    Really glad to see someone who can reach more people than myself to talk about the importance of silica/silicon. Been telling people for years to amend their soil with food grade diatomaceous earth for silica and getting side eye but the ones that actually did it were blown away. Super excited to try out this product and see how it compares to the DE. Keep up the hard work man. Always love the content and I appreciate what you do for the community. ✌️🤙🤘💪
    Also, I use Harris Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth which is 90% amorphous silica derived from fossilized fresh water diatoms (algae fossils). It's great stuff and safe around kids and pets. I still wouldn't want to breathe it in because it can irritate your lungs for a bit after use if you breathe a lot in at once.
    The best thing about silica aside from helping you regulate nutrient cycles, heavy metals, and increasing vigor/turgor is how effective it is at reducing, treating, and even preventing heat stress.
    Here in CA outdoor grows can face days or weeks of 100+ temperatures in a row and I've personally experimented with DE at 15% soil volume to see if it helped.
    I put 7.5 gallons of DE into 42.5 gallons of soil and planted in it. The control had no added silica. The plants with DE were incredibly heat and drought resistant compared to the ones without. DE plants in 5 gallon pots only needed water every 2-3 days. Plants without DE needed water daily, some two to three times daily. The DE plants didn't wilt nearly as much and kept more foliage. The plants without DE wilted and fell straight over and lost foliage. It's great stuff and can definitely help people with outdoor grows or desert area grows especially when growing cultivars that are already heat resistant like equatorial sativas etc...

    • @sum88brit
      @sum88brit 2 года назад +4

      So if you add DE to your soil it helps the plants too?

    • @mdbuds277
      @mdbuds277 2 года назад +4

      @@sum88brit yes. At least the type I get. Harris DE that I use is considered biogenic silica which is also known as opal, biogenic opal, or amorphous opaline silica. It's a naturally occurring form of silica dioxide created by plytoplankton from water soluble monosilicic acid they use to form "glass houses" to protect themselves. Biogenic opal a (biogenic opal found in plants) is the most soluble in water and will also help retain water in soil. Its solubility and precipitation rate also increases with temperature so when you water on hot days your plants will actually take up more of the silica that they need when available in the soil. It's amazing stuff man.

      @@mdbuds277 I wish I seen this comment before I asked in comment above 😆. I been using DE for pest and silica for 3 years , same brand you use and my question was is that enough silica? And wow it works for bugs to. And I spray jadam sulfur and wetting agent for foliage bug control

    • @mdbuds277
      @mdbuds277 2 года назад +5

      @@coolbreeze8572 you can use as much as 2 parts DE to 4 parts soil but when I tested it I wanted to see how little you could actually use to see a benefit and that 15% mark was the sweet spot I found.

    B.A.S...? What happened with RecycleSil? That was, by far, the best Silica supplement (99% Biogenic Silica) I've ever used, by a large margin, and I was purchasing it from your company. Now it's like it never existed, as every other type of Silica was mentioned in the video, but not The best you've had..?
    I actually ordered some from Sio-Tex, who produces it, last time. It cost me more than you charged, but it's so incredible and requires so little, I didn't have a problem with the price.
    What happened to this great product you distributed, and maybe still do, but since you didn't mention it at all when talking about Silica products, I'm guessing you don't distribute this greatest Silica I've ever found?
    Love you guys and all you offer that others often don't have. You're one of a kind, in this Sea of products out there. Always great advice, as well!
    What happened with RecycleSil?👍💯✌️
    Edit: A year later now, and I see Sio-Tex, who created and sold this product, isn't in business anymore..?! Possibly because it was around for almost a decade with little advertisement.
    I think word got around when BAS customers had incredible results..?! Stems never wider than a Sharpie pen, were suddenly the diameter of an industrial broomstick! Biggest difference I've had with one product!
    Now, I've tried a few different Silicic Acid products. The expensive, 0.5ml/gallon rate, "top of the line" products, and VPS Structure, a Colloidal Silica.
    None of these have come close to RecycleSil. And it was around $30/lb, 1/8 tsp per gallon of water. It was 99% Biogenic Silica, which must be different from Amorphous Silica, like in DE Silica, which wasn't noticable, at all.
    Too bad you guys/someone else, couldn't get this recycled Rice Hull's technology to create this incredible product that otherwise goes to waste..?! I'd pay double the price for that! Just an incredible product, and from a waste product.
    I'm going to try some Montana Grow, and see how it goes. I'm hoping for great outcomes. Better than Silicic Acid (Ortho/Mono. Same thing). RecycleSil really set the bar high!
    My dream is that you'll be able to get this tech that's no longer being used (maybe for a great deal..?!), as it seems they're marketing was terrible.
    No response ever from you..?! Maybe you are working on this at BAS..?! Seems simple, and exactly what you stand for! But maybe there were other problems with this "Super Silica". Or in taking over from the manufacturer..?!
    Forgive my rambling, please! Id love to hear what you know about it's sad demise, and if you looked into "taking this tech off their hands", etc..?! The only BAS mystery I've never heard anything about..?!
    PS- Love the Craft Blend, especially. Thanks Jeremy!

