My 90 year old grandpa invited me over one day because he was "ready" to clear out a garage. He told me to pick whatever I wanted and then followed me around for 30 minutes saying "except that." I left with nothing haha. My mom is the same way. I view it as a psycholigical disorder and it runs in our family a bit......probably why I love your videos😂. Merry Christmas
There's a serious risk his heirs are going to regard this entire hoard as a 100% burden and sell it all in a lump to the first guy who asks. At least Alex is getting thousands of video views out of it and his audience finds it interesting!
Alex, you are so gracious! That gentleman was having a wonderful time sharing what he loves with someone who really was interested! What a wonderful video! His niece and nephew should be documenting their uncle share his knowledge of all his things.
Saw his( seller) reflection in the glass ( looked similar to HANS 😂) . The guy didn’t really want to sell he just wanted to show case his stuff on your channel.
Definitely NOT Hans. Not the same voice nor house. This person has been collecting awhile. Hans home burnt down & he was living in a camping trailer for a bit.
There are people that are truly motivated to sell off their collections and willing to accept reasonable offers, and those that are more interested in just showing it off rather than selling. It was pretty obvious early on which category this guy falls into. It's frustrating to waste time on house calls like this, but it's part of the business.
Hmmm, I’d be extremely annoyed to have driven all that way. He had no intention whatsoever other than a good visit and showcasing his stuff. God bless you Alex and your patience.
…. But why going then? Family will sell it to him « someday « 😢 He would make good money NOW $$$ for his retirement instead Family’s will have to do the clearing out after them self!😅 Patience is a lot require!
It’s too bad he wasn’t willing to part with more items, but it was interesting to see his collection. I have a feeling his family whom he thinks will want some of the items, likely wont…
Alex's expression back in the car said it all. This was not a collection of a man who wants to downsize, more likely just be able to acquire even more. And seriously flinching at the handling of the scroll, old bible and other ancient items.
The best type of "collections" that someone like Alex can go through are the ones that a family member of a hoarder has inherited and doesn't know what to do with. It's why it's almost better just to buy the whole house. It's not Alex's first rodeo though and he's always very respectful when he meets people like this. At least you were able to share a video with your channel! 👍
Holy Cow ! I hope this guy's nephews are collectors if not they might just throw a lot of things in the trash without knowing there worth. So much to go through.
Oh my word. That gentleman is so knowledgeable and weirdly organized! I would love to know him as a friend he knows so much. Alex must have felt he had a glimpse of collectors heaven!!!
"It's time to sell" is a bit nuanced here! 😉 I know it's a delicate dance, but i can imagine this beïng so stressfull to let you come drive over 3 hours with "i got so much stuff" and then saying all of that WILL go to my nephew&niece because they will have to take it! Or sitting on a pile of good money in stuff they will never do anything with, while he could have very good food and care. I know it's about laying contacts as a first dooropener, but i hope these people accept the help eventually they need or care as much as i have the same respect as you for them. All the best from the Netherlands, to you & your family, enjoy! 🎄
I wonder if his nieces and nephews are even interested and will keep any of it? My cousins inherited their parents’ house and collections (not nearly as much or as interesting or valuable) and sold it all off.
@@Caareenkm6726 It seemed he was more interested in the social call as a collector for a lifetime, but forget that Alex has a business? Let's hope the guys family calls if there will be a real clearout of the home too..
@@shari5982 Had the same thoughts when the guy said "They will have to make a place"?! Seems like he is still in denial of not having a real museum ever and left with a messy home. Here you would have real problems if you left your neighbours looking at that for years. I think Alex can ask for definite answers about selling beforehand, after so many years dealing with so many cases and doing people more than good. He could have taken his normal modern car to that place without getting backpain! 👍🏻
Exactly. Even if he didn't buy much from this gentleman and didn't show us what he bought, this video made for some interesting viewing and will earn him some revenue. I actually found this far more interesting than when he did a bunch of videos his visits to antique stores in the US without buying anything.
Wow, what a collection and an astonishingly well-informed collector! His knowledge on such a vast array of historical items has been fascinating, even just in these small glimpses. I hope his niece and nephew are being well prepared to inherit this phenomenal and vast collection!
My goodness 😮 such an amazingly clean collection. Not only is he a collector.. He's an interior decorator as well. Amazing! Also may everyone's Yule be blessed and the new year be better than ever
Intelligent? Yes. Knowledgeable? Yes. Wise? *No.* Wisdom would dictate that he has far too much stuff for one man, his niece/nephew are unlikely to want -- or be able -- to keep all of it, and he should have struck a fair deal to sell off far more of it to Alex. Just my viewpoint. I've often wondered how we'd identify "coveteousness," as prohibited in the 10 Commandments, in today's day and age of some people seemingly being able to obtain/purchase anything they want. This right here, in my opinion, crosses the line into coveteousness. Nevertheless, it made for an interesting video, and he is certainly knowledgeable about his collection.
I feel like I learned more from this episode than I learned in history class lol wow what a collection and that collector knows everything about it all. Amazing..... Maybe one day he'll sell to you. But he loves every piece and it's story. Every piece is a memory of his life. I'm like this with my collection..
Well, you gave us good content out of this one. And I do believe you probably made that gentleman's year just for your willingness to share and listen to stories about his objects. Hope his niece/nephew watch this and remember you when
Quite honest, this was breath-taking hearing and seeing this, I was absolutely captivated at the edge of my seat.
