Thank you for another lovely video. I was born and bred in Godmanchester, but went to secondary school in Huntingdon (many, many years ago). On snowy days in the winter, we all used to make sure we'd packed a carrier bag into our school bags so that during our long walk home to Godmanchester, we could stop off at Castle Hills, sit on our carrier bags at the top of the hills and slide all the way down! Brilliant fun!
I lived in Huntingdon for 5 years. There is a lot of snobbery in Cambridgeshire and Huntingdon is looked down on as being rough! Coming from the North of England I thought that was funny, this is likely because nothing ever happens in Cambridgeshire and they have to keep occupied somehow. The people of Huntingdon are a very decent bunch and I always felt welcome, if you can handle sleepy; live there.
"Oliver Cromwell Lord protector of England".....errr......not quite, he let the Jews back into England after they had quite rightly been shown the door by King Edward I, and we have been stuck with them ever since. Fatal mistake.
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks.
I think this was the town where a cousin of mine had a very popular butcher shop. Looks like a really nice place to live. Quiet and gentle.

The first thing I thought of when I saw castle hills was “that’d be fun to sled down!”

That was his nomenclature.
