Macrotonic - Attack Release 2024

Alan started exploring computer music over two decades ago back in the deep past when DAW software had single digit version numbers. With a modicum of musical theory mostly garnered from noodling about on a guitar he starting creating his first loops and building up his first tracks. They didn't sound wholly terrible. So he ploughed on, mostly for his own amateurish pleasure but occasionally plucking up the courage to unleash his confections upon unsuspecting friends and family. They weren't wholly discouraging. Then, not long before something called Covid happened, a friend suggested putting some tracks 'out there'. Macrotonic was born and the first tracks were duly unleashed into the world. Well, onto the usual streaming platforms at least. And then.......nothing. Turns out not a lot happens when you do that. But more success was to be had through the BBC Introducing programme which resulted in a few tracks being broadcast on Radio Scotland and even a play on BBC 6Music.
As Macrotonic, Alan has released a number of tracks to the usual channels running the spectrum from melodic club adjacent beats through to moody downtempo ambient pieces. Two collections can be found on the Macrotonic bandcamp and indeed, you can interact through his homespun website at
