I'm impressed with how gentle they are. Once they acclimate to you and their new home, I bet they will be even more so. I can see how you could develop a strong bond with them.
I am Mom to a young man with autism. We bought a milk goat for his stomach issues and we have joked around that we need a camel!! There is an Amish farmer in SW Missouri who has camels and sells milk. I have thought about trying to find him and purchase some milk, but have never followed through. We purchased a milk goat and we love the milk. Doesn't taste goaty at all, but we do make sure to get it in the refrigerator right after milking. I was told that different breeds of goats produce different tasting milk. Our goat is a Saanen and she is a great family goat. I look forward to watching your camel journey!
Camels are the best! Glad to see you folks are connecting with some of the movers and shakers in the community. I want to homestead with camels, I am loving this camel content and it is inspiring me, thanks for sharing!
Tip: Sharpie markers wash off of glass jars. I use them to write the date and the cows name on my milk jars. Makes it easier to find new or old milk in the fridge and which cow's milk it is. I giggled during the coconut pudding part! Too funny! 😂
I'm sure you guys know the nourishing traditions book. I just started to make and eat more fermented and soured things, like fermented veggies and soured raw milk made into simple cream cheese. I don't know how it is with small children but I assume many of us need more of these enzyme and probiotic rich food in our modern diet. I hope all goes well and the camel milk helps your child!
Prayers for baby steady's gut issues ..bless his heart .. when my daughter was little she had milk issues that was almost 35 years ago not as many options back then we just watered her 2% down that helped she does the almond milk now so does everybody in her home..good luck with the camels I think it's awesome..kinda exotic like peacocks or Emu's definitely not the average homestead animal
I wouldn't think the cold would affect them in there regions the temperature at night can drop drastically..maybe the prolonged cold temperatures as least it does was back up during the days in camel town
Never heard of camel's milk until now, watching these videos! Pretty interesting! My husband has stomach issues so I'll be looking into this option now.
New subscriber here🙋🏼♀️! Just found y’all and I LOVE the idea of having camels!!! She is very sweet and docile🥰 Can’t wait to follow y’all on your journey!!!
wonderful as a mother of many allergy kids i commend you all for your efforts in helping your kids, Luckily we all do well on almond and coconut milk, Good for you, how are the puppies doing i would love to see a follow up on them once the newness of the camels and its excitment has become the norm. Keep up your creativity.
Will you share more in the future about the baby's gut issues and how you came to the conclusion that camel milk is the solution? I'm just curious to learn more!
Wildflower Valley Farm 🌼💐🌻🌺 #K She did a lot of intense researching. I think she described it as going down a rabbit 🐰 hole 😊 on the internet. They will keep us updated on everything I’m sure of this. Keep watching. They are taking us with them on how things go. 🌹I was So Happy to learn all the kids are drinking the 🐪 Milk👍 I can’t jump on board the 🐪 Train. Sure want to. But nothing is gonna stop me from following along in the Caboose. 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Camel milk doesn’t actually do anything, and leaky gut is often used by naturopaths to explain what might be normal digestive issues that have nothing to do with gut perforations such as IBS, which is an autoimmune disorder.
I don't know a lot about camels, but they are my favorite animal. I've known three different camels and they all loved affection. They are amazing animals.
I'll say it again, the love of your family comes through! THAT is really what it is all about! My autistic grandson is MY LIFE! MY WORLD! There is NOTHING I will not do for him! I get it! I KNOW THIS WQILL BE NOTHING BUT SUCCESS!!!! ( I wish so bad I could by a train ticket)
So glad it’s working out! I was thinking about the salty taste. I think it’s a very natural thing for the Camels because they are usually in very hot climates and the deserts. Probably has something to do with them being able to go with out water for a little while. #askhomesteady Will the camels be introduced to the cows? Or will they be kept apart?
Praying for a complete healing for the whole family and I want to tell you what a good dad and mom you are . We all have good examples in you. I think this was a win win..first it hopefully heals the baby but afterwards you can sell the milk and breed the camels for others in the same predicament. Also making these videos will hopefully increase your income so it can help you financially for at least 3 different ways....you can't lose! God bless your whole family.
I can remember when I was young and we had a cow on our farm. Sometimes in the spring and summer our cow would get into some wild onions. You talk about changing the taste of your milk, WOW! And the bad thing about it, you had to drink it. That was what you had. If you didn't drink the milk, your only other choice was water. I still don't like water as my main drink of choice.
I'm not a fan of water either I have to be very hot and the water has to be ice cold for me to stand it...but I'm not a milk drinker either again it has to be ice cold sometimes I'll even throw a ice cube in it...i mainly drink ice tea or coffee doesn't that count as water intake.. Unfortunately my doctor says no..aww what does he know..lol
You guys have such an adorable family, me and my wife only have one kid, at first we thought we wanted more til we had one, it's such hard work. But I think a family of 3-4 kids is so adorable. Who knows. But I also want to start a homestead to avoid all the they put in our food now adays. After watching your videos I feel more confident that it can be done for my wife, my son, and I. Thank you for the inspiration.
WTH?! A Camel? Lol. I think Camels are so beautiful. I would love to have a Camel. This is a beautiful addition to your Homestead. I wish you the best with them.
Thanks for sharing this information on Camels & their gut healing milk! I have irritable bowel syndrome & I'm wondering if it might work to heal my gut problems! Thanks again! Much Love & God Bless You,Your Family &👍🏻👍🏻🤗 Animals 🙏🏻😇🙏🏻❤😘
I feel like when they drew the dragon character Falcor from "The NeverEnding Story" they were looking at a camel... This was so great to watch beginning to end! I hope this works for your whole family!
You just needed to adjust. When we moved from PA, where we drank raw Jersey, to MT, where it is illegal to sell it - though the black market thrives here - I literally cried when I drank the milk we would be getting here. One week, and it was fine. Just different.
Boy, you guys are brave, buying camels before you even taste the milk! Keeping going where no man (or woman) have never gone before! We will watch. 👍😊😍
I got in on your babies issue late but if your dealing with colic no doctor will tell you this any longer but 30+ years ago an old time doctor told us to take coke and shake most of the fizz off then mix half with water and give the baby about 2 ounces at a time once or twice a day the acid left in the coke was enough to move the gas and poop so the babies tummy ache went away ours would start at 11:00 at night and last 2 to 3 hours, the look on your face at one point brought back rough memories of those days we only did it for about a week and a half and the issue with colic cleared, I know it sounds crazy but its worth a try and it won't hurt them ……...stevie
Last week was also the first time camel milk for me, imported from Dubai to Amsterdam. It costs €3,99 for 250 ml and I just loved it! In my homecountry Turkey, people don’t keep camels anymore. The number of camels declined from 110.305 in 1950 to less than 1.500 in 2020. What a dramatic drop..
I always wanted a Camel. Congratulations to you an your family on your journey with camels. Middle eastern people been drinking camel milk for centuries.
@homesteady Well my hubby seen the video. I guess we are going to end up with camels also. lol I knew if he found out about milking camels he would want one. lol OMG I just can't get over the camels behind you chewing. lol So fun. Wow life is so fun isn't it?
This is so exciting!!! I have a tenth of an acre and my 5 year goal is to get a couple acres for myself and my two kiddos. We have chickens and a garden because that’s all we can do in our yard, but a major motivation for us to homestead is for healthier bodies and minds. I have depression and anxiety after a few rough things in past years, and having the ability to raise my own food and spend time outside learning to be more self sufficient is amazingly empowering. Now you have me wanting to try camel milk!

