Someone at my school decided to show us 11 year old kids this movie, on a 16mm projector in the school hall. That was during winter, 1980. I wish I knew whoever had that idea because I am forever grateful, and would love to buy them TWO BEERS! Love from the UK.
James Brown's character asking "Do you see the light?" followed by the telephone booth explosion is one of the funniest trailer edits I have ever seen.
The transfer of this trailer was a Mission from God. I own an original 1986 VHS of this movie and it plays great! Such a gem of a movie! I also noticed some lost shots that are present in this trailer!
You should of seen the reception this movie had on drive in fans back in the day...whoopin it up, horns blasting...good times. Yes i took my kids in their PJs with blankets and pillows, snacks, their friends...
I know Jake removes his glasses at one point in the movie, but I don't recall seeing Elwood without his sunglasses on in the film. Perhaps an excised scene?
It's in the extended cut. Elwood goes to quit his job working in an aerosol factory, telling his boss that he's going to become a priest. The boss wishes him well, and Elwood takes two cans of glue before he leaves - this helps set up why he has glue later in the movie that he uses on the gas petal of the Good Ole Boys' vehicle.
The deadpan delivery of the Blues Bros. was perfect. This movie got some heat from critics and theaters and opened a distant #2 at the box office behind the third week of The Empire Strikes Back. But audiences loved it and saved it, making it the tenth biggest film of the year. As iconic films of 1980, it certainly ranks higher than that, with Empire, Airplane, The Shining and Caddyshack.
First "official" SNL movie. "SNL Presents: Mondo Video" was a 1979 TV movie, but NBC refused to air it, so all references to SNL were dropped and it was released theatrically as its own thing. The new title was "Mr. Mike's Mondo Video." It came out a year before The Blues Brothers.
Watching it a few times i love Aretha's vocals and the other raw music and the very clever and funny editing like the nazi followed by John Lee hooker "how how how how".... really great trailer that makes its own great moments.
I like this teaser better than the main trailer, that is on the home releases... It's not as long and it gets the point across without revealing too much ; I love the abrupt way it ends... You don't need anything more than that :-)
What I don't like about the Blues Brothers movie and it's sequel is the unjust scenes in the story. Jake and Elwood don't deserve any treatment like that. I mean they have been hurt on the shoulder by some pushy nun, even if they did use bad language, criticized and insulted by people and relentlessly pursued by the police, and then finally caught and put in jail at the end. This is supposed to be a proper story, why can't it have a proper story for crying out loud? 😠😠😠

Actually it was a gas truck. But that part appeared on the extended cut of the movie
Wow...I am speechless...a fantastic rare find! Thank you!
you're doing the lords work
It's been a while, I'm going to have to watch it again. Love this movie...

40 years later, a 4K Blu-Ray was released.
Two months earlier, Colleen Clinkenbeard was born. 💖
The voice actress for one piece?

Yep. It’s also one of her favorite films she’s told me.
The lack of narration or establishing text almost makes it seem like a bunch of random scenes aimlessly cobbled together.
Kinda like that first BATMAN teaser in 1989.
The other longer BB trailer on disc is cut together the same way.
Jake and Elwood! Best Brothers man! I love those brothers dude! B) #BluesBrothersGang !!!

Sweet... seems like a few outtakes.

The scene was readded of the extended version of 2005.

@@CartoonCade Aerosol factory, I spent years in one 😢

heck yeah
Now THAT looks like a movie worth going to the theaters to see!!!!! They just don't make them like this anymore!!!
What is it about old movies that force people to end it with the equivalent of "new movies suck"
:55 deleted scene (not even in the extended version)

2:01 the video is looped to make his pause a little longer before cutting to black
This teaser trailer is very rare and this movie is now part of the Library of Congress National Film Registry.
Also, this teaser is ahead of it’s time too! I think it still holds up by modern standards.