    This video, along w the data dump all across the web such as Dr Bruce's NASA study info, convinced me this was the optimum product. I ordered a 100 lb bag immediately direct. it is HANDS DOWN the most useful, highly valued additive I have ever purchased and owned aside from Calcium Hydroxide for SPS coral prop. This is arguably the BEST mushroom TEK developer in the world speaking, and arguably one of the best cultivators in flora as well. Thanks Sirs. you CRUSHED it hard w this one and major Props to OG: you didnt have to keep that company going I know you passed on far more lucrative opportunities but you did a major service to humanity and have exposed the secret to food security for the masses: tapping into silica reserves as 80% of the earth's crust. people: even sand can be a source. this is the BEST source I have seen for soil, of course monosilic acids hydro are GREAT too but this is better. more even, sustained release controlled by fungi at mathematical perfection. Thanks a million for humanity, for eternity.

Thanks for what you do! They should honestly offer gardening as an elective in school, and you should be there syllabus behind it. Anyway I have a question and I’m hoping you can help. What are your thoughts on a 6/2 light schedule? Do you have any experience with this? Or maybe your personal thoughts? I’m running photos. And I only ask because I’m having serious temperature issues in my 5 x 5. I have a 6 inch AC infinity exhaust, with a 4 inch AC infinity pumping air in, one small fan on my light, and one circle circulation fan Midway hanging. And it’s still hitting 86 to 90° in my tent. I’m running a California Lightworks solarextreme 500. And it just puts off a lot of heat. And unfortunately due to funds I cannot afford a portable AC unit or lowering my temp in my house. My electric bill is already $200 a month and I can barely make that. Thanks Jeremy any input would help… oh yeah, and i live in Az and its supposed to be 103 all this week… :( so yeah

I read about Diatomaceous earth and decided to try it out, so I got a good size container of food grade (which I thought meant it had been tested for things like heavy metals to be used that way, not necessarily true) and dusted my plants pretty heavy because it was Florida and pests are bad. Well it rained of course and washed it right into the soil pretty fast, so I reapplied. Long story short that year was phenomenal compared to others and eventually heard about silica in it helping but it was like a wives tale back then and hard to find good info on it. Powersi is monosilicic acid therefore immediately available. Montana grow si is si. Si is not plant available. When the rhizosphere breaks down Montana grow si it transforms into monosilicic acid and is then plant available. Depending on the natural si source it will take weeks or months to become available. Power si has no time lag and can be foliar fed but montana grow is much more affordable. There's no real testing but probably best practice is use a monosilcic acid for first few weeks or month and amend montana grow every transplant. After the first month montana grow should be giving all the si needed. If you have low ph you can use a product like pro-tekt to raise ph and supply si simultaneously. It will still take weeks or months to convert so probably still use monosilicic acid to start with. Imho🍻

    Whats up with the autoflowers this week? Has the 18/6 group caught up with the 12/12 plants? It will be interesting to see if they finish together as well as comparing yield and quality.

