@@TwoshedsGabby no they are always green and rusted. I usually clean them up with wire brush. I know thats a no no but they are steel so no damage to coin.
The thing about cleaning coins. If you are into expensive coins, you need to not do anything that will lower it's value. But if you collect for your enjoyment, and your not selling or trading, they are yours to do what you want with. If you want your coins to be cleaner, that's your business. I agree with trying to follow numismatic guides and suggestions for the most part. But you need to enjoy your hobby. So wire brush those steel pennies all you want. LoL I would too
Very nice!!! I went and cashed in my coin yesterday and got another bunch of boxes to do over the weekend. Funny you threw the clip of the halves in there, there were three boxes of halves sitting in the window yesterday, but I didn’t even bother lol. Hope you all had a merry Christmas! And if you saw what I wrote to you about my change findings, it wasn’t much lol. That other nickel box gave me a buffalo and a silver though. Also I’ve never found a 2009 copper either.
@@jasonsellon4270 anytime you get a silver and a buffalo out of a box, you've done pretty good... I see guys on RUclips still getting good silver in boxes of halves... I'm sure in the wrong place for that. I suspect not many of the 2009 copper pennies are getting out of the collector packages they came in.
@ I definitely agree with that! Maybe one day we will both be lucky enough to have found one, I did a box of halves a couple months ago and it was a lot of brand new 2023‘s, another thing that was coming across my mind was that I get so many mutilated pennies in my rolls, it’s wild to say the least, maybe something to do with a bigger metro area, who knows.
Isn't that frustrating? I hope it doesn't go on forever.... I see people on RUclips still finding good silver.... I wonder what the difference between those areas and our areas are?
Man that is a alot of boxes! I know you said you go to different banks at different states but i never leave my area and have a tough time finding change!
Are you going back and checking the zincs for errors? Some of those zincs could be worth hundreds of dollars. Take like the 1992 close AM. $750-$1000 circulated condition.
Hi Gabby! if i send you some new designs for a custom matt could you put all the information on them like your matts,i would love 10-20 custom matts, thank you AOA
@@jamessteffens8337 well Jim, separate them by years. You can look each one up to see how many were made, if you want you can look up to see if any of them have varieties that may be worth money. That takes a little more difficulty, and maybe a really good magnifying glass... Once you have an idea of what you have, you can decide if you want to sell them, or give them to a family member, or just arrange them and keep them for your enjoyment. Knowing what you have helps you not get cheated if you go to sell them
Well.. I am hoarding copper. I have over 500 pounds put away. But for 2025 I'm going to get some from sorting with my sorter for selling (and I'm calling that my bulk copper) but the other boxes from other states I'll hand sort.
@@claytonsimplot9554 I haven't yet .. but that is one of the things I'm looking for as I go through looking for the wheat pennies... It's pretty cool, and quite fast
Very cool! Yeah, it looks like that machine will be quite a time saver!
It will be... I'll get my bulk copper here in town, but I'll get plenty of boxes from other states for hand sorting.
Good on the wheats! I just found a 40 and 43 but nothing older!
I see on ebay people selling 1958-1982 rolls for $1.49 to $7.
Was the 43 in pretty good condition? I like those steel pennies.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I'll sell any by the roll or by the pound next year, but I do plan on selling some

You got some oldies, but some were pretty shabby. Keep on stacking that copper.
Yeah, a few were pretty bad, actually really bad. But the old ones were nice, and mine pounds of copper

I'm sorry at 83 I forget. I found 150 1970s pennies. I already did what you said, I separate all the S

Are you able to get boxes or rolls at your local bank? I'm just doing this to try to make it all more interesting.
@TwoshedsGabby just rolls most of the time. I have pulled a few boxes this year but it is difficult.
