  • After deciding to switch all of my camo over to Kuiu, the Venture 2300 day pack really caught my attention! As a hunter, especially a saddle hunter, it is hard to find a backpack to suit your specific hunting style since every hunter has different needs and preferences than the next.
    In this video I am seeing this pack in person for the first time. I do an complete overview and give my first impressions.
    If you are interested in checking out this pack, go to:
    www.kuiu.com/products/venture...
    There will be a Pt:2 that will show what it looks like packed out and ready to hunt, and I will give an update on how I think this pack will work for me.
    I will also do a Pt:3 after a few hunts as a final assessment on whether or not it is a suitable pack for my hunting style.
    Thank you guys so much for watching, don't forget to like this video, and please subscribe/follow Rob'z Man Cave on RUclips, Facebook, and Instagram. (Links to all below)

    I’ve used the side pockets where you can put water bottles for a small tri fold chair and a tripod. Worked perfect.

      I didn’t like the pockets for a water bottle, they tend to fall out, or be really loose. But I have used it for camera arms, and other stuff like that and it works great.

    The second set of loops on the bottom of the pack are for attaching the gun or bow holder attachment. So you can still utilize the 2 bottom "bed roll" style buckles AND still run the gun/bow butt holder.

      That make’s perfect sense!! Don’t know why I didn’t realize that! Thank you!!

    Subbed. Really looking forward to the follow up after the season. I currently have the 2300 pro bag and suspension. Because I already had the 5200 for elk. But having the full frame pack suspension interferes with my saddle. I like to wear my saddle in and also climb with my pack on my back. I'm really interested in this pack because I can take the waist belt off if I want to. Plus I'm thinking of ordering the medium size so that it sits even higher up on my back. I hunt private land as much as I hunt public. I'm looking for a bag that can do both. I've kinda made up my mind that I want to give up the meat shelf. I only hunt public for big bucks. I get my meat off private. And I'm archery hunting because rifle is not allowed. Therefore after most shots I give the deer an hour or so before I start tracking so I can make my way back to my truck and/or wait for friends to come help. In that case I can have a cart. My only concerns are the noise factor and the looseness of the bag. I really don't fiddle much with my pack once I'm up in the stand tho. When I strap my bow or my sticks to the back of my pro 2300 when I'm walking in the bag sways back and forth and is kinda annoying and also makes some noise. I'm wondering if this bag is a little more sturdy in that aspect. Looking forward to your input after a season of using it

      Just realized I already replied to you on IG, hope you sub’d there and FB too! 😉 thanks for your support! Wanted to post the reply here too, with some added info.
      I love it! I don’t pack out meat with it, but it holds all my stuff with room to spare inside. Camera arm, cameras(3 GoPros with attachments{will be getting a better camera soon 😂}), ozone generator, calls, hydration bladder, dry socks, limb saw, pistol, and snacks on the inside. Outer layer, climbing stick(ultimate one stick with ultimate platform and ultimate lower step), bow or rifle, and Kuiu pro bino harness with rangefinder pouch and cellphone holder strapped to the outside. Head lamp in left belt pocket, and rechargeable hand warmers in the right belt pocket. It all cinches down tight, no flopping around, and the pack distributes weight and stays put very well! The farthest I walk in is about 1500 yards, but usually not going more than 750 yards. When I’m in the tree I hang it where the belt is below my knees and buckle the belt around the tree. I can access every pocket while it hangs. The only thing I don’t like is the vertical pocket in the front. I wish they would have put the zipper horizontally at the top of the compartment, it would be more useful. I also bought the “Pack accessory pouch” and clipped it inside the pack to give extra organizing space for calls etc. Also, when I first got it, the fabric was kinda loud. But after washing it twice back to back and using it so far this season, it has quietened down a lot! I dont climb with it on my back, I pull it up with my rappel rope with everything strapped to the pack, OR I will pull the pack up with rappel rope and bow with dynaglide pull up line. I also walk in wearing my saddle, and the saddle and pack don’t interfere with each other while wearing, but sometimes snags when taking the pack off. I do have the large pack, so I think that the medium would eliminate that.
      I’ll be doing a follow up video very soon!

    Hey Rob, Have you sent the pack through the wash a few times? Did it help with noise? Seems like the material is not very quiet. thoughts?

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Год назад

      I have only sent it through once, and it did quieten it down a lot. I have been practicing climbing with it so I’m going to run it one more time before opener and I think it will be just fine. I’m glad, because I love this pack

    I would’ve liked to of seen the hard frame come out of the bag and can the pack be used comfortably without the back frame? in your opinion how much meat did that bag handle for weight? Are there inside straps that you can use the strap down the weight distribution of de boned game?

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Год назад +1

      I took the frame out to wash it, and found out that it was a big mistake. I had no problem putting the frame back in before I washed it, but after I washed it, I almost couldn’t get it back in. So I washed it again with the frame inside and now it is back to normal. After 2 washes the fabric sound was reduced dramatically! Personally, I prefer the frame since it makes it easier to access contents one handed without fighting the pack. It could definitely be used without it though.
      I have not used the pack to haul meat, and never intended to. BUT I have loaded it down with about 30lb of camera gear, saws, ropes, drinks, snacks, ozone generator, etc. and it handles it fine.
      If I were to haul meat I would definitely attach it to the outside of the pack. There are attachment points at the top, sides, and bottom for additional lashing. There are also the same type of attachment points inside the pack meant for a the hydration pack, but could be used for whatever.
      For what it’s worth. Kuiu generally designs around western hunting or/mountain terrain, and I am on the east coast. So I am not using this pack like a lot of their target hunters would. But I intend to in the future. That is primarily why I started buying kuiu, besides the layering system

    How did you wash this to make it softer and quieter?

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  7 месяцев назад

      I just put it in the washing machine and put it on warm water with regular agitation. Then air dry it, and do it again. I do not recommend putting it in the dryer, and do not take out the frame backer. It will not fit when it dries 😂

    What pattern is that? I’m looking at getting the divide 3000 but can’t decide on if I want a pattern or a solid color

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Год назад

      It is the Valo pattern. I use this pattern all season. Blends great in all scenarios, at least in the Georgia pines and hardwood bottoms.
