    Liz Kidder's latest video says that she will be doing the CT next year. I think that she was behind you on the AT in 2018. She and Luke got married on top of Katahdin.
    When I was a young soldier an old sergeant(WWII vet) gave us some wisdom "if you wake up alive the next morning, you didn't screw up too bad". Words that I have passed on to young people many times since. Your widow maker comment reminded me of that. He also had a morbid sense of humor(necessary for the stress). We were digging our foxholes for the night and he came by laughing and said "you realize that you're digging your own graves". We dug deeper.
    A nice compilation video. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

    • @AudreyAdventures

      I remember crossing paths with her once in the White Mountains, but didn't talk at all aside from maybe exchanging pleasantries, so I don't know her at all. Since she's already done the AT though, I'm sure the CT will be a real treat! And ha! Love that piece of wisdom! We had gone for miles and miles without any cover - those trees were the best we could do, and they seemed sturdy, so we risked it. We didn't want to be too exposed after the lightning scare. Luckily, no crazy winds came through in the night and they held!

    Just found your video series on the Colorado Trail and started with this one! You are delightful and fun to watch and I'm so grateful that you show so much of each section's terrain. I'm going to watch all your videos to prepare myself for my summer adventure and first thru-hike of the Colorado Trail. So surprised you had so much rain so late in the summer. Also, quick question, where did you get that awesome trucker cap with the Colorado logo, outline of mountains and trees? It's beautiful!

      Thank you so much! Good luck with your CT thru-hike this summer - it’s a great trail! And yeah it was a heavy monsoon year in Colorado hence all the rain. That hat is Locale brand and I got it from a store called Bliss on Pearl Street in Boulder.

    Excellent video! The scenery is amazing and you covered a lot of the details of the trail perfectly. I will say I would have liked to have seen a little more of the dark side of the trail, after being on some of it, I know I have experienced less than perfect days and I’m assuming you guys did too and I think it would’ve been an interesting contrast to see that a little more but in general, I loved the video. Great job.

    • @AudreyAdventures
      @AudreyAdventures  Год назад +2

      Thank you! I have a whole series from the trail which is more in depth/ day to day so you might catch a few more low moments in there. Certainly there were less fun moments, like going up big climbs when not feeling like it or getting stormed on or fighting with tramily about what to watch on TV in trail towns or dealing with a cold while hiking. But for me, what you see here is really what it was like for me. It was only a month and went by super fast, and I had a blast. I feel like some people get more angsty than others in the wilderness, and I am typically not one of the angsty people haha. Occasionally but not often haha. These two friends I went with are also not angsty. This is what I love and what I chose to do with a month of my PTO, and I really dug it!

      @@AudreyAdventures That’s great. I would love to check out some of your other videos. And thanks for this very detailed reply. It looks like you guys had a great time. I can’t wait to get back on the trail at some point in the near future. My niece and a friend of hers just started in Waterton Canyon today!