Aus&K, I love watching your kids grow and I think your youngest is going to really give you a run for your money, I meant figuratively because whatever you're doing K is making him so active and want to do everything that everyone else is doing.

the cow camel needs to calve once a year inorder to have milk . if it calved a year ago like yours she gets dry once the calve in aproaching a year old . thank you .
My hubby had ibs symptoms and I’ve been making and feeding him some kefir (served as overnight oats ) super yummy but I wonder if camel milk kefir would be good! It’s been a year and he’s practically healed , like it went girl daily stinky farts and tummy problems to like maybe once a month .
My youngest grand daughter you tell she can't have something that only the big kids can have then she makes big deal that she has to have some too That's how we get her to atlas try something new
I ordered a small amount of frozen camel milk to try once and loved it! I found it a bit salty at first but that went away after a few sips. I'm not crazy about pasteurized grocery store milk but found that if I could afford to buy camel milk on a regular basis, I would as it's quite pricey. Good luck with your adventure, and have some camel milk for me! 👍😃😉💕🐪🐫🐪🐫
how much do the pair of camels cost? and by volume how much milk do you get per milking? are you milking once a day and calf sharing the rest or are you milking twice a day like milk cows?
What’s the name and model of your refrigerator? I know it’s a weird question but it looks like a good long lasting appliance that I will like invest in. Thanks and keep the good videos coming.
As compared to their cousins, the Camels seem to be such dignified beasts. Except for the baby who is every bit as curious as a young Alpaca as long as you don't try to touch an Alpaca. They both have those long necks for a reason ;)
Camal milk is best of all kind of milk. If you have it for first time it clean your belly. It is a natural medicine. Then you will get used to it. Camels do not like being confined to a small spaces . And from them it will give you abundant milk.
Haha... JB you are having a tough first few days! Sorry for the trouble! Are you getting my emails? Check your spam folder, I send you all the instructions to access the library. go here to find the vids.... www.thisishomesteady.com/pioneers1/
@@afeminame Having been on a restrictive diet myself, you don't look at food in the traditional way (ie: will I like it - will it taste yummy, etc). It's a case of, can I digest this food like a normal human being? Taste, is secondary, when your body is fighting your food. It's a triumph when you can add something back in. :)
I don't think this tasting was about never had camel milk before, i think it was about having raw milk from this particular camel. I believe they spoke in the last video about having it frozen or some such.
Yep, an old video from when you guys were still at SquashHallow gave us the push we needed! Thanks for the shout out!!
@Kirk Leibov It's there in the description, I just added it

Again, I feel like to hug this baby camel for 24 hours. So adorable.
OMG the baby camel sneaking behind mama is so double cute. Camels is general are so cute and full of personality and docility.
Thank you for leaving in the coconut yogurt part😂

I was wondering if Camels are Kosher. To be a “clean” it has to have a split hoof and choose the Cud. I’ll have to do some research on it.
Okay, just checked. Camels are not Kosher
Horse milk also comes with similar health claims. And although not considered a kosher meat animal, that may very well be because of the use in war (camel by the way was also fairly essential for war and transport in desert terrain). 🤣🤣🤣
Crazy, right. I thought they tried it first. What if they didn't like it? Lol
I just keep thinking about 🐫 24 hour yogurt. I hope it helps your little guy!
