilarious.

A pure genius that chose comedy as a career .
Thanks for the amazing wit and care.

I'm watching this in March 2022 and your line "We need laughter more than anytime before" is the best words I've heard in weeks. God love YOU ❤

Wonderful! Dame Edna at wickedest. No one even comes close the Barry Humphrey's genius.
My dear Dame, you have given me so many laughs and so much joy. Thank you to bits!

rest in piece Barry , you was and always will be one of the best
So funny. A gift, “The ability to laugh at the misfortunes of others”. Fantastic.
He she is brilliant cracks me up everytime 😂😂😂😂😂
I love dame edna. Saw her live in Philadelphia. She is absolutely brilliant.

Please upload the photo you mentioned!☺

Poor Jean! Very funny though 😂
Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna ❤ R.I.P. one of the Greatest in his business. Warmest greetings to heaven from Germany

She's HILARIOUS 😁😁😁😁
Yes Dame Edna and it is sad you have left us now there is no one to fill your high heels!
Wow - good on ya Jean. You're a good sport :-)
When dignitaries kiss you and treat you as the character , you know that the character is real . Brilliant brilliant man. If youre fortunate enough to obtain a copy of Sir Les Patterson’s “ The Traveller’s Tool” read it and cherish it. Beyond compare.
I will. Thanks for the heads up.
Rest in peace. Thanks for the childhood memories
Jean probably wishes she’d stayed home and watched this years later you RUclips too.
Damn that lady in the audience got torn up 😂😂😂
I felt bad for poor Jean. But I still love Edna.
But only in the nicest way=one of the Dames best expressions a in "I mean this in the nicest way."
I thought she was a real woman growing up haha
I don't think you're the only one who thought that!
How many times did I see her on Joan Rivers totally perplexed?!
Same
Perception is reality
Me too. Looks like a lot of my aunties, so fair dos
I love her hair color!
EDNAS THE BEST !!!!
She's beyond hilarious 😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
Truly very funny.
I just love Dame Edna
Jean decided to hang around for a while after the show.
Ah, to be insulted by Dame Edna. I envy you Jean.
love yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
To laugh at the misfortune of others is called SCHADENFREUDE!!
*_Poor Jean._*
A legend.
GOLD!!!
Poor Jean :D :D :D
Clearly Edna was jealous of lovely Jean's natural beauty 💯🔥👍
Edna did the voice of the Goblin king in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Poor Jean...
Jean was probably presented with a bunch of flowers from the Dame after the show.
4:51 This part made miss Dame Edna badly
Fantastic

Not her best performance.
I think she needs others to bounce off.
Michael Parkinson, Dame Edna, Sharon Osbourne and Helen Mirren in 2004 was a root.
She fits right in to todays society.
And we need people like the Dame more than ever to satirise and skewer it...
Best drag act ever
Do you think this drag queen is a groomer de santis

From which year is this?
From 2005 , filmed in Montreal.
Poor Jean
😂😂😂
Poor Jean..... I don't know how many other comedians can do a routine on how ugly a crowd member is.
How vicious.
Dame Edna ok, but sir les much funnier
She trashes Toronto and Jean, in ways that only endear her to us
I always laugh but it’s kinda mean to pick on an audience member. Celebrities are fair game cause they put themselves out there…but poor Jean
Dame Edna always singled out an audience member. Inevitably, someone in the first two rows. It was part of her performance act. If you knew this, you would try to seat yourself far away from those first two rows. Otherwise, you were fair game. 😂
I feel sorry for Jean. He/she is funny, but can be hurtful.
She took it too far.
@@martinloney6322 aussie humour take a joke dahlz

he's well spoken...not all of us speak in a nasally slang.
He has an Australian accent.
He has a refined Australian accent. Probably to do with working in the theatre as an actor.
There are many Australian accents according to upbringing and education.
Doesn’t sound remotely English to brits or aussies, yanks have no ear for accents. Also Edna’s an Aussie character from a particular place, why would the creator have her accent? He lived in England most his life.
Silly.
I am an Australian, but could never find him funny hardly at all!🙂🙂
I love Dame Edna, but she pushed too far with Jean, you never know what affect that can have on certain people.
I don't find her funny . Her jokes makes no sense .
not everybody is wired for camp humor ! It's ok darling we understand !
