@@quarter-py4nr You're right, you know, I was only 6 oz off the copper, and 5 wheat, I still have more than I started with before I got the box. God bless
Yeah, I know you feel. I don't Copper penny hunt in the way that you do. As I've said before, I just use cash for everything, and I keep my change. Any pre-'82 Copper pennies I hold back. I hold back certain other coins as well, but the main point is that sometimes I just don't get a lot of keepers. The other night I only got one keeper coin, and I tried to be thankful for even that one. I've been so blessed in the past, and these are likely to going to be considered the "good ol' days". When I think of that, it helps me to be thankful even when I'm not getting exactly what I wanted. Not a great box, but I guess it's a choice between succeeding poorly or failing well. 😆 Keep hunting!
Thank you, good hearing from you. We need to find reason for thinking of everyday as a blessing. You are right I think, one day today's finds will be a really good box. God bless
I got an 1918 wheat penny back in change transaction yesterday. I get coppers all the time but mostly 1970s decade. I’ve gotten three wheats over the past two months.
Just went through a box of pennies and had 201 wheats in it! Best box I ever did. Been at it for 6 years. Thinking somebody dumped their collection or a grandpa died and she didn't want it.Not sure. All I can say is "COOL BEANS."😊
Cool beans all right, wowzers, wherever you got them, go back and get more, maybe there is still more in another box... Good for you, how cool. Well..... I got 5
I’ve realized that there is way more copper Pennies in circulation in my area than most other areas. I keep an exact count of copper Pennies per box I hunt, the average per box is about 470, 18-20% of the boxes. Pretty healthy numbers
That is right at 3 pounds per box, which I think is good. That's what I shoot for and get the majority of the time. I get right at three pounds of copper, not counting the wheat pennies, and the Canadian copper pennies which I keep separate. I'm in the Louisville Kentucky area. It sounds like we have similar results, I've heard from others in areas that said 2 pounds was their average, so I think we are pretty lucky.
Chase bank in my town really leaves alot to be desired, they only give you two rolls of quarters and won't give any more, plus they give you a hard time when depositing boxes, they act like premodonas.....wells bank is awesome here,
It's the management.. They get this power thing, it's so frustrating, most of my chase branches I go to are great, but there are a few like yours. I wish I had wells Fargo here too. I've been to them in other towns, and even as a non member that were wonderful... I have actually considered driving down to Nashville to get an account. If I ever get back to traveling more (like I used to) I will definitely get an account with them . Good hearing from you
Hey dude, what do you do with the post 82's? You re-roll them and back to the bank or coin star amazon money? I have to check my local coin star to see if it does the amazon thing.
Question: Are there actually any coin/bullion stores that are paying melt value for copper pennies? Or is this melt value for pennies (and nickels) just a theory, because isn't it still illegal to melt pennies for their copper value?? I notice there there are a lot of people trying to sell copper pennies at above face value price, but is anybody actually buying??
@@girardbleau6808 there is not a store paying melt value, there are lots of people paying above face value on eBay and other locations. There is a small company out west with a few employees that sells copper pennies. That's all they do, separate, bag, and sell. And they make a living doing it. But it's like silver in a way. You and I pay a premium when we buy bullion, we wait for the price to go up enough, and sell it most of the time at just under spot. Copper is like that, but we don't have to pay premium when we coin roll hunt for it.
To all who read this. At the end I said 10 pounds, I meant to say 2 pounds. My bad, you see the scales, it's 2 pounds
I knew what you meant. 😁
They can’t all be great boxes! The wheat cents lessened the sting. Great video as always.

Oh, I hope I didn't say that. I just recently started getting on Reddit, crh
