OK, I'm entirely more laid back than the usual RUclips creator. I don't get nearly as excited as I should to draw the normal RUclips audience. But I have to be me. I hunt for silver, and of course that's getting a little more difficult. So, now I also hoard copper. Copper will be going up in time and the copper pennies (cents) will soon start getting harder and harder to find in quantity. Besides, I love finding the old wheat pennies anyway. These older coins remind me of a time in American history that wasn't quite a chaotic as things are now. If you feel the same about any of this, please join me. Make some comments, and let's talk about it. I always try to return comments.

Halloween isn't celebrated like it was when I was a kid, but I consider that a good thing. I can remember going out trick or treating in costumes and literally visiting every house that had a light on, which was 95% of them, and getting candy. Then when I got older, we hooked up speakers and put them in our 2nd floor windows to play scary sounds and screams for the kids as they walked up to the door. It was a great time of pranking little kids and parents alike. However, as I recommitted myself to my Christian faith in my teens and then became very serious about making this received faith my own in my early 20s, I found celebrating or participating in Halloween far less appealing. I haven't even had trick or treaters even come to my door in probably 4 or 5 years, and I generally see very few kids out doing it. Most of the time, they are showing up at events (i.e. like my kid's Taekwondo class) where people are all dressed up handing out handfuls or bagfuls of candy from the trunk of their car and the like. I see that a lot more than I do the classic house-to-house stuff that I used to do when I was a kid. I personally don't like to give Halloween much attention, but we've never forbid our son from dressing up or going to any kind of event. He's never expressed a desire to go trick or treat, and we might have discouraged that, if he'd asked. He doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, unless you're talking about a love for chocolate milk, so he just doesn't eat a lot of candy anyway. Christmas has changed too, since I was a kid. It was all one or two things when I was a kid. 1) The birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. 2) A lot of Santa Clause & holiday cartoons (The Grinch, Charlie Brown, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph). I'm sure you know the classic ones that I'm talking about. Those are even rare today, to say nothing of the ornaments that you see around when you walk into one of the big box stores. All of the ornaments were related to movies, literally 100% of them. There were some Santa and reindeer things, but there was almost nothing related to Christ or Christianity more generally. After looking, I did end up finding a couple of cheapo creepo angels and a nativity type decoration, but that was it. It was really crazy. Personally, I don't even buy ornaments that are totally secuarlized. For example, we have a few Santa Clause ornaments, but they are all of him holding the baby Jesus, bowing in prayer at the side of the baby Jesus, and even a couple of Santa praying and reading the scriptures. We told our son when he was very young all about Santa Clause, and we warned him not to intentionally ruin other people's holidays by telling them what he knew. However, he was allowed to talk about it, if he was asked directly. Anyway, he's about to be 13 shortly, and he's told me that he's glad we didn't lie to him for several years when he was young, only to tell him something utterly different later. So far, he doesn't feel like he's lost anything by not participating in the popular culture's conception of Christmas. In any case, things have certainly changed from the 70s & 80s when I was growing up. My banks typically don't have candy at Halloween, but they do typically maintain a hot pot of coffee and fresh cookies throughout the morning. My son loves to go to the bank with me anytime his little Hulk bank gets filled up. Usually it's filled with mostly zinc pennies with some odd dimes and nickels, so he usually only gets between $12 to $15 when it turns it in. However, his favorite part of turning in the change is being able to snag a couple of chocolate chip cookies. It's funny, as he's not a huge cookie guy at home, but getting a couple of cookies at the bank seems to be right up his alley. Incidentally, he got $21.06 when he turned in his change last time, so he must have gotten a few quarters snuck in there somehow. He was happy anyway. Now he'll be able to buy something he wants or buy more chocolate milk, which he absolutely loves. Yeah, that's a centrifugal force lock, which are very cool. I've seen those in the past. Not a flat-earther for sure, but I am far more open to so-called conspiracy theories after 2020 than I was before 2020. My own opinion is the fact that all of that occurred in 2020, 20/20 being consistent with perfect eyesight, is actually not an accident. Yeah, darkness is a privation or an absence of light, not the other way around. It's much like evil. Evil is not the presence of something, but it is the absence of right order in the created will. If you've never read the book or seen the video that they put out years ago called "Privileged Planet", I think you'd enjoy it. They just came out with a 20 year update to the book this year, but if you get a chance to read it or look at the DVD that they did for the book, I think you'd enjoy it. It's a professional philosopher and a professional scientist (astrophysicist) talking about various aspects of the Earth, its location, its moon, etc... and how those things all point to the existence of a super intelligent transcendent being as the party responsible. Why did I write so much? I actually don't know. Must be because you talked more in this one, so I'll blame you. 🤣😂 Pretty good box! Keep stacking that Copper high!
