I don't mind paying more for a premium strap, but US$200 for the Artem with deployment clasp is really getting up there.
Haha, yes, you can buy a decent watch for very close to if not that price
Never ever enter the world of omega or as they wished we said it as Oohhhh Me Gaaaaaa! There additional oem parts for all things straps, rubber diver straps, deployments , heck just a buckle. Makes the 200$ out the door seem less painful. Plus nothing about having well made hand made automatic watches is necessarily frugal.
@idahoman325 A well-made watch is expensive, but will last several lifetimes if taken care of. A strap, especially one made of a textile, is more or less a consumable.
I’ve had my Artem straps for well over 1 year and they’re amazing!! ❤️
nothing beats omega quality, style and innovation
The cordovan horween strap is definitely tempting. And, it comes in a range of lug widths! I wish they made one in brown.
We love it when you share good things Mr. Kotsa 🙂👍🏼
Hope you have continued success in 2022.
Cheers
Amazing the difference a top grade strap makes. Congrats! Just so perfect. 👍
The strap on the Squale x Whatawatches wears really nice to me. Super comfortable and supple. Definitely looking to get an Artem strap soon. Great video.
Thanks Peter. Nice straps. I have a previous artem strap which fits my 6.5 inch wrist. Can't believe they haven't made a slightly smaller strap this time around for those of us between 6 and 7 inch wrists. Something around 120/70mm Maybe it will come later. Fingers crossed.
I was thinking about my watch rotation recently, and realised that 4 of the 5 watches I wore most often in 2021 were ones on which I had changed the strap. Strap choice, for aesthetics and comfort, is a crucial part of our hobby. Thanks for another interesting vid.
Thanks for sharing Steve and you're spot on mate 👍
Cheers
I'm an Erika's Original MN fan... I have three, and will have more. Like Artem, the Erika's MN straps aren't cheap, but they are worth every penny.
G'day Pete I recently came to enjoy a similar style of strap with the longer section of the strap tucked underneath the clasp on an Oris watch and its so supremely comfortable and easy to use!
Makes such huge difference to the enjoyment of a timepiece for sure 👍
Wow..it looks so good on the Railmaster! Perfect!
Appreciate your review! I've been looking for other options for straps lately and haven't come across Artem yet. Will definitely check them out shortly. Congrats on hitting 25k subs!
Cheers
Been wearing an Artem about a month now, nothing compares.
Just ordered an Artem setup for my 2015 PO. Cant wait!
Leather - Colareb
Sailcloth - Artem
Nato - Phenomenato
Rubber - Tropic
Do Phenomenato NATOs have solid buckles? A NATO with a spring bar buckle is NOT a NATO...
Beautiful looking straps. I would have to agree, likely the best straps around, period.
Would love to try the Artem straps on a few watches, but they need to offer the straps for deployant clasps in 22mm also (currently only offered in 20mm), and need to offer the tang/buckle straps in all 3 lengths for the other lugwidths besides 22mm (currently offer 3 lengths for 20mm straps but only 1 length for all other lug widths).
Am looking for a new sail cloth strap, so great timing Peter.
That Railmaster looks great on that strap too.👍
I bought a few of the ali express rubber you recomended and they are brilliant, might have to check out one of those vintage leathers now!
"If you like watches..youre gonna like these straps" xD that made me smile...i like watches all right lol.gonna check them out, especially that squale one,it looks class
I have been looking for a black strap for a black dive watch and they look as good as you are going to get
Hi Pete yes I must get into changing out a few straps appreciate your reviews here
Makes a world of difference to your relationship with your watches John...👍
Cheers mate
Love the Artem Strap, I purchased a Omega AT with this style of strap / clasp. The strap had almost as much to do with my choice as the watch. At $201. for strap and clasp compared to Omega, that's a bargain, I paid $250. just for an extra Omega Strap.
For Shell Cordovan straps have a look at The House of Straps from Singapore. I'm expecting mine this coming week, they really look good.
I bought the strap based on the review. I agree it’s a good strap. I would warn others about what you have mentioned about the diameter/length. I have a 7.25in (18.4cm) wrist and I have the strap adjusted to the last hole. I wish it would have the adjustable deployment clasp like in Formex Field.
Love my Artem strap.
Nice work as usual Peter! I need to try theses
Cheers Stephen
Lots of controversy around the whole deployant strap. I love the idea of them though and it looks phenomenal. Sailcloth as well - I've seen quite a few opinions that they're rugged but aren't especially refined. Looks like I may give this a try for my Oris - I'm very impressed by what I'm seeing - enough to take the leap.
I think the beauty of the show here is that Squale. Wow 😍
Artem straps are amazing!
