This posting just saved me some money. The P2135 code and severe limp mode happened to me about 4 days ago. I was able to get the computer to do a reset by pulling off the road and turning the 2011 Silverado off for about 3 minutes. Restarted and it ran fine to get me home (about 50 miles) The check engine light was on but it ran fine. My repair was covered by the dealer. My thanks to the Car Doctor.
First class, not taking advantage of a customer and letting them get it handled by the dealer. Some shops would just take advantage of a customer and bill them for the repair. That's what makes the Car Doctor stand out. Honesty and Integrity.
They really were super happy. If it was a $100 fix it would have been just as easy to do it here and save them the time and hassle. Hope the channel is going good for you. Blessings.
You know what that's a really good idea. That would make for a far more interesting video. This just happens to be one of those deals where if it has that code it gets free sensors so my default response is to kick it out the door and get on to making money. But that doesn't always make for the best videos. I need to force myself to show more tests and data for the purpose of making more educational and interesting content. Thanks for your support!
I understand... no disrespect to video was intended. It was / is of great info to the public! I myself always miss an opportunity to catch something on tape / film... in the midst of editing a video right now, where I thought I saved a "bad waveform", but didn't. =( BTW, a German RUclipsr will be up in Anchorage in February... if you run into a tall German female (looking lost), tell her Thomas says hi!
Oh wow, I hope you have her stop by for a visit. And no offense taken to the feedback. I really appreciate it and want to make better vids. I loose so much footage I thought I captured. Hate that.
Thats smashing, a free repair :-D I hope you told him to say "throttle sensor only, no other repairs", we know what dealers are like for inventing problems.
Ohh i see, with this daft google system i get everyones comments, so i tend to ignore anyone i think could be replying to the video maker. LOL yes sticky valves, they dont do themselves any favours by pulling crap like that on customers. So your two timing us with a different channels fans LOL :-D
I never seen anything wrong with just using a cable . Nice of you to let him know about the recall . Be funny if it came back from the dealer with sticky valves . lol
Everyone but me. Haha. It will come back around I'm sure. They are a huge company just down the street from us past the railroad tracks. Have a good weekend buddy!
Nice Tim! I wonder how many shops out there would check to see if something was covered under a recall instead of just doing the repair and charging for it. Good info!
I actually did one of these when they first began recalls and I didn't know about it till someone said something. Theee are plenty of other models with similar throttle body issues that aren't covered and I just throw a new throttle body on them. It's a good reminder to always check first. www.recalls.gov/nhtsa.html
05 Tahoe, -25F weather now, tahoe threw engine light and “reduced power”. Limped home code reads P2135. Went to drive it lights gone and it drives fine, should I just replace the throttle position sensor?
Hey have a 2000 GMC 1500 5.3 4wd. check engine light came on last night. It's throwing codes: P0332, P0719, C0236, C0265, C0281. Just got my truck back from having trans and rear-end work done a few days ago.
I feel bad I never get the time to catch up with all you great folks work. I'm sure it would help me make better vids by picking up hints from seasoned pros like yourself. But like you I figure it will slow down later this winter and I can catch up. Blessings to you and the family.
Now who pays for your time ? Tim . I get the " loyal " customer and all but what you had never seen this customer. I think I know your answer. Good word and good videos.
When they picked it up to take to the dealer my wife said they were super appreciative. I know that doesn't pay the bills but it feels good. Also I'm sure we will see them again soon since they are a huge business just down the street. I like your thought provoking insights. You take care.
Another Great Video From Great White North. Thanks Tim for showing us this. I too with one of the other subscribers would like to know more about IdentiFix so I'm heading that way. Hope they allow us shadetree mech's to get some of that really kool noggin type info. -- Mahalo's Bruddah and you too have a great weekend. I heard that since trump is in the big white bldg with all those rubber walled rooms that he has a scheduled a fly by your house and then over the garage. He's buying your lunch and in fact he's got it with him. He's bringing a kids meal for him and a big assed man burger for you. -- Just so you know, I think his kid's meal is true since he's got such pretty little baby girl mitts that can't fit on a real man sized meal. Stay healthy and have fun with your new friend.
Hahaha. I would love to share a kids meal or even a Big Mac with Trump. If he drops in I'll hitch a ride with him to your island for a snack of some deep fried spam for desert. You're a funny funny man. Blessings to you friend!
Blessings back to you! my wife also thinks I'm a funny guy. I know this because she laughs every time we are playing our special game of hide the wiggly.
The Car Doctor we had Silverado ambulances for a while but they just sucked through fuel so we went to Mercedes. The 4x4 system was much better in the Chev
Thanks Phil! It was short and to the point. Maybe help someone who has this code get some free repairs. Seems like the manufacturers don't want their throttle systems to act up and I can't blame them. Thanks for the visit.
An excellent video. Tim how do you find out if there are any recalls on your car or truck? Great video thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend my friend.
I have same code , same trouble with limp mode, but on a 2003 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L . Replaced Throttle body but still going into limp mode and still has 2135 code. Any ideas ?
Yes, I hate it when I find out after a repair that there was free coverage available. I like that feature in the identifix search that shows all relative results including any TSB or recall info. We didn't make any money off this repair but insured that our business neighbor down the street with over 300 employees will remember who to call the next time they have a repair need. Take care!
I have Mitchell Pro Demand and Sure Track and it gives me all the TSBs and Recalls also. There's nothing worse than working on a car and then go to the TSBs and find out either it's a free dealer fix, a known problem/solution, software update will fix it, etc and if I'd have gone there first I could have saved a lot of unnecessary work. I got burned also and now go there first without fail.
I sure miss Ondemand5. I went to identifix after the move to pro. I have access to suretrac with my scanner now I might check it out. Were you ever on the Ondemand5 site?
Why didn't you show where the throttle body was under the hood? A bunch of codes and diagnoses are useless to me. I have not found one engine that looks the same as mine. I was hoping you may have had it and watched your video. I lost 5 minutes of my life.

