Okay so just as a small explanation, the "started with a whisper" that phrase means it started as larry and maya whispering to pearl about to opportunity and got her screaming, getting miles to think about it and then fransiska getting all mad. So the whole thing is, it all started with larry and maya whispering to everyone fricken yelling :>

long story short, he was very whipped for his girlfriend in college who was a murderer to the point that he was willing to consume the glass necklace that she gave him as a "present" (it had poison in it that she used to kill another dude with) to prove that she didnt do the murder that she totally did do
im pretty sure all the poison was gone when he consumed that shit like the disaster bi he is, but he still like

To basically summarize.
They were childhood friends that were split up. Miles (cravat guy) always wanted to be a defense attorney like his father, but that suddenly changed. And Phoenix (spiky hair) discovered that he became a prosecutor who was labeled as the “demon prosecutor”. Startled by the change in his old friend, Phoenix began studying law in hopes of meeting him within the courtroom and save him from darkness. A main part of Phoenix wanting to become a lawyer was to save people, especially Miles Edgeworth.