Sorry to take so long to respond. We had a potluck shindig at our house today. Everyone has gone now... We also chose to tell our children there is no real Santa... I would mess with them and say, yeah Santa isn't real, but you know... The tooth fairy is... How do you think that money shows up under your pillow? They would just laugh... We never did the Halloween thing, as a Christian it was just something I didn't feel great about... We have a lot of Christian friends that like the Halloween thing, so we just smile, it's their thing. And we don't want to spoil it for them. If they bother to ask our opinion, we'll tell them how we feel about it. I've put Privileged Planet in my phone. I'll check it out later. I'm one to listen to conspiracy theories, and truly many of them are not theories, they are just denied by the mainstream media. Many of them are obvious to folks with open eyes. The whole "conspiracy theory" slogan was just a way to try to make them look foolish. Remember the book "None dare call it conspiracy" ? It explains plainly how the left push the idea of it as ridiculous, to keep the moderate people from turning to that side Getting free cookies "or Halloween candy" is more fun.... It's almost like you're getting away with something... I hope you and your 13 year old always have a great relationship. So good to hear from you. Thanks for being frank. God bless

The presupposition is that the sun is large and far away. If it were a small and local light source, then it wouldn’t illuminate the entire earth. Attempts to triangulate the sun have been fruitless and the only scientific conclusion is that we don’t know how large or distant the sun is. Until you have full knowledge and understanding of the beginning, you really aren't very well equipped to be an atheist... I thought about that, and it does bring a little credence. There are a lot of people these days who really only care about quarters, and they leave their dimes, nickels, and pennies behind or throw them in the trash. That blows my mind, especially given that so many people are sinking in poverty at this point, but it's true, nonetheless. I do actually keep any Nickel bullion that I come across in Canadian change. I have several pounds of Canadian nickels & quarters, as well as a number of French 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 Francs French coins...all of which are 99.9% Nickel bullion. Yeah, that War Nickel is worth $1.90 at melt. I don't keep those as a part of my Silver stack, but I pick 'em up whenever I see them for cheap and put them in a little ancillary stack that I use to insulate my core position in Silver from ever having to be sold off. I think at last count I had something like 108 or 111 of those little War Nickels. Usually, I try to do a total inventory annually, so that time is coming up. Pretty good box of nickels! Keep at it!
It just blows me away how people feel about change, and like you said. So many heaped in debt. Most couples are both working now, bringing in pretty good money, but they spend more than they bring in. Anyway, when I go to my banks, I check the coin machines, I look in the waste basket, and I find coins almost every time. I just deposit them with my other coin returns. LoL, it makes me pretty happy to find that free money. Several bank workers save the foreign change for me as well, so I get a fair amount of Canadian coins too. Every so often they will give me a silver one, that's always nice. Good to hear from you
I keep 95 pennys, nickels, half dollars, and cash quarters and dimes in for more penny nickel halfs
As a coin collector too, I wonder the value of these coins due to their conditions. Can you please let me know if this is worth doing for me? Where do you sell them? Do you have to pay a fee to return the nickels that you don’t keep? I bought a box of Quarters and after going through them, the bank wanted a $5.00 fee for my returning the ones I didn’t want to keep. Are other banks not charging this fee?
You should be able to find a bank with a coin dump in your area with no fees. Coinstar can be used with no fees as long as you get gift card not cash.
I have never paid a fee to purchase or return coins. One of my banks with coin machines started charging 3% after $33.00 so I mostly take my penny returns there . It's usually around 19 or 20 dollars. Try to find one bank to buy coins, and another one to return them. Even if it's the same bank, just different branches. I remember PNC wanted to charge a few, I never bank with them.
I know absolutely know no one hoarding pennies.
Are you? I don't know that many personally, but I sure talk to a lot of hoarders on here.
