its amazing to watch her play the solos, but then you realize all of the other instruments are playing music *she wrote* and she's listening to her imagination play out behind her and its incredible

WHAT! She composed this? I just saw her for the first time with Amira in a video playing piano and she plays violin this well and composed this!!!?? My mind is blown!! This is the most fun piece of orchestral music I've ever heard and it just shows the kind of innocent mind it comes from. This is unreal man!!

The most remarkable thing is that at her age she seems to know not only the relation of key areas in music composed in the common practice period but also how to modulate without making it too obvious. Most music I've heard in new music forums either refuses to modulate or modulates very awkwardly. Not this piece, which promises and delivers with perfect dramatic timing everything promised by dramatic timing.

I think you should chill a little with your overly-exaggerated praise. Rossini and Verdi were pioneers of the italian style of Opera, this girl is just imitating styles and has no distinct personality of her own.

Albert Lin - Were talking about a ten year old child in this video. She is learning at a phenomenal pace. All genius's learn from others, the masters you referred to included, they didn’t start out with their finest works. You're really quite inconsiderate of the talent and beautiful music she has produced up to now.

.......I don't want to insult any violinists, but Alma is different of all the prodigies this world has seen. Composing THIS at a YOUNG AGE?! Now, that's... just... whoa!
Seriously, I know there are great violinists that can play really well, but her playing this concerto and COMPOSING THIS at THIS AGE?! You know, we don't have talents like this nowadays. Yes, it takes very very hard work, but this concerto in a young age?!
The world should start watching out for her because she is really good. I hope great musicians would listen to what she composes because it's just so MIND BLOWING!?
I really want to go to her concerts now!

From what I've read, Mozart's sister could have rivaled him in ability, at least in playing, but attitudes of the time period would not allow her the fame and success of her brother. She did play with him when they were younger.

To everyone comparing Alma Deutscher to some long dead, not resurrected previous musician or composer: No; this young lady _is_ Alma Deutscher.
Why do people have to deny the fact that a prodigy stands in their own right, not as a so-called 'second'? That's denigrating the person, whilst also detracting from the previous composer, almost presuming that they could have been better. She is the 'first', as is any other prodigy or genius.
Let her develop along her own path, without shoe-horning her into some imagined previous person's blazed trail. Please, simply enjoy her art, styles and capabilities while she is here. Celebrate it, and don't risk bypassing her; missing out on something truly special.

pa1189j she also gets more attention because this was more common back in mozarts day. Mozart's music was perfect but alma still needs work. This song was sort of redundant for that she played a variation of a melody while other instruments took over which isn't the best thing but it's still to a level of extraordinary.

What joy! Her parents must be incredibly proud. My own daughter is close to Alma's age, plays a 3/4 violin, and is my own joy (though is more of a "normal" violin student, working her way through Suzuki Book 4)! Each child is a treasure in his or her own way. Alma was gifted with these special talents, and is sharing them with the world; we are all therefore blessed. May every parent allow their children to blossom like this, and the world would surely be a better place.

IWhen I first heard this I simply could not believe that one so young could play it let alone compose the thing. This child is sensational, the fact that she comes from Woking is one massive reason to be proud of this country. What a fantastic future this little one has got. Given the correct guidance, and allowed to still be s child and grow up at her own pace, she could become one of the greatest composers of all time along with the likes of Haydn, Shumann and Brahms.

+jepz11 The very fact that we exist is also a miracle. When we see what a child can do if they are given a chance surely makes us yearn to live forever, in order to enjoy life with them.If you were to look into the Bible you will read that death is an enemy which is to be brought to nothing, then followed by a ressurection or re-creation. This will mean that you can actually meet Mozart or Maria Callas etc. right here in the flesh. The Earth is our home after all. Be like Alma, dare to dream.

I listen to you play piano and violin and feel your heart and soul in all the beautiful music you play and create. I feel how your soul moves the music, how music moves your soul, and how you enter the music with your whole heart. Grownups may hear your technical perfection; I hear and feel your heart and soul - for that I am grateful and I thank you.
I hear Chopin, Mozart, and Paganini in your creations. May your wonderment be ongoing. May you always keep the wonderment of how melodies come to you. May your spirit continue to share the beauty of your music. I look forward to hearing your music today and forever. I am always gratefully listening to your beauty, to your music, to your soul. You are right about us 'Brits'. If you watched the Alan Yentob documentary he was obviously uncomfortable being in the presence of such a talented and beautiful musician - he looked miserable and was totally the wrong choice of interviewer. Unfortunately millions of British TV viewers would prefer to watch the so called 'X Factor' shows complete with an audience of screaming morons that promote very forgettable, 'one minute wonder' performances. Alma is far too talented - and wise - to even consider taking part in any kind of competition. Classic FM, the BBC and other broadcasters are too politically correct and cannot find the right 'label' to describe a young girl from Dorking that produces such wonderful music. The fact that her Father is from Israel might be a factor???

As a composer myself, it's really a great joy to see a young composer like Alma write in a harmonic and melodic language that still has much to say to all of our hearts. In my own experience most people still feel that the tonal language is still valid today. It's just the media, the intellectuals, the "high-class" that are engulfed by the mind that can't see past the illusion of modernism.
In fact, I remember in school being told to stop writing "silly music" or to write "serious music", because that language was of the past and it should stay in the past. I wasn't allowed to pursue my own voice in writing, but I have never given up, and I'll never give up. It's nice to know I'm in good company!

Today (8.3.2018) I was in your concert in Zürich (sitting in the first row, corner of the right block, where you pass to come on this little "stage"), hearing your wonderful Violin Concerto (in the new 2017-Version). It was so amazing to see and hear you play! I love your music from the first time I heard it. Last week I was in Luzern in the KKL, when you played the Piano Concerto, which I love also. Two terrific peaces of music!

Alma is truly gifted and will be known for hundreds of years as are the other great masters. I hope she does a CD or better yet a DVD of the entire concerto. I love watching her as she plays. Her future is going to be exciting!

I was 13 when I discovered Alma and I thought she was great, now I'm 14 and decided to look properly at what she has done. I think she might even be better than Mozart was at her age (from what I have read). She seems to understand the complexity and emotions of classical music whoch I don't really understand, I just feel the emotions as I play and spend hours just composing a very short piece. I used to say 'Nothing is Impossible', only half believing it. I used to think a girl like Alma was impossible, composing such wonderful works at such a young age. Alma has taught me that really, nothing is impossible, and that has given me hope. She has given me hope for mankind.CancelPost

What do you mean that Alma is not a composer? Where did her violin concerto come from, or the piece for symphony orchestra "Dance of the Solent Mermaids" or the two operas, the piano sonata, the string quartets and the trios? They must have just sprung out of thin air. Do you even know what the word "composer means?" Oh yes, there are the variations for piano, and the Andante for Violin and piano, the first movements of a violin sonata, a viola sonata, and piano concerto, the song "The Night Before Chritmas" and the Impromptu improvisation for the people of Paris. Yes, you are right. Alma is a virtuoso but she definitely is a composer also.
