Hi Austin, cows and camels can co-graze. Camels leave a bacteria in the water that's beneficial to cows. Graziers in Queensland are doing it because it was good companion grazing.

@askhomesteady Austin, what about when their genetics change because of our Monsanto controlled agriculture? I am not pointing fingers, this is an honest concern of mine... I have so many allergies. I am so tired o being sick. I watch everything, you young people share!
@@Homesteadyshowactually I was thinking more along the lines of how long before the chemicals and genetic modifications that Monsanto bombards our food chain and food supplies with begins to affect the foods available to feed these animals and starts to impact the goodness of their milk. Trying not to be chicken little and the sky is falling, but in my 67 years, I have watched a terrible decline in the available 'clean' food sources. I grew up on a ranch and we bought salt, sugar, and flour from the grocery, we grew most everything else and ran a truck garden. Bailed our own hay, grew sorghum and corn to feed the livestock. My hat is off to all of the youngsters on youtube and in other digital arenas that are trying to bring back the good way of life and health.
#askhomesteady As we all know not all cows and cow's milk are the same. A Holstein gives many gallons of low cream milk per milking, while a Jersey gives high cream yet much less volume. Which is my roundabout way of getting to my question. Has there been evidence, studies or anecdotal tales of which type of camel milk is better/more quantity. There are dromedary camels (the type you have) and bactrian camels (2 humped). Milk the same, or are there differences? One thing that somewhat irks me, but I keep my mouth shut (or fingers still) because I don't like to post critical or discouraging comments, but far too many homesteaders I see make the same mistake. Especially with large stock (horses, cows, camels...) - You want to always lead them all the way through gates and doors, out of stanchions. I frequently see animals turn too fast and ram their hindquarters/stifles against the door jams/gate posts. This could cause serious injury. Livestock are not always all that bright so it behooves us as their guardians to help them stay safe.
I don’t know if you’ve addressed this previously, but have you tried formula for your baby? Or are you choosing to try camels rather than try formula? This would allow Kay and the rest of the family to go back to the diet that seemed to be working well for everyone before. Camels are cool and all, but I’m not following the logic of the decision here. Maybe you have tried other formulas? Yes the prescription formulas can be very expensive, but surely not as expensive as camels. Have you tried incorporating camel milk into your diet to see if solves the problems? I understand in principle the virtue of providing home-grown food for your family, the rabbits etc., but there are practical options available here that seem to make more sense to me and are far riskier. 🤷♀️ I don’t mean to be disrespectful, this is just the first decision made on homesteady that I honestly don’t understand. #askhomesteady