Yep I've purchased two so far. The real deal.
The search for a great strap is almost as fun as the hunt for the next watch. It’s even better when a strap is so good that it brings new life to a current piece in the collection (I think your channel taught me that 😉)
I am searching for a solid pre-owned Speedy for 2022, and this newest Artem would make the eventual find better than new.
The comfort of the Horween vintage style straps has to be experienced 1st hand, amazing what they offer for the price.
I am sure you will find a very nice Speedy this year bro, make sure condition is key (as well as box papers) 👍👍
Bets of luck
@@PeterKotsa thank you, as always, for your guidance. Patience and my desire to learn will be welcome partners on this journey.
Got to agree with you on the Artem Straps, they really are amazing and super good quality even when compared to OEM straps. Great video man 👍
cheers
Fully agree with Artem straps! I picked up a 22mm and one of their clasps a while back and no other sailcloths even comes close. Will be ordering one of their loopless straps following this video.
You won’t be disappointed 👍
Artem arrived in the mail today, feels very premium.
Hello! Another great video, I would also point you towards Nomad Watch Works Horween Chromexcel straps, they're easily my favorite and only run ~$40US.
So comfortable & affordable. Cheers, Peter!
Cheers Todd
Hi Peter. These straps do look top notch. Thank you for clarifying sizing as my wrist is a tad smaller than yours at 6.75in. No doubt a strap will make or break the wearing experience of any watch, and having properly designed, high quality and comfortable straps is the way to go. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend mate.
My pleasure Rafa..
I have a suggestion, drop Artem an email and alls them if they will be supplying a shorter Tongue section for his watch..👍
Cheers brother
@@PeterKotsa Thank you Peter, I had not thought of that, and if possible that would be brilliant. Thank you again for your suggestion. Have a wonderful Sunday. Best.
That Railmaster looks really nice indoors
I just wish their clasps had micro adjustments like Formex.
That squale is gorgeous
Should fit well my Orient Mako 40
I like both of the straps. They both have their place for dress or casual. I really like the deployant strap myself. The horween strap is very nice but with that shiny finish it looks like it may scratch easily? Enjoyed the video Pete!
Cheers Blane
PS, you do realise you won a watch yeah?..in the 5 watch giveaway
Check my community tab and drop me an email 😊🎉
Congrats mate
@@PeterKotsa Peter! love your channel. ordered 2 artems
Artum is best in the business , not sure I love the redesign as I love my version .
Great video Peter...you have great taste!
Thank you kindly Scott, cheers
The radius on the deployment clasp is very tight, in my opinion this will only be comfortable on a very slim wrist. Compare it with an Omega and you will see what I mean.
I just installed this new Artem Sailcloth strap in 18mm and its the Perfect strap for a divers watch because Artem gave me the option for $13 more to install fat spring bars which no other watch strap store provides. Although Artems fat spring bar ends measure only .6mm I was able to slip in my own fat spring bars with a wider .9mm end which fits a lot more firmly in the case lugs keeping the strap tight in the case. Sadly I just went to order another Artem strap and this fat spring bar option is no longer available...
My favourite for leather is Bulang and Sons, and JPM who make many of their straps.... for Nato it's Omega
Great straps. The icing on the cake would be if it could introduce some more colour variations.
That would be nice...
If only they made budget friendly straps that would fit smaller wrists :)
Great stuff mate.just found out I have a reaction to rubber and silicone straps so I am on the lookout for something new.🤺
My suggestion Mal is that if you have a reaction to rubber and silicon, you need to send ALL of those watches to me and you will be healed of any adverse symptoms 🙏
Cheers mate😎😂😂
Why didn't I think off that.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What are they both like in our summer sun mate.
Picturing myself drinking beer with a fishing rod in my hand wearing my Bunnings hat sweating my ring off.
Would you recommend either for such situations…?
The Artem for summer
That leather is really for cooler days so you don’t sweat
Enjoy the fishing bro 😎
I have the Artem RM style. Do you know if you can set up with the strap tucked in like you do in this video?
I don't think you can with the RM, you need the loopless, its a different length and setup altogether
will they be making these new Artem straps in 21 mm?
I suppose so, drop them an email and double check
Honestly, we need more content about straps. I don't get it why such a huge part of the watch is usually not so well reviewed
Check out my playlist on straps..👍
Is the PVD coated clasp closer to a black or a gunmetal gray? I’ve been searching high and low for a gunmetal clasp and haven’t been able to find one anywhere-could this be it?!?
Its a sheen black, not matt, not gloss an in between black 👍
@@PeterKotsa Thanks!
I completely agree, Peter! Artem sailcloth and Fluco Shell Cordovan are my go to straps. High quality and extremely comfortable.
