finally a video that stayed on subject without a lot of unnecessary jibber jabber about how the truck arrived late for the job to be done and how much trouble you had getting the truck in the garage due to weather conditions, and how the compressor for the air gun broke down, you get the idea...........great video.......thanks,,,,,,,,i've done a bunch of these myself but never with that slick press you guys have.........i'm jealous........great job..........
Hendrickson suspensions are hard work. Many times we lifted those springs and hangars out by hand and they are fucking heavy. It helps to have good equipment. Even with that said, they are by no means easy.
@@AngeloBerardi-em3js I used to replace them springs in the field by hand with no crank or lift. I have gotten older now and would not do it the same way!
@@timstanford3443 No doubt! I can honestly say I don’t know one person who has done semi and equipment work that doesn’t have sore hand arms and a bad back. Most couldn’t do it for a day.
After having done a lot of spring work myself, it always interesting to see how a suspension specialist does it. Its hard dirty work for sure! Great video!
Exactly how I've done them in the past - many times ... Whenever possible I used to renew the road springs as well .. a real pain if one broke shortly after ... great informative and accurate video ... keep at it lads ! ! ! .... regards from a retired mechanic in England.
Yes, a job you don’t want to do over again. For the price of the spring, although not cheap, it’s worth it to do one time. Many times the pins won’t take grease and stresses the leafs causing them to break. Good video.
Well he makes it look easy. I’ve been doing suspension Hendrickson especially for 30 years. This job is not normally this easy. Ivan give u one trick leave tire on and but 8” blocks under tires and lock down the brakes. It will make the job easier
Hey man great video. Question for ya. I have the rte and it’s time for bushings soon. But I was thinking just sell that suspension and swap in a air leaf set up instead. I can basically get a as new set up for what they will actually charge me to replace this whole bucking horse. It’s about 3-5 grand quote Canadian from anyone here. And 3 grand for a whole rear with empty diffs. What say you. It’ll def improve my ride. It’s a t800 dump truck.
Thanks for watching I really appreciate it. In my opinion this is one of the best setups for a dump truck. It can haul heavy loads and doesn’t take a lot of maintenance. I’m sure an airbag setup would help the ride tremendously but they’re more complex so there would be more maintenance.
I have the same system on my truck. I purchased saddles because the drivers side is showing a crack. I will be replacing both sides. My walking beams are not taking grease. I tried using the lock and lude where you hammer penetrating oil to unclog them. What can be done so that they take grease? I have replaced the zerk fitting.
I'm having my 85 peterbilt done this week. I live in upstate NY the salt country. One good thing my trucks never seen a winter. So hope it's an easy one for them.
Можно работать, когда все приспособления , оправки , и оборудование вокруг машины 👍 Я видел другие помещения и ремонт без помещения в районах крайнего севера . Бедолаги водители в России , никаких условий для ремонта ...
The bigger the better. I do all the work on my trucks myself except for the center and end bushings (all 3 trucks have Hendrickson walking beam susp.) These require so much force to remove and re-install properly and special tools to press them out/in that I’d rather pay the $3,800 to have them rebushed. Just the tool from OTC to do the end bushings is over $12,000 dollars with the right adapters:
@@terrellscaife2411 If you can do it with just that little press let us know, I’d be impressed. I’ve got some of the tools it would take but this guy had 8-12 hours in this job, so for me it would probably be a lot longer, say 3 work days where the trucks down not making $95 an hour. At that point I break even having the shop do it and I get it back the next day and avoid a sore back and neck. The Hendrickson book says you need a 100 ton press minimum to do the center bushings, then drag out the 1” drive impact gun and fire up the big compressor to run it. I’ve got these tools plus the 4 25 ton jacks it takes but I don’t have the right size adapters to press out the old and in the new bushings (they’re different sizes for center and end bushings) just those adapters cost $1,200, and I’d hate to wrestle the 160 lb each beams back up in and tighten it all back up, I don’t even have a torque wrench that goes to the 550 ft.lbs required to do the job.
Yeah JR I see your point but I was really just asking the question will it work i’m not sure if I would do this job if it came our way I i’m just really a neighborhood guy I would work on anything for my lawn more to a big truck I mean I have 20 ton bottle jacks 12 ton jackstands so maybe not a walking being job but maybe a normal suspension job for me
@@SemiWorkin people don’t realize how hard working in semi trucks is. That’s why I hate the words grease monkey. You have to be smart as well as stressing your body to shit to work on trucks. Every one should do it once to realize what hard work is. I’m definitely feeling it after 30 years I’ll tell ya.
Yo traje esa suspensión en un Torton en México Dina y es muy caro el mantenimiento se desgastan los bujes esos que le están cambiando y no duran mucho es mejor de balancín la suspensión

There are just somethings that you should let a skilled tech with the right tools do. This is one of those things. I hope these guys get paid well.

Does anyone know what suspension this walking beam is called im having trouble ordering parts for
No rust, there is no way things would come apart that easy here on the West Coast. Just changed a spring pack on one of our trucks extended leaf.

How many hrs/miles should bushings last on a Hendrickson?
Thanks for watching!! It's hard to say it really depends on multiple factors.
How long did this job take from wheels off until done?

How much is the price for that rebuild?
12:20 what this pin will be worth after welding these plugs?

So is it possible to press those bushings out with a 20 ton press