I appreciate that. I'm sure lots of other guys would have done the same. I'll sell them a water pump and intake manifold gasket job before long. Hehe
FYI- I commented under another channel name of mine by mistake. In case you wondered who DrD907 was. 😀
One of the top 5 best America’s mechanics. Thank you & God bless
Honest man Tim. Thats the problem with the world today. Too many honest people. LOL thanks for the video.
Don't you hate that. We need more bad people in this world. Haha
That's a retained customer right there. Cheers Tim 🍻
They really were super happy. If it was a $100 fix it would have been just as easy to do it here and save them the time and hassle. Hope the channel is going good for you. Blessings.
Would have been nice to see the 1 - 2 voltage sweeps on a scope... but saving the customer some money, will ensure that they will be back! =)

I told them to request they not check for sticky valves. Hehe

Hahaha, no kidding. Same dealership. I agree. Never felt comfortable with fly by wire. Sad to think that's how jets fly 😬
That was a good find. Everyone likes free repairs.
Everyone but me. Haha. It will come back around I'm sure. They are a huge company just down the street from us past the railroad tracks. Have a good weekend buddy!
Great video. My sensor is riveted onto the throttlebody. Can I drill the rivets out and replace with nuts and bolts of appropriate size?

Hey Paul, nice to see you here.
Thanks Paul. I should have dug deeper and hooked up the lab scope but I've been playing catch up for a while now. Hope your shop is staying busy!
We've been crazy busy. Some days to busy but it makes the time go faster. I'm sure it will slow down again.
I'm trying to get around to visit the sites I enjoy. Heading over to yours tomorrow to play catch up lol.

I had that code. Replaced the TPS and we'll see what happens this week.

Eric O just did a video on him doing this repair. I did one the other day as well.
Ill have to check that out. Was yours or Erics outside the warranty period?
Cheers Tim, nice info
Thanks mate! Ever work on one of these trucks?
DoctorD907 no they're not too common here.
I didn't think so. I bet you would get a lot of comments on it if you had one.

Good info Tim. Thanks!
Thanks buddy. Have you ever ran into this?
no I have not. But it is good know it is covered. Man I want to get that Indentafix but just cost too much.
Do you use a repair information service now?
Another good job, Thanks.
Thank you.
An excellent video. Tim how do you find out if there are any recalls on your car or truck? Great video thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend my friend.
Thanks my friend. I appreciate it very much. I hope you are having a blessed weekend.
Just ran the snow blower for two hours. About 20" of snow overnight. Fun fun fun.
I have same code , same trouble with limp mode, but on a 2003 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L . Replaced Throttle body but still going into limp mode and still has 2135 code. Any ideas ?

It was an easy vid. I have a good one I'm working on this weekend. Enjoy your day!

Checking TSBs saves the customer $$.

No just had ProDemand but I may try Identifix next.
I sure love Alaska .
Me too! I just got about two feet of snow in my driveway last night and it's still coming down. It's beautiful out there. Take care.