    I get my extra plant available silica from oats soaked for 24hrs . My soil is a living soil mix of good clay, great compost, peat, granite rockdust, seaweed and worm castings , plus extra earation from potting grit instead of perlite.
    Also I layed the 15g fabric pot in the Leighton Morrison soil horizons system

      @Nick Phelan I live in the west of Ireland . I used clay I knew would not have been sprayed with chemicals.
      For cannabis it's main problem is poor drainage. I ammended with compost peat and potting sand to make it drain better

      No laws have changed here and I haven't cared for over 20 years . But growing is complicated ✌️ I ran pineapple express aut the run before and I'm going to be starting a something/skittles auto next

    Jeremy, what was the video Coot made you watch about rocks and the beginning of aminos and life? You mentioned it briefly. This is great content! The whole boron to silicon to calcium progression answers so many questions. Now I know how all that calcium becomes available. I grow in the Take and Bake (4th cycle). It has the rice hulls and basalt. I top dress with Craft Blend. Thanks again! Grow well my friend. DB da OG

      Thank you! It just so happens, I just finished rewatching this episode. I am getting ready for my next run. A mono crop from my keeper from my last run. I got a 5 lbs size of the MG. Going to do a side by side. I will totally document it on IG. I am excited to add this to my living soil. Take And Bake going into my fifth run in 15 gallon containers. Again, thanks for the link. Can’t wait to dive in. @DB_da_OG ✌️

      I said I couldn’t wait. Just finished watching it. Took notes galore. Definitely am going to watch a few more times. I’m a geek. So much interesting info. From the six stages of Earth to the many scientists, Miller, Yuri, Hazen and Blake. My favorite line, “Rocks created life. Life creates rocks.” Oysters create rocks. Trilobites created rocks 540 million years ago. Wow! Thank you again for sharing. And let Coot know you passed on the knowledge he shared a while back. I will definitely pass this on to others. 🙏🏻 DB

    I love this product so far, but I am trying to get a better idea of how much I should use. I mixed my own Super/living soil and I was wondering how much of the silica per gallon of psoil is recommended?

    For My first grow I foliage sprayed in on. That was big mistake almost threw the “grrit” weed result away. It washed off With water. The buds were gravel hard. It Taste like nasty grit! Next I learned to add minute quantities to water and nutrient mixes to solidify the cell walls for a solid dense bud at cure time. I expect flushing was imperative to do well. It will make yer plant stress resistant I think. This is silica we speak of.

    If the craft blend already has silica, should we still add more straight silica when transplanting like you would use great white or roots wise?

    Question is there anyway you would be able to do a grow that shows the effects of deficiencies/toxicity..what too much/little N.P.K looks like and too much/little micronutrients look like and how to fix the issues using BUILDASOIL products. I doubt you will see this yet alone read this but in the slight chance you do..I feel this would be very beneficial for the newbies like myself and a good refresher for everyone.

    I feel like PowerSi is the 800 lb gorilla in the room. Can you please give your feedback on that product? From what I've seen and heard, PowerSi works wl for both hydro and soil applications. Can you please explain why or why not PowerSI would fit into the living soil regimen? Thank you for all the great content!

    I have a couple bottles of silicium and Mammoth Silica 🦣 as well as an earthbox. Can I mix some water and silica and poor this down the tube for a watering? Will this be harmful to any beneficial insects and or the operation of the earthbox? Thank you for your time.

    How would using MG to root clones work? For example, I took some really small clones from a plant I was sending to a friend. They are not doing well, as I assumed, but would adding a bit to the puck water have helped?

    HEY JEREMY, CAN I GET ANY BENEFITS IF USING SILICON IN COCO COIR WITH HYDRO NUTRIENTS? IT SEEMS LIKE YOU COULD GET SOME BENEFITS.BUT IT ALSO SEEMS LIKE SOME OF IT WOULD WASH OUT ON A DRAIN TO WASTE STYLE GROW. I ALSO DO OUTDOOR THIS TIME OF YEAR (ORGANIC) AND I PLAN ON TRYING SOME OUT THIS SEASON.

    Hey, so with the silica Montana grow and rice hulls in the soil, is there a such thing as too much silica?
