I love the idea that Loki can create a story--like scenario to help Thor, but he has to give the story stakes and an antagonist to make it more powerful. That's why he takes the role of the antagonist, because he's the only one Thor can trust, even as his enemy. As usual, Ewing knows what he's doing.👌

Loki putting Thor into situations to teach him a lesson in order for him to take on a greater threat is VERY reminiscent of Beyonder in Avengers Beyond.

The one detail I like about this episode is that Thor made a massively powerful weapon and used it to shave his beard and whittle.
Loki was the trickster mentor he loves being.
Fun Fact in IRL mythology Udgard Loki is a real concept separate from normal loki (not udgard thor though)
In actual Norse mythology Loki is also not Thor’s brother and Loki has no powers whatsoever.

@@FindingMyselfOutside Not sure where you got the idea he can't from, because he can in both of them. He turns into a fly which is why Mjolnir's handle is slightly shorter than being two-handed, he's also turned into a horse to attract the horse of the person they hired to build a wall before the beginning(or end of summer, don't remember which) in exchange for one of the godesses' hand in marriage, which resulted in Odin's horse. He has powers and is literally blood brothers with Odin. I don't know where you got the idea he doesn't.

So some notes Upside down runes are a thing not something Loki created, turning a run upside down reverses or makes negative of the meaning. Second Loki was breaking character when Thor put the axe against his neck. For Thor he was shaving his beard he wasn't going to end it all and give up. But Loki thought he broke down and didnt want to lose his brother. but when he caught himself breaking character he was like, oh wait i mean no I have worse things instore for you totaly. You have to understand Loki is playing the enemy here because thats what Thor needs, but Loki still deeply cares for Thor thats what Thor realizes at the end that this is all just a trick as you said. Loki was setting him up to win. Also rune stones and Rune staff are two different things. Runes are used for magic or language or fortunetelling.

This is the Thor we need right now. Thor is a very very serious character. He's never the comic relief and even the joke he played on Tony Stark was the most Thor kind of joke ever. It feels like Ewing is getting close to the true Norse Religion with how he's writing Loki. In those stories, Loki is not Thor's adopted brother but Odin's blood brother. And he's not an evil mastermind hell-bent on power above all; his purpose is to push the Norse Realms forward and make them grow.

@@Generic-usernam3 He does. But Ragnarök is a cycle, something that brings about another phase of the world. It's not inherently evil. And the Asgardians are not inherently good, either.

to my knowledge norse runes simply change their meaning by being upside down or right side up, loki did not actually change the meaning of it fundamentally, he simply inversed it, thus changing the meaning as anyone else could who uses runes and their magic
In truth, Odin hung upside down from Yggdrasil taking no food or water for a number of days in order to discover the knowledge of the runes.
The upside down thing is new age and not unlike an upside down tarot card.

Hulk just battled a creature in the Nexus of Realities that Man Things power could not handle. Im pretty sure the Mother Of Horrors is above anything Loki or any Utgard Being can do.

Loki is powerful, but I'm sorry he isn't on the level as the One Above All and maybe not these Elder Gods Thor is dealing with. Loki does have the ability to turn into reality whichever story he could fabricate about the past, retroactively altering history so it happened. But there are limits to it, like he can't rewrite events as they are happening or all of Marvel. Which is good that they didn't over power it cause then he'd be to OP and we rarely ever see him.

In Defenders Beyond, Loki left the comic itself and rewrote some things because it was funny. And he's only gotten stronger since then. In this comic, he casually rewrote how the All-Sleep works in real time. Do I think he is One Above All level? No. But he is arguably right there below.
@@alexgsproductions Yeah She-Hulk back in the 90's did something similar, as has Gwen-Pool and a few others. As for this comic he didn't so much rewrite how the All-Sleep works, as he put Thor in this weird dream-like alien world. The Rune staff helped make this possible as well. It was also the Rune that kept Thor trapped in that place tell he figured out the riddle. This magic and Rune spell would either help Thor speed through the All-Sleep until he figured it out, or starve to death on a alien world in a forgotten time. But having passed he "woke" from this weird place as if he never left. Refreshed and brought back a new weapon.
Loki loves to scheme for a throne , but he becomes bored with the role.
