Hollywood is a beautiful and sad place. I never got any feeling there other than souls at rest. I was dismayed at the number of small flags blowing along the ground and as they had no sticks left to put them back, still have them. Well worth the time to visit.
Lived here in Richmond all my life and I never heard of the vampire legend. There is the legend of Chris Baker, that Richmond grave robber who is the medical students would pay to have him supply them with corpses. Chris Baker was actually a real person and if you Google him In the story does come up.
I used to give tours through Hollywood Cemetery. The Richmond Vampire is so much a legend that Poole's remains had to be moved because of the number of people trying to get into it. The term "going up to Hollywood" was a term used for a burial. There are numerous meaningful symbols within the gates, headstones, etc. LOTS of great info available in Jim DuPriest's book and a great driving tour/walking tour within. GREAT location and BEAUTIFUL cemetery. SO SO SO much to see out there! (GREAT video and don't forget to see the monument of hand carved stone stacked with nothing holding it together that has a great history behind it too)
I'm familiar with Richmond- I'm a bit suspicious of the pairing of the Tunnel train disaster with the Pool vampire story. I think it is a recent invention- In the 90's I read of both cases and back then they were not connected, so I think people began to merge the two into one tale of a vampire. It would be interesting to learn just how far back any print material references go back on this pairing. But the even bigger mystery is the fact that someone is walking around the cemetery wearing a Sears T-shirt. Creepy.
And to add to the myth, supposedly the iron dog comes to life at night and wonders the grounds. I've also heard that the vampire and iron dog are working security at night as well. Lol.
@ fearless hi neighbor i also live n that area actually abt 5 min ...love to learn abt the history n Richmond...there is a slave cemetery n northside that has a lot of interesting stuff there as well
The geography of the vampire story associated with the tunnel collapse doesn't make much sense. The southeast end of the tunnel is over half a mile from the end where the collapse occurred and is rather remote, (even then, I suspect). No bystanders nearby at the collapse witnessed anything at the other end, much less at Hollywood Cemetery, which was all the way on the other side of town.
Virginia Paranormal yeah do that. I was a teen and it around Lakeside that he or she is supposed to be. My cousins and I would go sit outside or go to the park to maybe run into him... Remember teens we were stupid at the time, IF they are real. Also there is a short part of a documentary about it. I am still trying to find the link and the story but the werewolf is around a nursing home. I'll keep looking if I find it will send the link but was not even remotely impressed by it like a skim over... Or it could be me because I have been to the railroad and the cemetery, hotels and other so-called haunted areas and well they wanted to just skim no need to see it and go to those places. You know, not like a freak but I still like visiting and debunking or trying to find a actual cause?
You should do it episode on the large very large mass grave Confederate behind Blandford Church it's not protected it's lost it's forgotten this is huge tree growing at the top it's in the woods behind Blandford Cemetery
Hi I just watch the and enjoyed it didn’t know about the vampire heard rumors somewhere else. But anyway at 13:50. And on you could hear strange sounds. 14:07 over your voice sounded like a different language but deep and 14:40 baby crying
Good evening, thank you for visiting the Hollywood Cemetery. Such eye candy f9r visitors and long term residents! So, I noticed while you were visiting the Pool tomb i believe that you mentioned you atempted to get permission to come back to the cemetery at night time. I met this guy about a year ago who is employed by the Hollywood Cemetery. He does al kinds of landscape work to assisting with preparing new graves. Its been a year but I know how to get a hold of him so we can see if he can be of some assistance in obtaining a 12 hour after dark pass(permission) to get a closer look at the parks secrets while under the shadows of nite time. Ad I mentioned earlier it been about a year since we spoke but I know his friends amd see them regularly so getting ahold of him should be easy. Let me know if you want me to give it a try? My only request is that I get to come along and maybe you'll take me or nay investigation in the future at some point. Honestly you're the first Virginia paranormal researcher I've seen but I usually don't look for that type of stuff due to all of these silly nutcase types that are out there making the whole scene look absolutely ridiculous but when watching you I think that you are smart and serious about what you do so feel free to text me back. if there are any typos I do apologize I did I talk to text on this then I'm kind of in a rush goodbye
It was nice you did everything to display information of the Richmond Vampire, but I must wonder, when will anybody ever do a paranormal investigation on churches in Virginia who have paranormal activity? Not trying to bash- just asking.
yeah about that their is no such thing as Vampires that is totally an urban legend just like sasquatch, and big foot hell even the jersey devil and the goat man their all urban legends sorry.......
I dig the SEARS shirt....R.I.P. Regency Sears....got alot of my Craftsman from there

I’m 26 minutes away from the cemetery. I’ve heard a lot about the dog statue that where the family is buried. I hear it moves
It does.. pay attention to the way it's facing and then look at it later

wonderful work. Thanks a bunch for sharing. :)
It really did look like your weapon of choice for vampires was a thermal gun! Lol :)
You should do a tour of the Maury cemetery, I have lots of family buried there but nothing with a notable paranormal past.
Clearly you saved your favorites for last👌
Did you see the EYE looking out the door at the 13 minute point of the film to about the 13:40 mark. It also lightens up then darkens ?
Thanks heaps for sharing. 💚

John Ramsey True. Pretty sure it's just urban legend.
i live here and have never heard of the vampire
I have, and born and raised here. However surprised they didn't do one about the Lakeside Werewolf that would have cracked me up.
Celeste Schoolcraft We're gonna have to look into that one.

Why don't you ask them! In any case, they put up one hell of a fight and I respect them for that!
They're starting to think we're losing respect for their sacrifice.