Edit: I also have to add that the smell of new Shell Cordovan is amazing.
I know, I spent more time sniffing my strap than wearing it 😂👍
I don't own a watch that's worthy of those straps, i'm going to have to step my game up ;)
Do you think it work on the Railmaster with a 6.5 inch wrist?
it will sit a little loose IMO
Maybe email Artem and ask if they are making a "shorter: tongue length for this..that will work 👍👍
@@PeterKotsa Thanks for the tip. I've checking out the silver Railmaster for a while now but wasn't sure. The photos all make the lume look orange. Your photography is excellent. You really show us the visual range of this watch. Your commentaries are the really good as well. You are one of the very best in the watch You Tube world.
@@PeterKotsa Thanks Peter... Jomashop has a few of them now. $3,600. You're video quality is outstanding! No one seems to be able to show the Railmaster properly.
I was recently considering the loop-less Artem sailcloth strap. Woah.. about $200 with the nice Omega style clasp. I'm down for a quality strap if it truly is worth the price.
However, I just have to know, are these straps truly water resistant? I WILL be getting them seriously wet and if I'm going to spend this kind of money, I need to know they won't get ruined by water.
I've seen many sailcloth straps, a lot have leather backing and assuming the interior from which the sailcloth is wrapped and stitched upon is also leather. It never made sense to me to have a water resistant material ONLY on the outside.. I mean if it's going to get wet, the water will undoubtedly get to the leather underside.. probably also through the holes for the size adjustment. I feel it's false advertising to state such straps are usable in water when essentially they aren't because the leather will likely get ruined.
The only kind of sailcloth straps that I believe are truly water resistant are the fee that are wrapped and stitched in sailcloth all the way around, including the backside that's against your skin. They can be had for significantly less than the Artem. Just interested to know if the Artem straps are truly up to the wet task or not.
Previous reviews of the earlier Artem strap, which is still available, indicate that it is made of proprietary synthetic materials, and contains no leather. It is not actually made of sailcloth, but a proprietary material that looks like sailcloth, but is more flexible.
I can't see any reason that one couldn't use their deployant clasp on either the new or the old style Artem strap. The old style comes in three lengths for 20mm lugs, IIRC. Artem previously sold their deployant clasps as a separate add on item. These clasps are around $70. One must consider that these are luxury items meant to compete with an OEM watch strap from a major Swiss brand which lists for $400, and is difficult to source.
The target market for these watch straps would be yachtsmen and sailors, and those who wish they were. Are they suitable for salt water divers? I have not read any reviews by anyone who has used these straps for that purpose, yet. The founders of Artem are watch enthusiasts. If you reach out to them, they are likely to respond; particularly as you have a youtube channel with top notch photography.
@@ivermec-tin666 thanks for sharing your insight. Maybe I should just ask Artem.
Looks premium, and of course I believe you it feels premium... but this clasp mechanism is thick.
Premium is the word for sure 👍
I feel like 200 bucks for an aftermarket watch strap is a little pricey. You can almost buy a whole other watch.
@@zarphex I agree, however after several years of usage and the strap still looks almost "As NEW," you soon realise this was a great investment 👍
Cheers
I've wanted to try these straps but they don't make them long enough.
How big is your wrist again?
All things compared prices only wise is now such a relatively open concept. Most watch wearers would cringe at additional funds going into an already purchased pieces. The watch freaks won't blink twice at 200 with deployment combo is Okay ish. Lol
Top quality indeed.
200$ for sailcloth strap ? There is no way... I would rather pay that for a hand made strap from some local guy.
This must be a paid advert. I bought an Artem strap a year ago and they're still as stiff as hell. They were not soft.
No 22 mm or 21s 😏
Oofff $200!!! Yeah nah. Can't do it.
" once slide in now I can find my hole "
hmmm odd how this quote could be used more often then at first blush 😊 ☺️ 😳
$300 for the hydroflex with a deployant. I'm following the wrong channel.
αααααχ!!!! Θα μας τρελάνει ο Peter, τ' ακούς Stavros; 200 $ για ένα λουράκι... μάζευε ελιές εσύ και βαμβάκια εγώ, να τους κάνουμε μάγκες🤑
Hahaha 😝😂😂😂😂
I'm pretty sure this is a paid promotion
The straps were given to me for free, apart from that no other financial benefit
Cheers
What's your day job a used car salesman.
Professional photographer of 30+ years
But now that you've thrown used car salesman in the mix, I might give that a crack next
Stop wasting time and find yourself a vintage tropic star strap, soo comfortable, you can thank me later
The second strap honestly looks cheap and garbage. Therefore it doesn't matter how good it is to me anyway.
Overpriced.
